Symbolic dynamic filtering (SDF) has been recently reported in literature as a pattern recognition tool for early detection of anomalies (i.e., deviations from the nominal behavior) in complex dynamical systems. This paper presents a review of SDF and its performance evaluation relative to other classes of pattern recognition tools, such as Bayesian Filters and Artificial Neural Networks, from the perspectives of: (i) anomaly detection capability, (ii) decision making for failure mitigation and (iii) computational efficiency. The evaluation is based on analysis of time series data generated from a nonlinear active electronic system. This work deals with multisensor data fusion to obtain landcover classification. The role of feature-level fusion using the Dempster-Shafer rule and that of data-level fusion in the MRF context is studied in this paper to obtain an optimally segmented image. Subsequently, segments are validated and classification accuracy for the test data is evaluated. Two examples of data fusion of optical images and a synthetic aperture radar image are presented, each set having been acquired on different dates. Classification accuracies of the technique proposed are compared with those of some recent techniques in literature for the same image data.  相似文献

A simple technique has been suggested to obtain optimal segmentation based on tonal and textural characteristics of an image using the Markov random field (MRF) model. The technique takes an initially over segmented image as well as the original image as its inputs and defines an MRF over the region adjacency graph (RAG) of the initially segmented regions. A tonal-region based segmentation technique due to Kartikeyan and Sarkar (1989) has been used for initial segmentation. The energy function has been defined over the first order cliques of the MRF. The essence of this approach is primarily based on quantitative values of the second order statistics, on region characteristics and consequently deciding upon the action of merging neighboring regions using the F-statistic. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated with wide variety of real life examples viz., indoor, outdoor and satellite and a comparison of its output with that of a previous work in the literature has been provided.  相似文献

Imprint lithography has emerged as a reliable, reproducible, and rapid method for patterning colloidal nanostructures. As a promising alternative to top-down lithographic approaches, the fabrication of nanodevices has thus become effective and straightforward. In this study, a fusion of interference lithography (IL) and nanosphere imprint lithography on various target substrates ranging from carbon film on transmission electron microscope grid to inorganic and dopable polymer semiconductor is reported. 1D plasmonic photonic crystals are printed with 75% yield on the centimeter scale using colloidal ink and an IL-produced polydimethylsiloxane stamp. Atomically smooth facet, single-crystalline, and monodisperse colloidal building blocks of gold (Au) nanoparticles are used to print 1D plasmonic grating on top of a titanium dioxide (TiO2) slab waveguide, producing waveguide-plasmon polariton modes with superior 10 nm spectral line-width. Plasmon-induced hot electrons are confirmed via two-terminal current measurements with increased photoresponsivity under guiding conditions. The fabricated hybrid structure with Au/TiO2 heterojunction enhances photocatalytic processes like degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye molecules using the generated hot electrons. This simple colloidal printing technique demonstrated on silicon, glass, Au film, and naphthalenediimide polymer thus marks an important milestone for large-scale implementation in optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

In this work, trajectory optimization of an aerodynamically controlled hypersonic boost glide class of flight vehicle is presented. In order to meet the mission constraints such as controllability, skin temperature, and terminal conditions etc., the trajectory is optimized using a pattern search algorithm with the lift to drag (L/D) ratio as a control parameter. It is brought out that the approach offers a viable tool for optimizing trajectories for the considered class of vehicles. Further, the effects of the constraints on trajectory shape and performance are studied and the analysis is used to bring out an optimal vehicle configuration at the initial stage of the design process itself. The research also reveals that the pattern search algorithm offers superior performance in comparison with the genetic algorithm for this class of optimization problem.  相似文献

CdTe nanowires with controlled composition were cathodically electrodeposited using track-etched polycarbonate membrane as scaffolds and their material and electrical properties were systematically investigated. As-deposited CdTe nanowires show nanocrystalline cubic phase structures with grain sizes of up to 60 nm. The dark-field images of nanowires reveal that the crystallinity of nanowires was greatly improved from nanocrystalline to a few single crystals within nanowires upon annealing at 200?°C for 6?h in a reducing environment (5%?H(2)+95%?N(2)). For electrical characterization, a single CdTe nanowire was assembled across microfabricated gold electrodes using the drop-casting method. In addition to an increase in grain size, the electrical resistivity of an annealed single nanowire (a few 10(5)?Ω?cm) was one order of magnitude greater than in an as-deposited nanowire, indicating that crystallinity of nanowires improved and defects within nanowires were reduced during annealing. By controlling the dopants levels (e.g.?Te content of nanowires), the resistivity of nanowires was varied from 10(4) to 10(0)?Ω?cm. Current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of nanowires indicated the presence of Schottky barriers at both ends of the Au/CdTe interface. Temperature-dependent I-V measurements show that the electron transport mode was determined by a thermally activated component at T>-50?°C and a temperature-independent component below -50?°C. Under optical illumination, the single CdTe nanowire exhibited enhanced conductance.  相似文献

Wavelet-like transformations have been used in the past to compress dense large matrices into a sparse system. However, they generally are implemented through a finite impulse response filter realized through the formulation of Daubechies (1992). A method is proposed to use a very high order filter (namely an ideal one) and use the computationally efficient fast Fourier transform (FFT) to carry out the multiresolution analysis. The goal here is to reduce the redundancy in the system and also guarantee that the wavelet coefficients drop off much faster. Hence, the efficiency of the new procedure becomes clear for very high order filters. The advantage of the FFT-based procedure utilizing ideal filters is that it can be computationally efficient and for very large matrices may yield a sparse matrix. However, this is achieved, as well known in the literature, at the expense of robustness, which may lead to a larger reconstruction error due to the presence of the Gibb's phenomenon. In this paper, the forced convective heat transfer enhancement with nanofluids in a 90° pipe bend has been presented. Numerical investigation is carried out for the turbulent flow through the pipe employing finite volume method. The governing differential equations are discretized using hexahedral cells, and the resulting algebraic equations are solved using Commercial solver Fluent 6.3. In order to close the time averaged Navier–Stokes equations, the two-equation k? turbulence model with a standard wall function have been used. The duct Reynolds number is varied in the range of 2,500–6,000. It is observed that the heat transfer is enhanced significantly by varying the volume fraction of the nanofluid. It is also found that the heat transfer is increased with Reynolds number. A strong secondary flow is observed due to the presence of the wall. Turbulent kinetic energy near outer wall is found to be higher than the inner wall of the bend. A comparative assessment for the heat transfer enhancement with different types of nanofluids is also presented. The computed results of area weighted average Nusselt numbers are validated with some of the existing literature.  相似文献
