Transient complexes are crucial for diverse biological processes such as biochemical pathways and signaling cascades in the cell. Here, we give an overview of the transient interactions; the importance of transient interactions as drug targets; and the structural characterization of transient protein-protein complexes based on the geometrical and physicochemical features of the transient complexes' interfaces. To better understand and eventually design transient protein-protein interactions (TPPIs), a molecular perspective of the protein-protein interfaces is necessary. Obtaining high-quality structures of protein-protein interactions could be one way of achieving this goal. After introducing the association kinetics of TPPIs, we elaborate on the experimental techniques detecting TPPIs in combination with the computational methods which classify transient and/or non-obligate complexes. In this review, currently available databases and servers that can be used to identify and predict TPPIs are also compiled.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to prepare nanocomposite films composed of whey protein isolate (W) and carrageenan (C) with nanocellulose (N) for food packaging applications. Response surface methodology was applied to investigate the effect of W concentration (v/v, 0–100%), glycerol/sorbitol (G/S) ratio (0–1), and N concentration (w/w, 0–5%) on the physicomechanical properties of film samples. Higher W and N contents and lower G/S ratios showed positive effect on rigidity of film samples, while introducing high concentration of N increased the water vapor permeability values with increasing plasticizer and C concentration. The highest water uptake values were observed in C based films, while a higher C content resulted in lower opacity values. The addition of nanocellulose into whey protein and carrageenan blend films in the presence of a plasticizer mixture improved the suitability of selected biopolymers for food packaging applications when compared to their neat films. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The inherent functional property of the unidirectional token movement in a token ring network, is modified in this paper and an algorithm is presented that enables the continuity of operation, in case of a single link component failure, thereby improving the system reliability of a basic conventional token ring network. The effect of photostabilizers on the mechanical, thermal, and physical properties of textile fiber reinforced polymer (T‐FRP) composites was investigated. In the first phase of this study, the effect of different concentrations of ultra violet absorber (UVA), hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) and antioxidants (AOs) into T‐FRP composites for unweathering condition are examined. Mechanical tests were performed as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis for thermal properties. According to test results, there is no significant effect of photostabilizers on the mechanical and thermal properties of the T‐FRP composites. In the second phase of the study, the influence of the photostabilizers on the durability performance of T‐FRP composites is focused under the accelerated UV weathering condition by the help of tensile testing, thermal analysis, and color measurements. According to test results, only about 5% loss in mechanical properties (25% loss for composites without additives) can be observed after 240 h of UV weathering with HALS and UVA addition at adequate concentrations. In addition, AOs can be considered as a strong stabilizer on physical properties with lower color change values. This work shows that the efficiency of the photostabilizers is highly dependent on the type, concentration, and weathering time. POLYM. ENG. In this study, we consider an assembly line rebalancing problem with disruptions caused by workstation breakdowns or shutdowns. After the disruption, we aim to find a rebalance so as to catch the trade-off between the efficiency measure of cycle time and stability measure of number of tasks assigned to different workstations in the original and new balances. Our aim is to generate all nondominated objective vectors with respect to the efficiency and stability measures. We develop two optimisation algorithms: a Mixed Integer Linear Programming-based algorithm and a Branch and Bound algorithm. The results of our experiments have shown the favourable performances of both algorithms and the superiority of the Branch and Bound algorithm.  相似文献

Living polytetrahydrofuran (PTHF) was terminated with sodium thiophene methonate to yield a polymer with a thiophene group at one end. Copolymerizations of PTHF with pyrrole and thiophene were achieved in water‐p‐toluene sulfonic acid and acetonitrile‐tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) solvent‐electrolyte couples via constant potential electrolyses. Characterizations of the samples were performed by NMR, cyclic voltammetry, FT‐IR, thermal analyses, and scanning electron microscopy. Electrical conductivities were measured by the four‐probe technique. PTHF/PTh film that was deposited on ITO‐glass in a dichloromethane‐TBAFB solvent‐electrolyte couple was found to exhibit electrochromic behavior and it electrochemically switches between blue oxidized and red reduced states. The significance of detection and classification of power quality (PQ) events that disturbs the voltage and/or current waveforms in the electrical power distribution networks is well known. Consequently, in spite of a large number of research reports in this area, the problem of PQ event classification remains to be an important engineering problem. Several feature construction, pattern recognition, analysis, and classification methods were proposed for this purpose. In spite of the extensive number of such alternatives, a research on the comparison of “how useful these features with respect to each other using specific classifiers” was omitted. In this work, a thorough analysis is carried out regarding the classification strengths of an ensemble of celebrated features. The feature items were selected from well-known tools such as spectral information, wavelet extrema across several decomposition levels, and local statistical variations of the waveform. The tests are repeated for classification of several types of real-life data acquired during line-to-ground arcing faults and voltage sags due to the induction motor starting under different load conditions. In order to avoid specificity in classifier strength determination, eight different approaches are applied, including the computationally costly “exhaustive search” together with the leave-one-out technique. To further avoid specificity of the feature for a given classifier, two classifiers (Bayes and SVM) are tested. As a result of these analyses, the more useful set among a wider set of features for each classifier is obtained. It is observed that classification accuracy improves by eliminating relatively useless feature items for both classifiers. Furthermore, the feature selection results somewhat change according to the classifier used. This observation shows that when a new analysis tool or a feature is developed and claimed to perform “better” than another, one should always indicate the matching classifier for the feature because that feature may prove comparably inefficient with other classifiers.  相似文献

Fresh pickling cucumbers (cv. Troy) were stored for 30 days at 7°C and 90–95% relative humidity (RH) under different controlled atmosphere (CA) combinations, and samples taken at 0 (i.e., without storage), 10, 20 and 30 days of storage were processed to sweet pickle. At each sampling, physical and chemical analyses were carried out in the fresh pickling cucumbers to determine the changes in the quality with storage time. Besides, physical, chemical and sensory analyses were carried out in the pickles elaborated from the fresh samples taken at the same periods, after keeping at room temperature for 6 months, with the aim of determining CA and storage time effect on the final pickle quality. It was found that storage of cucumbers to be processed to pickle could be possible for less than 10 days at 7°C temperature and 90–95 RH under normal atmosphere (NA). However, physical and chemical analyses showed that storage period of fresh pickling cucumbers could be prolonged up to 30 days under the same storage conditions, if suitable atmosphere combinations are created. Nevertheless, it was concluded that restricting the storage period of fresh pickling cucumbers to 20 days could give better results after processing to pickle.
