Over 1 700 companies, associations and research institutes presented the latest innovations in the areas of foundry technology, castings, metallurgy and thermal process engineering in Düsseldorf.     

Mechanical resistance properties of gravel used in subsurface flow constructed wetlands: implications for clogging

Gravel constitutes the filter medium in subsurface flow constructed wetlands (SSF CWs) and its porosity and hydraulic conductivity decrease over time (clogging), limiting the lifespan of the systems. Using gravel of poor quality accelerates clogging in wetlands. In this study, gravel samples from six different wetland systems were compared with regards to their mineral composition and mechanical resistance properties. Results showed that both mineralogy and texture are related to mechanical resistance. Accordingly, gravel with high content of quartz (> 80%) showed a lower percentage of broken particles (0.18-1.03%) than those with lower content of quartz (2.42-4.56% media broken). Although granite is formed by high durability minerals, its non-uniform texture results in a lower resistance to abrasion (ca. 10% less resistance than calcareous gravel). Therefore, it is recommended to use gravels composed mainly of quartz or, when it is not available, limestone gravels (rounded and uniform) are recommended instead. The resistance to abrasion (LAA test) seems to be a good indicator to determine the mechanical properties of gravels used in CWs. It is recommended to use gravels with LAA below 30% in order to avoid a rapid clogging due to gravel crumbling and subsequent mineral solids accumulation.

Color encoding for polychromatic single-channel optical pattern recognition

The common multichannel system for recognizing colored images is replaced by a color-encoded single-channel system. Amethod inspired by the Munsell color system is used for encoding the different colors as phase and amplitude functions. It is shown that for many practical cases the phase information part of the color code is sufficient for obtaining good results. An implementation based on a liquid-crystal television panel that works in a phase-modulation mode is suggested. Computer simulations that demonstrate the capabilities of the suggested method are given as well as a comparison with previously published multichannel performance.     

Microbial growth and biochemical changes on naturally contaminated chilled-beef subcutaneous adipose tissue stored aerobically

Naturally contaminated beef-brisket fat showed a psychrotroph count of 4 × 10(9) CFU/cm(2) after 14 days of aerobic refrigerated storage (5°C ± 1°C). Pseudomonas was the predominating genus. Other micro-organisms, such as Enterobacteriaceae and Brochothrix thermosphacta, grew up to 2·5 × 10(8) cfu/cm(2) and 1·6 × 10(8) cfu/cm(2), respectively. Concentrations of different substrates that could support microbial growth were measured. Glucose concentration dropped to approximately one-third of the initial level during the first week of storage. Lactic acid also declined. Free fatty acids increased significantly (P < 0·05) during refrigeration. However, other lipid-deterioration indices, such as the thiobarbituric acid number and the peroxide value, remained unchanged. Beef subcutaneous fat had a high initial microbial load and a capacity to support extensive bacterial growth. It may therefore constitute an important source of contamination for meat and manufactured meat products.     

计及时间演变和空间相关的多风电场短期功率预测

针对多风电场站和多时间步的日前风电功率预测问题,提出了同时计及单风场功率时间演变和多风电场间空间相关的深度时空融合多风电场短期功率预测模型。它由门控循环单元、多核卷积层和时变模式注意力机制共同构成。首先通过门控循环单元和多核卷积层分别提取各风电场历史风电数据的时序和多周期特征;然后引入时变模式注意力机制对多风电场时变特征的演变模式赋予相关性权重,同时实现对多风电场功率时间演变规律的纵向追踪与横向对比。中国北方某风电基地实际算例结果表明,所提预测模型能有效利用风电功率时空特性,与现有多种预测模型相比具有更高的预测精度和更强的风功率时变模式学习能力。     

Fractional-Fourier-transform calculation through the fast-Fourier-transform algorithm

A method for the calculation of the fractional Fourier transform (FRT) by means of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm is presented. The process involves mainly two FFT's in cascade; thus the process has the same complexity as this algorithm. The method is valid for fractional orders varying from -1 to 1. Scaling factors for the FRT and Fresnel diffraction when calculated through the FFT are discussed.     

基于QoS的Web服务选择算法综述*

服务选择算法是影响组合服务的QoS和服务组合性能高低的关键因素。针对近几年来基于QoS的Web服务选择算法的发展状况进行了综述,介绍和总结了当前基于QoS的Web服务选择问题模型,对服务选择策略进行了分类,并对当前的一些典型的基于QoS的Web服务选择算法进行了系统的分析和评论。最后指出了现有算法中的不足之处,展望了该领域的进一步研究方向。     

构建警务技能虚拟学习社区研究

当今的公安进修体制,已经无法跟上日益增长的公安工作要求,并且侧重于理论研究的课程内容,让公安民警无法将所学知识运用在工作实践中.因此模拟的真实执法情景,让公安民警将理论与实际相结合,将理论真正的运用于警务执勤中,并且可以促进公安民警提升自身解决警务工作的能力与应变能力.文章构建出一个以案例为核心,借助网络交流虚拟社区为基础的公安专业发展空间,为提升民警的专业技能和基础知识的奠定,并促进公安专业深化改革与发展.
