Pectin was extracted from gold kiwifruit by four commercial enzyme preparations (Celluclast 1.5 L, Cytolase CL, Cellulyve TR 400 and NS33048). The chosen enzymes were used either in single or in combination, with and without protease addition. The recovered pectin was characterised and compared for the yield, total nonstarch polysaccharide and neutral sugar composition, protein and ash, pectin, molecular weight distribution and the viscosity. Results indicated that enzyme‐extracted gold kiwifruit pectin was rich in galacturonic acid. Purified pectin yield, and their physicochemical composition and rheological property (viscosity), was significantly affected by the type of enzyme used. The pectin extracted by Celluclast 1.5 L demonstrated to be the most viscous and recorded the highest in molecular weight (Mw) (1.65 × 106 g mol–1) compared with the other extracts. The extract Mw and their distribution were discussed and related to their viscosity behaviour.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Arteriography is the diagnostic test of choice before lower extremity revascularization, because it is a means of pinpointing stenotic or occluded arteries and defining optimal sites for the origin and termination of bypass grafts. We evaluated whether a duplex ultrasound scan, used as an alternative to arteriography, could be used as a means of accurately predicting the proximal and distal anastomotic sites in patients requiring peripheral bypass grafts and, therefore, replace standard preoperative arteriography. METHODS: Forty-one patients who required infrainguinal bypass grafts underwent preoperative duplex arterial mapping (DAM). Based on these studies, an observer blinded to the operation performed predicted what operation the patient required and the best site for the proximal and distal anastomoses. These predictions were compared with the actual anastomotic sites chosen by the surgeon. RESULTS: Whether a femoropopliteal or an infrapopliteal bypass graft was required was predicted correctly by means of DAM in 37 patients (90%). In addition, both anastomotic sites in 18 of 20 patients (90%) who had femoropopliteal bypass grafts and 5 of 21 patients (24%) who had infrapopliteal procedures were correctly predicted by means of DAM. CONCLUSION: DAM is a reliable means of predicting whether patients will require femoropopliteal or infrapopliteal bypass grafts, and, when a patient requires a femoropopliteal bypass graft, the actual location of both anastomoses can also be accurately predicted. Therefore, DAM appears able to replace conventional preoperative arteriography in most patients found to require femoropopliteal reconstruction. Patients who are predicted by means of DAM to require crural or pedal bypass grafts should still undergo preoperative contrast studies to confirm these results and to more precisely locate the anastomotic sites.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of normal growth and development on the Peer Assessment Rating index between 12 and 22 years of age. The sample consisted of 49 nonorthodontic subjects (24 male and 25 females) from the Nijmegen Growth Study. The mean age at the first observation was 12.2 +/- 0.7 years and at the second observation 22.1 +/- 0.6 years. The dental casts at these ages were scored with the Peer Assessment Rating index. The influence of the Angle classification and the treatment need on changes over time in the Peer Assessment Rating score were evaluated. The mean changes in the PAR scores over time between cases that have more than 30% improvement to those that have less than 30% improvement were calculated. The results indicate that there were no significant differences between the mean Peer Assessment Rating score at 12 years of age (12.20 +/- 0.91) and at 22 years of age (12.45 +/- 1.28), but there were relevant differences in individual cases. The changes were irrespective of the Angle classification or the treatment need. Changes over time in the weighted Peer Assessment Rating score were mainly correlated to changes in the anterior crossbite and the overjet. This correlation may be influenced, however, by the applied weighting factor for those occlusal traits.  相似文献

We present a novel approach to efficiently compute thickness, correspondence, and gridding of tissues between two simply connected boundaries. The solution of Laplace's equation within the tissue region provides a harmonic function whose gradient flow determines the correspondence trajectories going from one boundary to the other. The proposed method uses and expands upon two recently introduced techniques in order to compute thickness and correspondences based on these trajectories. Pairs of partial differential equations are efficiently computed within an Eulerian framework and combined with a Lagrangian approach so that correspondences trajectories are partially constructed when necessary. Examples are presented in order to compare the performance of this method with those of the pure Lagrangian and pure Eulerian approaches. Results show that the proposed technique takes advantage of both the speed of the Eulerian approach and the accuracy of the Lagrangian approach.  相似文献

The number of pedestrian–motor vehicle accidents and pedestrian deaths in China surged in recent years. However, a large scale empirical research on pedestrian traffic crashes in China is lacking. In this study, we identify significant risk factors associated with fault and severity in pedestrian–motor vehicle accidents. Risk factors in several different dimensions, including pedestrian, driver, vehicle, road and environmental factors, are considered. We analyze 6967 pedestrian traffic accident reports for the period 2006–2010 in Guangdong Province, China. These data, obtained from the Guangdong Provincial Security Department, are extracted from the Traffic Management Sector-Specific Incident Case Data Report. Pedestrian traffic crashes have a unique inevitability and particular high risk, due to pedestrians’ fragility, slow movement and lack of lighting equipment. The empirical analysis of the present study has the following policy implications. First, traffic crashes in which pedestrians are at fault are more likely to cause serious injuries or death, suggesting that relevant agencies should pay attention to measures that prevent pedestrians from violating traffic rules. Second, both the attention to elderly pedestrians, male and experienced drivers, the penalty to drunk driving, speeding, driving without a driver's license and other violation behaviors should be strengthened. Third, vehicle safety inspections and safety training sessions for truck drivers should be reinforced. Fourth, improving the road conditions and road lighting at night are important measures in reducing the probability of accident casualties. Fifth, specific road safety campaigns in rural areas, and education programs especially for young children and teens should be developed and promoted. Moreover, we reveal a country-specific factor, hukou, which has significant effect on the severity in pedestrian accidents due to the discrepancy in the level of social insurance/security, suggesting that equal social security level among urban and rural people should be set up. In addition, establishing a comprehensive liability distribution system for non-urban areas and roadways will be conducive to both pedestrians’ and drivers’ voluntary compliance with traffic rules.  相似文献

This work describes investigations into the role that biotic and abiotic mechanisms play in the manganese redox cycle in a freshwater dam over a twelve month period. Enzymatic control of manganese oxidation was taking place with a temperature optimum of approx. 30°C. Manganese oxidation was only significant above about 19°C. The temperature and season play vital roles in determining the extent to which abiotic and microbial mechanisms contribute to manganese oxidation. Results showed that microbial catalysis is overwhelmingly responsible for manganese oxidation in the lower epilimnion from November to May. Significant abiotic catalysis (up to 25%) can occur in late summer/autumn when the water temperature is greatest. Mn(II) oxidation, pseudo-first order rate constants to 1.12 × 1022 M−4 · d−1 were measured while poisoned sample experiments confirmed the role of biological mediation. In winter, biological control could not occur because of the lower temperature of the water column. The measurement of “x” in MnOx showed that higher manganese oxidation states were expected when the manganese oxidation rate was at a maximum and therefore when microbial activity was greatest. Direct microbial reduction of MnOx in the water column was of much less significance. However, indirect reduction may have taken place through the reaction of MnOx with sulfide. The results of this work have important implications for the design and operation of artificial destratification units for the control of manganese speciation.  相似文献

We have studied the defect levels in as grown and post growth processed cadmium telluride (CdTe) using thermoelectric effect spectroscopy (TEES) and thermally stimulated current (TSC) techniques. We have extracted the thermal energy (Eth) and trapping cross section (σth) for the defect levels using the initial rise and variable heating rate methods. We have identified 10 different defect levels in the crystals. Thermal ionization energy values obtained experimentally were compared to theoretical values of the transition-energy levels of intrinsic and extrinsic defects and defect complexes in CdTe determined by first-principles band-structure calculations. On the basis of this comparison, we have associated the observed ionization levels with various native defects and impurity complexes.  相似文献
