This paper presents a quasi-static multiscale computational model with its verification and rational applications to mechanical behavior predictions of asphaltic roadways that are subject to viscoelastic deformation and fracture damage. The multiscale model is based on continuum thermo-mechanics and is implemented using a finite element formulation. Two length scales (global and local) are two-way coupled in the model framework by linking a homogenized global scale to a heterogeneous local scale representative volume element. With the unique multiscaling and the use of the finite element technique, it is possible to take into account the effect of material heterogeneity, viscoelasticity, and anisotropic damage accumulation in the small scale on the overall performance of larger scale structures. Along with the theoretical model formulation, two example problems are shown: one to verify the model and its computational benefits through comparisons with analytical solutions and single-scale simulation results, and the other to demonstrate the applicability of the approach to model general roadway structures where material viscoelasticity and cohesive zone fracture are involved.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the use of PROMETHEE outranking methods for portfolio selection problems. Starting from a new formulation of the PROMETHEE V method, we develop several alternative approaches based on the concepts of boundary portfolios and c-optimal portfolios. The proposed methods are compared in an extensive computational study. Results of these experiments show that methods based on the concept of c-optimal portfolios provide a good approximation to the (often computationally untractable) PROMETHEE ranking of all portfolios, while requiring only small computational effort even for large problems. For smaller problems, a PROMETHEE ranking of all boundary portfolios can be performed and provides a close approximation of the total ranking.  相似文献

Lycopene exhibits strong antioxidant activity due to its unsaturated molecular bonds, which also contributes to its susceptibility for degradation. Encapsulation techniques can reduce lycopene degradation, increasing its potential applications in functional foods and nutraceuticals. The objective of this study was to optimise the encapsulation of lycopene from watermelon in alginate microparticles using the inverse gelation method. Box–Behnken design was used for the optimisation of three variables: concentrations of alginate (w/v %) and CaCl2 (g L?1), and gelation time (min). Two types of alginate were investigated (low viscosity and high viscosity) and optimised separately using encapsulation efficiency and loading capacity as responses. Results indicated that the models had a good fit to the experimental data and the optimal conditions varied depending on the type of alginate. In general, particles prepared with low‐viscosity alginate exhibited higher encapsulation efficiency and loading capacity and could be used for further research.  相似文献

Affective analysis of video content has greatly increased the possibilities of the way we perceive and deal with media. Different kinds of strategies have been tried, but results are still opened to improvements. Most of the problems come from the lack of standardized test set and real affective models. In order to cope with these issues, in this paper we describe the results of our work on the determination of affective models for evaluation of video clips using audiovisual low-level features. The affective models were developed following two classes of psychological theories of affect: categorial and dimensional. The affective models were created from real data, acquired through a series of user experiments. They reflect the affective state of a viewer after watching a certain scene from a movie. We evaluate the detection of Pleasure, Arousal and Dominance coefficients as well as the detection rate of six affective categories. For this end, two Bayesian network topologies are used, a Hidden Markov Model and an Autoregressive Hidden Markov Model. The measurements were done using audio-only models, video-only models and fused models. Fusion is done using two different methods, a Decision Level Fusion and Feature Level Fusion. All tests were conducted using localized affective models, both categorial and dimensional. Results are presented in terms of detection rate and accuracy for affective families, affective dimensions and probabilistic networks. Arousal was the best detected dimension, followed by dominance and pleasure.  相似文献

Whey proteins are widely used as nutritional and functional ingredients in formulated foods because they are relatively inexpensive, generally recognized as safe (GRAS) ingredient, and possess important biological, physical, and chemical functionalities. Denaturation and aggregation behavior of these proteins is of particular relevance toward manufacture of novel nanostructures with a number of potential uses. When these processes are properly engineered and controlled, whey proteins may be formed into nanohydrogels, nanofibrils, or nanotubes and be used as carrier of bioactive compounds. This review intends to discuss the latest understandings of nanoscale phenomena of whey protein denaturation and aggregation that may contribute for the design of protein nanostructures. Whey protein aggregation and gelation pathways under different processing and environmental conditions such as microwave heating, high voltage, and moderate electrical fields, high pressure, temperature, pH, and ionic strength were critically assessed. Moreover, several potential applications of nanohydrogels, nanofibrils, and nanotubes for controlled release of nutraceutical compounds (e.g. probiotics, vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides) were also included. Controlling the size of protein networks at nanoscale through application of different processing and environmental conditions can open perspectives for development of nanostructures with new or improved functionalities for incorporation and release of nutraceuticals in food matrices.  相似文献

A model was developed to simulate oxygen accumulation in space and time within cylindrical dynamic accumulation chambers that are used to measure oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of materials. The model is based on Fick's law of diffusion and was validated against actual OTR measurements of polymer film samples. Measured OTR values and thicknesses were inputted into the model and oxygen concentrations outputted by the model. OTRs determined from the output of the model was in close agreement to within 0.3–3% of the measured OTR. Oxygen concentration versus time curves generated from model output oxygen concentrations and experimentally measured oxygen concentrations for three actual films were also in agreement. The model was then used to simulate results from three hypothetical test films at varying chamber lengths in order to evaluate effects of accumulation chamber dimensions relative to films on resulting OTR measurements. A typical design scenario was used, where the oxygen sensor is mounted on the chamber wall opposite the sample film. Results demonstrate that dynamic accumulation OTR instrument designers have considerable flexibility in choosing accumulation chamber dimensions because deviations in OTR are only expected to occur at impractically extreme chamber lengths (>10 m) for the entire envelope of OTRs expected for typical packaging films. Bromelain is the denomination given to the group of endoproteases obtained from members of Bromeliacea family. These enzymes have a wide range of proven applications and have been an object of study for worldwide researchers for decades. Over the years, several different downstream processes were studied in order to determine which technique would be worthwhile to be implemented in Brazil and provide the national market with such product. The objective of the present study is to relate the main studies in Brazil that has proven that bromelain purification can be cost-effective, in addition to the well-known benefits owned by such enzymes, and highlight the applications that create their market potential in the Brazilian market.  相似文献

Metal-silicon-boron (Me-Si-B) alloys have been extensively studied due to their potential to develop high temperature structural materials. In this sense, information from accurate phase diagram becomes important. This work presents results of detailed microstructural characterization of as-cast hafnium-silicon alloys to assess the liquid composition associated to the invariant reactions of this system. The alloys were prepared by arc melting from high purity hafnium and silicon under argon atmosphere. The phases present in the alloys were identified by scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction. Important discrepancies were found between the data obtained in this work and those of the most recent phase diagrams, especially the composition of the liquid phase in the following reactions: L + Hf5Si3 ? Hf2Si, 32.5 at.% Si instead of 21 at.% Si, L + Hf3Si2 ? Hf5Si3, 37.0 at.% Si instead of 30.3 at.% Si and L + Hf5Si4 ? HfSi, 52.5 at.% Si instead of 58.3 at.% Si.  相似文献

Total Diet Studies to estimate dietary exposure to food contaminants need to evaluate laboratory measurements data variance. In this process it is critical that data from analytical methods are reliable to correctly scrutinize and compare values over time and between countries. In Europe it is widely recognized that the evaluation of measurement uncertainty is an important parameter when assessing the sources of analytical data variability. Two approaches are considered to estimate uncertainty in analytical measurement. Arsenic, Lead, Chromium and Cadmium, content in several food matrix determined by Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) microwave digestion assisted, are used as examples. The aim of the present research work is to compare both approaches accepted by Eurolab and GUM: Mathematical modeling to assess uncertainty components based on a classical model (bottom up) and an empirical method (top down), based on either experimental data obtained from a single laboratory validation data or inter-laboratory data from Proficiency Testing schemes. Relative expanded uncertainty calculated by both approaches agree when U (%) <20%. These values are concordant with RSDR reported in collaborative studies of EN 15763 (2009), which were assumed as target uncertainty. The top down approach described is simple and easy to use when compared with the mathematical modeling approach providing considerable benefits to those who assess data produced by several laboratories.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on the curing conditions of several resin-impregnated papers and its impact on the performance of HPL (high-pressure decorative laminate). A new methodology for evaluating the bond strength development between the different layers of a HPL(overlay, decorative, and kraft papers) was developed using ABES (Automated Bonding Evaluation System) equipment. The proposed method can be applied to the study of the curing step of the different impregnated paper and the development of bonds between them (overlay paper on decorative paper, decorative paper on kraft paper, and kraft paper on kraft paper) trying to simulate the hot-pressing of an industrial HPL. This will permit to establish a more adapted temperature gradient in hot-press in order to achieve the same curing rate for all layers and provide a good final overall product quality.  相似文献
