Document caching and connection caching are extensively studied problems. In document caching, one has to maintain caches containing documents accessible in a network. In connection caching, one has to maintain a set of open network connections that handle data transfer. Previous work investigated these two problems separately while in practice the problems occur together: In order to load a document, one has to establish a connection between network nodes if the required connection is not already open. In this paper we present the first study that integrates document and connection caching. We first consider a very basic model in which all documents have the same size and the cost of loading a document or establishing a connection is equal to 1. We present deterministic and randomized online algorithms that achieve nearly optimal competitive ratios unless the size of the connection cache is extremely small. We then consider general settings where documents have varying sizes. We investigate a FAULT model in which the loading cost of a document is 1 as well as a BIT model in which the loading cost is equal to the size of the document.  相似文献

The effect of cyclic stressing on the strength of single lap adhesive joints has been studied and a considerable reduction in strength observed when the maximum stress exceeds about 40% of the ultimate tensile strength, but whether or not a true endurance limit exists is not proven. Zusammenfassung Die Isolierung der Saccharase (E.C. 3.2.1.20) aus den Proteinkonzentraten von Raps-, Tannen- und Zuckerfütterungshonig wird beschrieben. Die Abtrennung von anderen Enzymen, insbesondere von saurer Phosphatase gelingt durch hydrophobe Wechselwirkungschromatographie, von inerten Proteinen durch Gelfiltration. Im Zusammenhang damit wird das Verhalten des Enzyms bei der Chromatographie an Anionenaustauschern, an Hydroxylapatit und an immobilisiertem Weizenkeimlectin untersucht. Dabei ergab sich am Lectin-Gel eine Trennung in zwei multiple Formen.Die Saccharase aus allen drei Honigsorten verhielt sich einheitlich, woraus zu schließen ist, daß sie ausschließlich von der Biene stammt. Ihre Molekül masse wurde gelchromatographisch zu 57000 ermittelt.

Summary The isolation of the honey sucrase (E.C. 3.2.1.20) from rape- and fir-honey as well as from honey obtained after sugar feeding is described. The separation from other honey enzymes especially from acid phosphatase succeded by reversed phase chromatography. Separation of other, non-active proteins was accomplished by gel permeation chromatography. The behaviour of the honey sucrase upon chromatography on anion exchangers, on hydroxylapatite and wheat germ lectin was investigated. No differences were found between the sucrases of the three honeys.The molecular weight was determined at 57 000. By affinity chromatography with wheat germ lectin the enzyme could be separated into two multiple forms.

During homogenisation of AA 6xxx aluminium alloys, the platelike β-AlFeSi intermetallic phase will transform to a less Si-rich and more spheroidised α-Al(FeMn)Si phase which is more favourable for extrusion. In this study, several quantitative methods, which determine the relative volume fraction of α-Al(FeMn)Si and β-AlFeSi, are compared and an assessment of each method is made. The methods used are optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in combination with electron dispersive X-ray (EDX) using polished samples, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) on intermetallics, extracted through selective dissolution of the Al matrix. The highest accuracy is obtained by using SEM/EDX analysis and applying two criteria.  相似文献

We present an algorithm for performing attributed graph matching. This algorithm is derived from a generalized framework for describing functionally expanded interpolators which is based on the theory of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces (RKHS). The algorithm incorporates a general approach to a wide class of graph matching problems based on attributed graphs, allowing the structure of the graphs to be based on multiple sets of attributes. Alcohol oxidase (AO) catalyses the first step of methanol metabolism in yeasts. In vivo the enzyme is compartmentalized in special cell compartments, called peroxisomes. The enzyme along with the organelles are induced during growth of methylotrophic yeasts on methanol as the sole carbon source. Like all other peroxisomal matrix proteins, AO is encoded by a nuclear gene. Expression of the protein is regulated by a repression/derepression mechanism, but also by induction. Inactive monomeric precursor protein is synthesized in the cytosol and subsequently imported post-translationally into peroxisomes without further processing. Assembly into the active homo-octameric enzyme and binding of the prosthetic group flavin adenine dinucleotide occurs inside the organelle. When enhanced concentration of octameric alcohol oxidase are present in the organelles, the enzyme may form a crystalloid. Oligomerization is not dependent on translocation of AO precursors into their target organelle since octameric, active AO is detected in the cytosol and nucleus of peroxisome-deficient mutants of Hansenula polymorpha: at high expression rates large cytosolic AO crystalloids are formed, which occasionally are also encountered inside the nucleus of such mutants. This paper summarizes recent findings and views on the mechanisms involved in synthesis, import, assembly and crystallization of this important peroxisomal enzyme.  相似文献
