Presently, several bone graft substitutes are being developed or already available for clinical use. However, the limited number of clinical and in vivo trials for direct comparison between these products may complicate this choice. One of the main reasons for this scarcity it is the use of models that do not readily allow the direct comparison of multiple bone graft substitutes, due especially to the small number of implantation sites. Although sheep cancellous bone models are now well established for these purposes, the limited availability of cancellous bone makes it difficult to find multiple comparable sites within a same animal. These limitations can be overcome by the monocortical model here proposed as it consists in 5–6 holes (5 mm Ø), in the femoral diaphysis, with similar bone structure, overlying soft tissue and loading pattern for all defects. Associated to this model, it is also described a fast histomorphometric analysis method using a computer image segmentation test (Threshold method) to assess bone regeneration parameters. The information compiled through the experimental use of 45 sheep in several studies allowed determining that this ovine model has the potential to demonstrate differences in bone-forming performance between various scaffolds. A 22 factorial design (two factors at two levels, in triplicate) was performed to investigate the influence of factors A (time of treatment, 15 and 30 days) and B (chia oil content in a supplemented diet, at 2.1 and 4.2 %) in three responses of interest referring to: (a) the incorporation of alpha‐linolenic acid (LNA) in lipids of Nile tilapia fillet; (b) the enhancement of n‐3 fatty acids; and (c) the decrease in the omega‐6/omega3 (n‐6/n‐3) ratio in fish. Factors A and B were significant in the three regression models obtained and the interaction AB was a significant contributor to the LNA and n‐6/n‐3 ratio. Analysis of variance suggested three significant and predictive mathematical models. Response surfaces analyses from designs indicated higher LNA and n‐3 contents and a lower n‐6/n‐3 ratio using both factors A and B in the higher levels (30 days of treatment and 4.2 % of chia oil in the diet for fish) chosen for this study. 相似文献

Industries need to adopt the environmental management concepts in the traditional supply chain management. The green supply chain management (GSCM) is an established concept to ensure environment-friendly activities in industry. This paper identifies the relationship of driving and dependence that exists between GSCM practices with regard to their adoption within Brazilian electrical/electronic industry with the help of interpretive structural modelling (ISM). From the results, we infer that cooperation with customers for eco-design practice is driving other practices, and this practice acts as a vital role among other practices. Commitment to GSCM from senior managers and cooperation with customers for cleaner production occupy the highest level. 相似文献

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of previous application of an adhesive system on bond strength of resinous liner materials to dentin. Methods: Ninety bovine incisors crowns had a 6 × 6 mm area of dentin exposed, with minimum of 2 mm thickness. They were embedded in acrylic resin, and the dentin was polished with P600 SiC sandpaper for 30 s to standardize the smear layer. The specimens were divided into 6 groups (n = 15) according to the application or not of a self-etching system (Futurabond U – Voco) and the type of resinous liner used: A+Ionoseal (adhesive and Ionoseal – Voco); Ionoseal (Ionoseal only); A+Vitrebond (adhesive and Vitrebond – 3M/ESPE); Vitrebond (Vitrebond only); A+Ionosit (adhesive and Ionosit – DMG) and Ionosit (Ionosit only). Adhesives were used following manufacturer’s instructions, and the liner materials were applied inside a 2-mm-depth matrix and light-cured for 20 s. The bond strength was measured by microtensile test, using a universal testing machine with a cross-speed of 1 mm/min. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test (p < 0.05). Results: The adhesive system application increased bond strength of all liners tested. Ionoseal presented the highest bond strength when the adhesive system was used and exhibited similar performance to Vitrebond without adhesive. Ionosit without adhesive showed the smallest bond strength compared with the other liners tested. Conclusion: The application of an adhesive system prior to the use of the resinous liners improved the bond strength to dentin and should be preconized. 相似文献

The preparation of a facilitated transport membrane of polyurethane (PU) containing silver nanoparticles is reported. The propylene and propane sorption was investigated aiming at the selective separation from C3s mixtures. The silver particles were photogenerated in situ into the polyurethane matrix using UV light radiation and silver triflate (AgCF3SO3) as precursor. The morphological properties of these membranes (PUAg) reveled great dispersion of silver particles, which size was smaller than 110 nm. The propylene solubility in PUAg resulted more than four times superior to the one for the pure PU membrane, revealing the high affinity between silver and propylene. Flory–Huggins theory was more accurate to describe the propylene sorption behavior in PUAg than Henry's model. The ideal solubility selectivity of PUAg membrane resulted 24.4, indicating that there is a good potential for an industrial application aiming at the separation of propylene/propane. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cupuassu fat is a good candidate for partial substitution of cocoa butter in many products, including emulsions. However, for such use it is necessary to know the characteristics of the products prepared with cupuassu fat. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to characterize emulsions prepared with cupuassu fat using the surfactants Tween® 60, Tween® 80 and Tween® 85 as emulsifiers. The emulsions were prepared at 43 °C with addition of 0.5 or 1.5 % (w/v) of surfactant and compared with an emulsion without surfactant. All emulsions were analysed by conductivity, stability, pH, optical microscopy, rheology and oxidative stability. It was verified that the emulsions prepared with Tween® 60 and Tween® 80 have higher stability, smaller droplet size and higher apparent viscosity. Also, these properties are positively influenced by the concentration of the surfactant. On the other hand, emulsions prepared with Tween 85 or without surfactant reached unsatisfactory results. The rheological behaviour of the emulsions was adequately described by both Herschel-Bulkley and Mizhari-Berki models revealing pseudoplastic character. These emulsions also present strong gel behaviour, with storage modulus higher than loss modulus. In conclusion, cupuassu fat can be used as oil phase for emulsions products and this characterization helps to understand their behaviour in order to increase their use in food industry. 相似文献

Oxidation stability is a parameter of great importance for biodiesel quality control to both producers and subsequent consumers. To maintain the quality of biodiesel, currently the most effective and economical method is the addition of antioxidants that prevent or retard the biofuel oxidation reaction. In this study, efficiency and cost of synthetic antioxidants added to B100 biodiesel from soybean oil and pork fat were evaluated, using butylhydroxyanisole (BHA), butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) and tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), in pure form or in mixtures, according to a simplex-centroid mixture experimental design. Results demonstrate an increased induction period (IP) in all trials when compared to the control sample, and TBHQ was the only antioxidant alone that met all the specification standards, while BHT and BHA alone met only the American standard specifications. The antioxidant mixture that presented the highest synergistic effect was that of TBHQ and BHA. Multi-response optimization indicated an optimum formulation containing 75 % TBHQ and 25 % BHA with an IP of 7.27 h at 110 °C and the antioxidant mixture cost of 31.31 USD, to be added for a ton of biodiesel. This simplex-centroid mixture experimental design shows an ability to be applied in the biodiesel, oils and fats industry to evaluate the oxidation stability and the occurrence of synergism between different mixtures of synthetic or natural antioxidants and their costs. 相似文献

Maize (Zea mays) is a cereal grown in Brazil, and its availability is limited to the harvest season. An alternative processing route is based on the production of green corn powder, which has a longer shelf-life and increased versatility. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of drying conditions on the physical characteristics, size, and morphology of green corn powder. Drying experiments were performed on a spray dryer according to a central composite rotational design to evaluate inlet air temperature, feed flow rate, and pulp concentration. The yield of dried pulp corn had an average value of 36.19%. The following mean values for the physical properties of the powder were measured: solubility of 94.37 g/100 g, wettability of 128.05 seconds, moisture content of 1.97%, water activity of 0.13, density of 0.79 g/mL, and a particle diameter of 31.02 µm. The powder was also yellow with less intensity, and the particle surface was smooth at higher temperatures and had a tendency to form agglomerates. The estimated optimal conditions for spray drying were 48% (w/w) pulp concentration, 172°C inlet air temperature, and feed flow rate of 0.56 L/h. 相似文献

Nephrotoxicity is a major cause of intrinsic acute kidney injury (AKI). Because renal tissue damage may occur independently of a reduction in glomerular filtration rate and of elevations in plasma creatinine concentration, so-called injury biomarkers have been proposed to form part of diagnostic criteria as reflective of tubular damage independently of renal function status. We studied whether the urinary level of NGAL, KIM-1, GM2AP, t-gelsolin, and REGIIIb informed on the extent of tubular damage in rat models of nephrotoxicity, regardless of the etiology, moment of observation, and underlying pathophysiology. At a time of overt AKI, urinary biomarkers were measured by Western blot or ELISA, and tubular necrosis was scored from histological specimens stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Correlation and regression studies revealed that only weak relations existed between biomarkers and tubular damage. Due to high interindividual variability in the extent of damage for any given biomarker level, urinary injury biomarkers did not necessarily reflect the extent of the underlying tissue injury in individual rats. We contended, in this work, that further pathophysiological contextualization is necessary to understand the diagnostic significance of injury biomarkers before they can be used for renal tubular damage severity stratification in the context of nephrotoxic and, in general, intrinsic AKI. 相似文献
