Two soluble anthracene-based organic materials (BPA-An1 and BPA-An2) have been synthesized and characterized. The optical properties of these π-conjugated systems were investigated by UV–Visible absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. The optical gaps were estimated from the absorption onsets of the thin polymer films; their values were 3.01 and 2.76?eV for BPA-An1 and BPA-An2, respectively. The PL spectrum of BPA-An2 exhibits a blue emission both in dilute solution and thin film. BPA-An1 showed a blue photoluminescence in dilute solution; in solid film, π–π interactions influence its optical behavior and a green emission was observed. The HOMO and LUMO levels were estimated using cyclic voltammetry analysis. Single-layer devices of the (indium-tin oxide/anthracene-based material/aluminum) configuration have been elaborated and showed relatively low turn-on voltages of 6.2–5.5?V for BPA-An1 and BPA-An2, respectively.  相似文献

The synthesis and carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1) inhibitory activity of two series of aromatic sulfonamides and their Cu(II) derivatives, incorporating metal-complexing moieties of the DTPA, DOTA, and TETA type are reported. The new compounds were designed in such a way as to possess high affinity for Cu(II) ions, exploiting four pendant carboxylate moieties in the DTPA derivatives, as well as the cyclen/cyclam macrocyles, and three pendant acetate moieties in the DOTA and TETA derivatives. The new derivatives showed modest inhibition of the cytosolic isoform CA I (K(I) values in the range of 66-2130 nM), were better CA II inhibitors (K(I) values in the range of 21-360 nM), and excellent inhibitors of the tumor-associated isoform CA IX (K(I) values in the range of 4.1-110 nM), with selectivity ratios for the inhibition of the tumor (CA IX) over the cytosolic (CA II) isozyme in the range of 10.74-20.88 for the best derivatives. Copper complexes were more inhibitory than the corresponding ligand sulfonamides, and showed membrane impermeability, thus, having the possibility to specifically target the transmembrane CA IX that has an extracellular active site. Incorporation of radioactive copper isotopes in this type of CA inhibitor may lead to interesting diagnostic/therapeutic applications for such compounds.  相似文献

DNA hairpin structures formed within a repeated tract might be a causative factor for triplet expansion observed in several debilitating diseases. We have designed and used a fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) melting assay to screen for ligands that bind specifically to the CNG triplet repeats. Using this assay, we screened a panel of 33 chemicals that were previously designed to bind DNA or RNA secondary structures. Remarkably, we found that macrocyclic compounds, such as acridine dimers and trimers, exhibit interesting affinities and specificities for this motif.  相似文献

In this study, both Cr(VI) reduction and phenol oxidation induced by polymer-sensitized TiO2 were investigated under visible light. Study of the reaction mechanism indicated that poly(fluorene-co-thiophene) (PFT) acted as a semiconductor and was by itself able to reduce Cr(VI) under visible light irradiation. When coupled with TiO2, PFT served not only as the electron donor for Cr(VI) reduction, but also as a sensitizer. Upon irradiation by visible light, electrons in the sensitizing PFT polymer are excited and are transferred to the conduction band of TiO2. PFT-catalyzed reduction of Cr(VI) was significantly promoted by the presence of phenol, and synergism between Cr(VI) reduction and phenol degradation was demonstrated both by analysis of the FT-IR spectrum of PFT/TiO2 and by measuring the effect of repeated use of PFT/TiO2 on its photocatalytic efficiency. The results provide a cost-effective method to remove organic and inorganic pollutants simultaneously in the complex wastewater.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory bowel diseases consist of uncontrolled intestinal inflammation leading to mucosal disruption. Polyphenols are micronutrients with antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory properties and may play an interesting role in the prevention of intestinal inflammation. Lemon verbena (Aloysia triphylla (L'Herit.) Britton, Verbenaceae) infusion is a popular herbal drink rich in polyphenols. This study evaluated the protective effects of lemon verbena infusion consumption on the development of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)‐induced colitis in rats. The infusion was given to rats as a drink providing 82 µmol polyphenols day?1 for 21 days. Colitis was induced with 40 g l?1 DSS in the drink for the last 7 days. RESULTS: Lemon verbena infusion treatment restored body weight gain and prevented colonic shortening. Despite no protective effect on myeloperoxidase activity, A. triphylla infusion limited histological colonic alterations. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that lemon verbena infusion partially protects rats against DSS‐induced inflammation. Copyright © 2011 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

ABCB4 (ATP-binding cassette subfamily B member 4) is an ABC transporter expressed at the canalicular membrane of hepatocytes where it ensures phosphatidylcholine secretion into bile. Genetic variations of ABCB4 are associated with several rare cholestatic diseases. The available treatments are not efficient for a significant proportion of patients with ABCB4-related diseases and liver transplantation is often required. The development of novel therapies requires a deep understanding of the molecular mechanisms regulating ABCB4 expression, intracellular traffic, and function. Using an immunoprecipitation approach combined with mass spectrometry analyses, we have identified the small GTPase RAB10 as a novel molecular partner of ABCB4. Our results indicate that the overexpression of wild type RAB10 or its dominant-active mutant significantly increases the amount of ABCB4 at the plasma membrane expression and its phosphatidylcholine floppase function. Contrariwise, RAB10 silencing induces the intracellular retention of ABCB4 and then indirectly diminishes its secretory function. Taken together, our findings suggest that RAB10 regulates the plasma membrane targeting of ABCB4 and consequently its capacity to mediate phosphatidylcholine secretion.  相似文献

Enhanced recovery of crude oil by surfactant flooding requires the attainment of an ultralow interfacial tension. Since Winsor’s work in the 1950s it has been known that a minimum interfacial tension and a concomitant three-phase behavior of a surfactant–oil–water system occurs when the interactions of the surfactant and the oil and water phases are exactly equal. It has been known since the 1970s that these conditions are attained when a linear correlation is satisfied between the formulation variables, which are characteristic parameters of the substances as well as the temperature. This first part of our review on how to attain ultralow interfacial tension for enhanced oil recovery shows how formulation scan techniques using these correlations are used to determine an optimum formulation and to characterize unknown surfactants and oils. The physicochemical significance of the original empirical correlation is reported as the surfactant affinity difference or hydrophilic–lipophilic deviation model. We report the range of accurate validity of, and how to test, this simple model with four variables.  相似文献

The study of odor dispersion, particularly its modeling, is an important decision tool for estimating the impact of human activities on the environment and its populations. In this sense, software to model the dispersion of odorous gases was developed and is presented. It is based on the theory established by H?gstr?m on the odor dispersion of puff emissions. This theory is applied to Gaussian models and takes the frequency of values for odor intensity over any time period into account. Such a model is able to consider the instantaneous characteristics of odor perception by human beings. Nine approaches that explore several solutions within the Gaussian domain for the atmospheric dispersion problem are proposed in software named ODODIS (ODOr DISpersion Software). This software was developed to test the different solutions. Four of these solutions are based on the punctual (or point source) emission or classic equation; two are based on the instantaneous punctual emission equation; and the other three, on the prolonged punctual emission equation (puff models). Measuring units used for the input data may be g s(-1) or OU (Odor Units). The software developed here satisfies the need to obtain instantaneous data of either a passive or an odorous gas at a specific point of an area. The simulation time varies depending on the purpose of the analysis. Mean concentration values may be obtained by integrating the instantaneous results generated by the model.  相似文献

Composite manufacturing processes usually proceed from preimpregnated preforms that are consolidated by simultaneously applying heat and pressure, so as to ensure a perfect contact compulsory for making molecular diffusion possible. However, in practice, the contact is rarely perfect. This results in a rough interface where air could remain entrapped, thus affecting the effective thermal conductivity. Moreover, the interfacial melted polymer is squeezed flowing in the rough gap created by the fibers located on the prepreg surfaces. Because of the typical dimensions of a composite prepreg, with thickness orders of magnitude smaller than its other in-plane dimensions, and its surface roughness having a characteristic size orders of magnitude smaller than the prepreg thickness, high-fidelity numerical simulations for elucidating the impact of surface and interface roughness remain today, despite the impressive advances in computational availabilities, unattainable. This work aims at elucidating roughness impact on heat conduction and the effective viscosity of the interfacial polymer squeeze flow by using an advanced numerical strategy able to reach resolutions never attained until now, a sort of numerical microscope able to attain the scale of the smallest geometrical detail.  相似文献

Acceptance of the theoretical foundations of Management Information Systems (MIS) has remained surprisingly high in the past twenty years, whereas information processing technologies have been improving at an incredible rate. This stability appears to be because the MIS model is based on the cybernetic model of organizations. We see, however, a conceptual crisis due in the development of more and more complex information systems and increased questioning of the deficiencies of organizational models based on cybernetic theory. This is particularly highlighted by the problems encountered in introducing the “bounded rationality paradigm” of H.A. Simon into the model.In this paper, we propose a new model that should be better adapted to contempory technology. This model allows both order and disorder to be included, while incorporating the concept of “organizational memory,” to improve the representation of a complex organizational information system with an action and process aspect.  相似文献
