Fully dense multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)/SiO2 nanocomposites with MWCNTs contents of 5 and 10 vol% have been processed by spark plasma sintering, and the electrical conductivities of the nanocomposites were evaluated at temperatures ranging from 5 to 300 K. It has been found that the incorporation of MWCNTs converted an insulating silica nanoceramic into metallically conductive composites. The room-temperature conductivities of the nanocomposites, with over 14 orders of magnitude compared with pure silica, are in the range of 8 and 65 S/m. Also, it was interestingly found that the conductivity increased linearly with temperature from 5 to 300 K.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction of zirconium and hafnium in alkali chloride or fluoride-chloride molten salts on platinum electrodes has been investigated by means of linear and cyclic voltammetry. It has been found that fluoride ions greatly influenced the reduction of zirconium and hafnium in fluoride-chloride melts. It has been proposed that the mechanism for reduction of zirconium and hafnium in baths containing a low concentration of fluoride compounds is different from the mechanism in baths containing a higher fluoride concentration.  相似文献

The SiCP/Al–4 mass%Cu alloy composites fabricated by a low-pressure infiltration process (LPI process) were remelted and separated by nozzle filtering method. In the separation process, the PRMMC specimen was placed in a container with a small nozzle at the bottom. The molten PRMMC was forced to flow out through the nozzle by applying a certain pressure of Ar gas. Most of the molten matrix alloy flowed out through the nozzle and the remainder in the container consisted of SiC particles and a part of the matrix alloy. The particle volume fraction of the remainder was higher than that of the original PRMMC and the remainder would work as a filter to separate SiC particles from the matrix alloy melt. When nozzle tip angle was ranged from 60° to 120°, about 80% of matrix alloy in the PRMMC was separated and few SiC particles were observed in the separated matrix alloy. The surface of recovered SiC particles became slightly roughened due to the reaction with the molten matrix during the separation process. However, this is not expected to affect their reuse.  相似文献

A retinal prosthesis device with built-in self-test capability is proposed and demonstrated. The measurement of electrode impedance as a self-test is achieved without increasing the chip area by employing analogue multiplexers to allow the electrodes to be used for both stimulation of retinal cells and measurement of impedance. Measurement is performed using a four-terminal method to ensure good accuracy. A prototype stimulus chip with 16/spl times/16 channels is fabricated using standard 0.6 /spl mu/m CMOS technology, and is demonstrated to provide self-test functionality with error of as little as 0.05% in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 100 kHz.  相似文献

A low-cost and simple on-site technique for genotyping single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) was developed. The technique is based on allele-specific primer PCR and the recently developed bead arrays in a single tip technique. We have purified a heat-stable catalase from a thermophilic bacterium, Thermus species strain YS 8-13. The enzyme was purified 160-fold from crude cellular extracts and possessed a specific activity of 8000 units/mg at 65 degrees C. The purified enzyme displayed the highest activity at pH 7 to 10 and temperatures around 85 degrees C. The catalase was determined to be a manganese catalase, based on results from atomic absorption spectra and inhibition experiments using sodium azide. The enzyme was composed of six identical subunits of molecular weight 36,000. Amino acid sequences determined from the purified protein were used to design oligonucleotide primers, which were in turn used to clone the coding gene. The nucleotide sequence of a 1.4-kb fragment of Thermus sp. YS 8-13 genomic DNA containing a 909-bp open reading frame was determined. The gene encoded a 302-residue polypeptide of deduced molecular weight 33,303. The deduced amino acid sequence displayed a region-specific homology with the sequences of the manganese catalase from a mesophilic organism, Lactobacillus plantarum.  相似文献

Feeding atomized aqueous solutions containing TiCl4 into an argon high-temperature inductively coupled plasma (ICP) resulted in the formation of mixtures of white and blue particles. The mixtures consisted of anatase and an extra phase of rutile. Adding oxygen to the ICP led to the production of a single phase of white anatase. The blue particles could be characterized as oxygen-deficient anatase. Electrophoretic mobility measurements indicated that Na+ participated in determining the surface potential of the mixtures. The oxygen defects may provide the adsorption sites to Na+.  相似文献
