Electrically and thermally conductive polymer composites offer great possibilities in various electronic fields because of their low weight and ease of processing. This paper addresses the curing behaviour and network properties of conducting multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)‐reinforced natural rubber (NR) nanocomposites, emphasizing the sensing and diffusion performances. NR/MWCNT composites were prepared following a special master batch technique which allows the appropriate distribution of nanotubes within the elastomer. The sensing responses of the composites towards solvents were observed as variations in electrical resistance. Thermal resistance and glass transition behaviour were examined and correlated with the swelling measurements as evidence for solvent sensing. An optimum level of 3 phr of MWCNTs is understood to lead to the best properties for the NR/MWCNT composites. Finally, the structural morphology and interfacial interactions were found to have correlations with cure reactions, glass transition temperatures and sensing responses of all compositions. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Self‐assembling peptide amphiphiles (PAs) can form hierarchically ordered membranes when brought in contact with aqueous polyelectrolytes of the opposite charge by rapidly creating a diffusion barrier composed of filamentous nanostructures parallel to the plane of the incipient membrane. Following this event, osmotic forces and charge complexation template nanofiber growth perpendicular to the plane of the membrane in a dynamic self‐assembly process. In this work, we show that this hierarchical structure requires massive interfacial aggregation of PA molecules, suggesting the importance of rapid diffusion barrier formation. Strong PA aggregation is induced here through the use of heparin‐binding PAs with heparin and also with polyelectrolytes of varying charge density. Small angle X‐ray scattering shows that in the case of weak PA‐polyelectrolyte interaction, membranes formed display a cubic phase ordering on the nanoscale that likely results from clusters of PA nanostructures surrounded by polyelectrolyte chains.  相似文献

The tribologic properties of graphitized carbon blacks and their fluorinated derivatives are investigated as a function of the fluorination rate. Very low intrinsic friction coefficients are obtained for highly fluorinated compounds. The correlation of the tribologic results and structural investigations of the initial compounds by TEM strongly suggests that the friction mechanisms involve surface effects in the early stage of friction. Long-term tribologic experiments and Raman analyses point out an evolution of the structure and composition of the tribofilms during the friction process leading to similar friction properties of the tribofilms. Wear studies revealed that highly fluorinated derivatives appear less efficient than pristine and weakly fluorinated compounds.  相似文献

This paper proposes partial steam reforming of natural gas as a chemical storage option for excess electricity. Thermodynamic simulations with Aspen Plus® show that highest process efficiencies are reached at low steam-to-carbon (S/C) ratios in the feed. However, coke deposition due to unwanted side or follow-up reactions and thus catalyst deactivation is likely in this operation range. In an experimental evaluation three catalysts were selected to test their resistance towards coking: two nickel based and one rhodium based noble metal catalyst. They were tested regarding their long-term stability at S/C ratios as low as 0 to 0.1 and reaction temperatures between 450 and 500 °C. A different reaction and deactivation behavior was observed for nickel and the noble metal catalysts. The measured life times of the noble metal catalyst were by a factor of at least 100 higher than for the two selected nickel catalysts at the applied reforming conditions. Furthermore, after each reforming experiment, a temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO) analysis was performed for the spent catalysts. Based on literature data, the measured CO2 peaks at corresponding temperatures were related to the different forms of solid carbon depositions. Main carbonaceous species found on the nickel catalysts were of filamentous nature, whereas one or two more reactive C species with monoatomic or polymeric structure at much lower amount were detected on the noble metal catalyst. We describe the use of surface plasmon- and surface plasmon fieldenhanced fluorescence spectroscopy for the detection of hybridization reactions between surface-attached probe oligonucleotides and complement strands binding from solution. These targets, exhibiting different base mismatches relative to the probe 15-mer sequences, carry a fluorophore at their 5'-end thus allowing for sensitive detection and quantification of association, kon, and dissociation, koff, rate constants, as well as affinity constants, Ka. We demonstrate that by the competitive binding / replacement of single strand binding proteins the mismatch discrimination can be further enhanced.  相似文献

The perception of a visual target can be strongly influenced by flanking stimuli. In static displays, performance on the target improves when the distance to the flanking elements increases—presumably because feature pooling and integration vanishes with distance. Here, we studied feature integration with dynamic stimuli. We show that features of single elements presented within a continuous motion stream are integrated largely independent of spatial distance (and orientation). Hence, space-based models of feature integration cannot be extended to dynamic stimuli. We suggest that feature integration is guided by perceptual grouping operations that maintain the identity of perceptual objects over space and time. Phase transition temperatures can be used for thermometer calibrations in accordance with the ITS-90. For this the thermometer is inserted into a fixed-point cell filled with a highly pure substance. While the substance is melting or freezing the temperature inside the cell remains almost constant and the thermometer measures a plateau in the temperature curve. From this plateau the phase transition temperature needs to be estimated for the calibration of the thermometer. This can be done using different mathematical methods, taking into account various systematic deviations as well as reproducibilities of the results depending on the chosen method, the fixed-point material’s purity and above all the amount of fixed-point material. Hence this article presents results from measurements in miniature fixed-point cells filled with zinc of various purities. The plateau curves were measured at different heating rates and comparatively analysed using five different estimation methods.  相似文献
