Research findings and various published studies point to interleukin 4 (IL-4) and CD23 antigen as instrumental in allergic reactions of allergy patients because these two substances are part of the main triggering mechanisms in cells producing IgE antibodies. In this study it was investigated whether the control of IL-4 and CD23 levels result in a decrease of the severity of allergic reactions. It is well known that azelastine hydrochloride (AZ, CAS 79307-93-0) suppresses symptoms of nasal allergy. The antiallergic activity of this drug includes the suppression of IgE antibody production, antigen-antibody reactions, liberation of mediators and mediator antagonism. One report states that the cytokines IL-2, IL-3, and IL-4 were suppressed by AZ in cultured cells. There have been no reports regarding cytokines in clinical treatment using AZ. Therefore, the effects of AZ treatment on IL-4, soluble CD23, and RAST (radioallergosorbent test) levels in the sera of allergic rhinitis patients were studied. The results show that the levels of IL-4 and soluble CD23 were significantly reduced by the administration of AZ over a 4-week period, especially in patients with "excellent" or "good" efficacy of therapy. 相似文献

Two classes of Tn10 transposase mutants that suppress mutations in the Tn10 terminal inverted repeat
Tn10 transposition requires IS10 transposase and essential sequences at the two ends of the element. Mutations in terminal basepairs 6-13 confer particularly strong transposition defects. We describe here the identification of transposase mutations that suppress the transposition defects of such terminus mutations. These mutations are named "SEM" for suppression of ends mutations. All of the SEM mutations suppress more than a single terminus mutation and thus are not simple alterations of transposase/end recognition specificity. The mutations identified fall into two classes on the basis of genetic tests, location within the protein and nature of the amino acid substitution. Class I mutations, which are somewhat allele specific, appear to define a small structural and functional domain of transposase in which hydrophobic interactions are important at an intermediate stage of the transposition reaction, after an effective interaction between the ends but before transposon excision. Class II mutations, which are more general in their effects, occur at a single residue in a small noncritical amino-terminal proteolytic domain of transposase and exert their affects by altering a charge interaction; these mutations may affect act early in the reaction, before or during establishment of an effective interaction between the ends. 相似文献

We have isolated a novel cDNA clone encoding interferon (IFN) consensus sequence-binding protein in adult T-cell leukemia cell line or activated T cells (ICSAT); this protein is the human homolog of the recently cloned Pip/LSIRF. ICSAT is structurally most closely related to the previously cloned ICSBP, a member of the IFN regulatory factor (IRF) family of proteins that binds to interferon consensus sequences (ICSs) found in many promoters of the IFN-regulated genes. Among T-cell lines investigated, ICSAT was abundantly expressed in human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1)-infected T cells. When the HTLV-1 tax gene was expressed or phorbol myristake acetate-A23187 stimulation was used, ICSAT expression was induced in Jurkat cells which otherwise do not express ICSAT. When the binding of ICSAT to four different ICSs was tested, the relative differences in binding affinities for those ICSs were determined. To study the functional role of ICSAT, we performed cotransfection experiments with the human embryonal carcinoma cell line N-Tera2. ICSAT was demonstrated to possess repressive function over the gene activation induced by IFN stimulation or by IRF-1 cotransfection. Such repressive function is similar to that seen in IRF-2 or ICSBP. However, we have found that ICSAT has a different repressive effect from that of IRF-2 or ICSBP in some IFN-responsive reporter constructs. These results suggest that a novel mechanism of gene regulation by "differential repression" is used by multiple members of repressor proteins with different repressive effects on the IFN-responsive genes. 相似文献

Abstract— MgO thin film is currently used as a surface protective layer for dielectric materials because MgO has a high resistance during ion sputtering and exhibits effective secondary electron emission. The secondary‐electron‐emission coefficient γ of MgO is high for Ne ions; however, it is low for Xe ions. The Xe content of the discharge gas of PDPs needs to be raised in order to increase the luminous efficiency. Thus, the development of high‐γ materials replacing MgO is required. The discharge properties and chemical surface stability of SrO containing Zr (SrZrO) as the candidate high‐γ protective layer for noble PDPs have been characterized. SrZrO films have superior chemical stability, especially the resistance to carbonation because of the existence of a few adsorption sites due to their amorphous structure. The firing voltage is 60 V lower than that of MgO films for a discharge gas of Ne/Xe = 85/15 at 60 kPa. 相似文献

We propose wedge type light guide plate (LGP) adopting twin inclined cylindrical surfaces (TICS) at the incident part of a LGP. It has higher optical efficiency than conventional wedge type LGP. In dimension of LGP which the thickness of incident part is 1.5 mm and that of luminance part is 0.7 mm, the optical efficiency of wedge type LGP adopting TICS is expected to be 96% in comparison with a normal flat LGP. In addition, there is an advantage to reduce the non‐uniformity of vicinity of light emitted diodes (LEDs) by TICS reflecting light laterally. However, it is necessary that the LED centers are aligned with the intersections of TICS. The misalignment of LED causes non‐uniformity of optical profile that is slightly larger than a normal LGP. 相似文献

In recently developed intelligent vehicles, warning alarms are often used to prompt avoidance behaviours from drivers facing imminent hazardous situations. However, when critical reaction delays to auditory stimulation are anticipated, the alarm should be activated earlier to compensate for such delays. It was found that reaction times to an auditory stimulus significantly increased in the presence of slow eye movement (SEM), which is known to occur frequently during the wake-sleep transition. The reaction delay could not be attributed to temporal effects such as fatigue and was invariant regardless of response effectors (finger or foot). Moreover, it was found that applied pedal force decreased immediately after an auditory stimulus interrupted SEM. Consequently, it was concluded that SEM can be a good predictor of reaction delays to auditory warning alarms when drivers are in a drowsy state. STATEMENT OF RELEVANCE: The present study demonstrated that simple auditory reaction time significantly increased when SEM emerged. In the design of vehicle safety systems using warning alarms to prompt avoidance behaviours from drivers, such reaction delays during SEM must be taken into account. 相似文献

The 3D quantitative measurement system for a sewer pipe is introduced. Two parallel lasers are rotated by the motor and draw
the two annular streaks on the inside surface of the pipe. The circular laser streaks are recorded by the CCD camera. The
measurement of the cross-section is established by analyzing the recorded streaks. The tilt of the robot against the axis
of the pipe is detected by the deviation between two parallel lasers. It enables us to measure the vertical cross section
of the pipe regardless the tilt of the system to the pipe. Experimental result shows the feasibility of the system.

Switching without any break in the electrodes was observed in polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate films by controlling the current using a high resistance connected in series with the sample. The effect of the method of polymerization on the switching characteristics were studies for both polymers. Polymers were prepared by -ray irradiation or by catalytic or noncatalytic thermal polymerization. The switching characteristics gave poor reproducibility for the catalytically polymerized polystyrene, but no difference was observed for the three types of polymethyl methacrylate from different origins. In the case of polystyrene, the lower the molecule weight, the higher was the threshold voltage. With polymethyl methacrylate such a dependence was not observed. In both polymers the on-state is relatively stable. When the samples in the on-state were heated above 100° C, they were converted to the offstate. No dots or breaks on the sample were detected by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) after switching has occurred. 相似文献
