The use of textile-grade fiber extracted from the Indian pineapple leaf is an unexplored area. Pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) is fine, soft, and moderately strong and is much acceptable for fashion garment. An attempt has been made to extract and soften Indian PALF from the pineapple leaves by decortication and subsequent water retting. Decorticated cum retted fiber has shown better physicomechanical and surface appearance properties than decorticated fiber. Fine yarn (38 tex) was spun in a suitable spinning system, and the property performance was found to be suitable to make eco-sustainable novelty fabric. Fabric was developed by using cotton as warp yarn and PALF-based yarn as weft in a handloom. The developed fabric shows very good physical and mechanical properties, desired for apparels. This inferred that Indian PALF may be successfully used to make eco-niche apparel quality fabric as well as novelty textiles.  相似文献

Substantial efforts are underway to improve the recovery factor from existing oil reserves to meet the ever-growing global oil demand. Surfactants are known to increase oil recovery through reducing interfacial tension (IFT) and/or altering the rock wettability. The selection of surfactants for high-salinity high-temperature oil fields is a challenging task owing to poor thermal stability, precipitation, and adsorption of surfactants on reservoir rocks. Sulfobetaine-based polyoxyethylene zwitterionic surfactants have shown excellent thermal and surface properties. However, their solubility in high-salinity brines becomes poor particularly with a long hydrophobic tail (>C17). Recently, we synthesized such types of surfactants by incorporating ethylene oxide (EO) units into the hydrophobic tail, which improved the solubility in formation water (213,734 ppm) and seawater (SW) (57,643 ppm). In this work, we investigated the IFT, thermal stability, rheological behavior, and foaming properties of two polyoxyethylene zwitterionic surfactants having different degrees of ethoxylation. Aging experiments exhibited excellent thermal stability and no change in the chemical structure was detected. The surfactant with lesser EO units (EASB-1a) showed a lower IFT compared to the surfactant with higher EO units (EASB-1b). Rheological studies revealed that the addition of both surfactants reduced the viscosity of the acrylamide copolymer. However, the effect of EASB-1a was more prominent compared to that of EASB-1b. The surfactant with a higher degree of ethoxylation showed lower adsorption compared to the surfactant with a lesser degree of ethoxylation. Both surfactants showed excellent foamability and foam stability compared to the commercial surfactants. Excellent thermal stability, water solubility under harsh reservoir conditions, foaming properties, and lower adsorption make them a suitable choice for high-temperature, high-salinity reservoirs.  相似文献

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is an age-related neurodegenerative ailment that affects dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain called the substantia nigra of the ventral midbrain. It is clinically characterized by movement disorder and marked with unusual synaptic protein alpha-synuclein accumulation in the brain. To date, only a few Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs are available on the market for the treatment of PD. Nonetheless, these drugs show parasympathomimetic related adverse events and remarkably higher toxicity; hence, it is important to find more efficacious molecules to treat PD. In our study, We chosen 22 natural compounds as inhibitors that potentially block the alpha-synuclein clump—the pathological hallmark of PD—and provide new avenues for its treatment. Most of these molecules exhibited good pharmacokinetic behaviors, making them decisively favorable drug candidates to cure PD. Molecular docking studies were performed to investigate the binding interactions between natural compounds and alpha-synuclein as anti-Parkinson drug targets. Among the examined compounds, curcumin and piperine emerged as promising phytochemicals with the highest binding affinity, key residual stable bindings and showed a good inhibitory features. Thus, the present study indicates that curcumin and piperine hold the potential to be developed as treatment options against PD. Experimental validations are needed for insights into their mechanism of action and potential clinical application.  相似文献

Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in an sp2-hybridized structure with properties far superior compared to other materials. Research and development in graphene synthesis have been rapidly growing the past few years, especially using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) over various types of carbon precursor. The nature and the type of carbon precursor is one important parameter of growth by CVD, especially for graphene production, since they can dramatically impact graphene growth yield and rate. However, effects of the used carbon precursor on graphene growth mechanisms are rarely discussed. In the course of large-scale and low-cost graphene preparation, this review on the recent trends regarding the utilization of diverse carbon precursors used to synthesize graphene via the CVD method is of great interest for development of improved or alternative synthesis methods. The details and the mechanisms involved in graphene synthesis using carbon precursors in the form of gaseous, liquids and solids are compared, analyzed and discussed thoroughly. In this review, we present a thorough overview on the impact and mechanisms of carbon precursors in achieving high-quality graphene with competitive edge in the near future.  相似文献

The effect of the grounded electrode diameter on the ignition voltage using 13.56 MHz in argon gas is studied experimentally. The results indicate a systematic decrease of the breakdown voltage with increasing electrode area for the same pd value. No multi-valued breakdown voltages are observed. The Paschen minimum is not affected by the electrode diameter as long as the parallel plane approximation is valid. A modified Paschen equation which takes into account indirect discharge via the chamber walls at high pd values gives reasonable fits to the experimental data.  相似文献

Optical emission spectroscopic measurement of trace rare gas is carried out to determine the density of nitrogen (N) atom, in a nitrogen plasma, as a function of filling pressure and RF power applied. 2% of argon, used as an actinometer, is mixed with nitrogen. In order to normalize the changes in the excitation cross section and electron energy distribution function at different operational conditions, the Ar-I emission line at 419.83 nm is used, which is of nearly the same excitation efficiency coefficients as that of the nitrogen emission line at 493.51 nm. It is observed that the emission intensity of the selected argon and atomic nitrogen lines increases with both pressure and RF power, as does the nitrogen atomic density.  相似文献

This work presents the first electrical and optical measurements of the initial phase of hydrogen discharge in the upgraded spherical tokamak GLAST-III, initiated with electron cyclotron heating(ECH). Diagnostic measurements provide insights into expected and unexpected physics issues related to the initial phase of discharge. A triple Langmuir probe(TLP) has been developed to measure time series of the floating potential, plasma electron temperature and number density over the entire discharge, allowing monitoring of the two phases of the discharge: the ECH pre-ionization phase following by the plasma current formation phase. A TLP has the ability to give time-resolved measurements of the floating potential(V_(float)), electron temperature(T_e) and ion saturation current(I_(sat)∝n_e√kT_e).sat e eThe evolution of the ECH-assisted pre-ionization and subsequent plasma current phases in one shot are well envisioned by the probe. Intense fluctuations in the plasma current phase advocate for efficient equilibrium and feedback control systems. Moreover, the emergence of some strong impurity lines in the emission spectrum, even after only a few shots, suggests a crucial need for improvements in the base vacuum level. A noticeable change in the shape of the temporal profiles of the floating potential, electron temperature, ion saturation current(I_(sat)) and light emission has been observed with changing hydrogen fill pressure and vertical magnetic field.  相似文献

Corrosion makes structures more vulnerable to buckling and yielding failures. It is common practice to assume a uniform thickness reduction for general corrosion. To estimate the remaining strength of corroded structures, typically a much higher level of accuracy is required, since the actual corroded structures have irregular surfaces. Elastic buckling of simply supported rectangular corroded plates are studied with one- and both-sided irregular surfaces. Eigenvalue analysis by using finite element method (FEM) is employed for computing Euler stress. The influence of various geometric and corrosion characteristics are investigated and it is found that the aspect ratio of the plate, the average thickness diminution, the standard deviation of thickness diminution and the amount of corrosion loss have influence on the reduction of buckling strength of the corroded plates. Buckling strength of one- and both-sided corroded plates are the same. In plates with low value of aspect ratio, reduction of buckling strength is negligible. Reduction of buckling strength is more prominent in plates with higher aspect ratio. Reduction of buckling strength is very sensitive to the amount of corrosion loss; the higher the amount of corrosion loss, the more reduction of buckling strength. Reduction of buckling strength is less sensitive to the standard deviation of thickness diminution.  相似文献
