Al/glass specimens are prepared following the orthogonal table of five-level six-factorial (L25(56)) design. The governing factors for the preparation of the specimens are deposition conditions, annealing temperature and annealing time. Defects, including hillocks and nanovoids, are found to be created during the annealing process. The threshold value of the annealing stress (σ an ) required for the incipience of hillocks is thus determined. The stress change parameter, σ f –σ an (σ f :internal stress after annealing), is a positive value that increases linearly with σ an . The density of hillocks increases linearly with (σ f –σ an ) when the value of the stress change parameter is beyond the critical value (130 MPa). Nanovoids are produced even in specimens without hillocks. The wedge angle that forms in a specimen after wet etching linearly decreases with decreasing (σ f –σ an ). A high wedge angle lowers the hillock density at the wedge slope. The electrical resistance of the gate layer linearly increases with increasing product value (R*) of the mean size (area) and the density of nanovoids. R* increases nonlinearly with increasing (σ f –σ an ). 相似文献

Understanding the molecular events underlying gene regulation by amino acids has attracted increasing attention. Here, we explored whether the mechanism by which methionine restriction affects the expression of the π class of glutathione S‐transferase (GSTP) is related to oxidative stress initiated by glutathione (GSH) depletion. Rat primary hepatocytes were cultured in an L‐15‐based medium in the absence or presence of 200 μM L ‐buthionine sulfoximine (BSO) or in a methionine‐restricted L‐15 medium supplemented with 20 μM L ‐methionine up to 72 h. BSO and methionine restriction time‐dependently induced GSTP mRNA and protein expression in a similar pattern accompanied by a decrease in the cellular GSH level. The phosphorylation of extracellular signal‐regulated kinase (ERK), but not of c‐Jun NH2‐terminal kinase and p38, was stimulated by methionine restriction and BSO. Electromobility gel shift assay showed that the DNA‐binding activity of nuclear activator protein‐1 (AP‐1) increased in cells exposed to methionine restriction or BSO. With the ERK inhibitor FR180204, AP‐1 activation and GSTP expression were abolished. Moreover, the induction of GSTP by methionine restriction and BSO was reversed by GSH monoethyl ester and N‐acetylcysteine. Our results suggest that methionine restriction up‐regulates GSTP gene expression, which appears to be initiated by the ERK‐AP‐1 signaling pathway through GSH depletion in rat hepatocytes. 相似文献

The nanostructure and dewetting of block copolymer thin films annealed in different neutral solvents

The morphology of polystyrene‐b‐poly(2‐vinyl pyridine) thin films annealed under various neutral solvents was investigated. The morphological transition depends on the vapor pressure of the solvent, the quantity of the solvent in the film, and annealing time. We introduced the volume fraction of solvent in a film (Q) to correlate these factors to the morphology. At low Q, the amount of solvent that penetrates into the film is limited and it cannot induce enough chain mobility. Thus, thin film shows short stripes or a worm‐like structure. At high Q, the great diffusion of solvent into the film facilitates polymer mobility, leading to an ordered structure. Our results also suggested that the dewetting mechanism of thin film depends on Q. At low Q, dewetting develops via the nucleation and growth. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate approaches to thyroid carcinoma invading the aerodigestive tract, with particular attention to well-differentiated carcinomas. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective review of experience with thyroid carcinoma invading the aerodigestive tract over a 20-year period at a tertiary referral hospital. METHODS: The medical records of all patients with a diagnosis of thyroid cancer treated at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, from 1977 through 1997 were reviewed. Multiple clinical variables were analyzed including treatment, development of recurrence, and survival. Survival and time to local recurrence were determined by Kaplan-Meier analysis, and statistical comparisons were made using log-rank analysis. RESULTS: Five hundred thirty-six cases were identified; 28 patients (5.2%) were identified with invasive disease involving the aerodigestive tract. Histologic findings at the time of invasion included 15 well-differentiated (WD) carcinomas and 13 poorly differentiated (PD) carcinomas. Eight of the 28 patients (5 WD, 3 PD) underwent surgical resection of some portion of the aerodigestive tract with curative intent. Ten patients (8 WD, 2 PD) underwent incomplete resection with tumor left adjacent to aerodigestive tract structures. All patients undergoing incomplete resection developed local recurrence. Six required salvage resection, as opposed to no recurrences in WD carcinomas following complete resection (P = .01). Survival at 5 years for WD carcinomas undergoing complete resection versus initial incomplete resection was 100% versus 50%, respectively (P = .27). CONCLUSION: Review of our experience shows that complete resection of thyroid carcinoma invading the aerodigestive tract can offer prolonged palliation, improved local control, and the opportunity for cure in selected patients. 相似文献

The simultaneous determination of amino and organic acids in plant tissue extracts using capillary gas chromatography is described. Plant leaves were extracted in 5% (w/v) perchloric acid and neutralized extracts were purified using C18 cartridges. The amino and organic acids in purified extracts were then converted to tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) derivatives prior to separation and detection by capillary gas chromatography (GC) with flame ionization detection. Conditions required for optimal derivatization were investigated. Amino and organic acids were readily converted to their TBDMS derivatives using N-methyl-N-tert-butyldimethylsilyltrifluoroacetamide in dimethylformamide solvent 1:6 (v/v) with an average recovery of 90% and a reproducibility of about 5%. The characteristic [M-57] and [M-159] fragment ion of the TBDMS derivatives was confirmed using GC-MS. The proposed method was demonstrated by the determination of amino and organic acids in extracts of Acacia and Eucalyptus leaves, where detection limits were 1-20 ng. 相似文献

This study presents a new radix-4 butterfly design for Viterbi decoders. The branch symmetry of the proposed radix-4 butterfly is exploited to design a low-complexity radix-4 butterfly module to simplify the implementation of the soft-decision Viterbi decoder. By exploiting the branch symmetry, only a half of branch metrics need to be computed, while other metrics can be derived from the computed branches. Therefore, the branch metric computation of the radix-4 butterfly can be reduced by a factor of 2. Considering the convolutional code in the DAB system as an example, experimental results indicate that the proposed radix-4 butterfly design can reduce the number of FPGA slices of the radix-4 butterfly module by 24% over the conventional design. 相似文献
