By means of a Gleeble machine, the flow stress at steady-state creep in an AA3103 aluminium alloy has been measured for temperatures and strain rates relevant for thermally induced deformations in DC casting. The strain rate has been determined by measuring the global radial strain rate at the specimen center by an extensometer, and the stress has been set equal to the force in the axial direction divided by the cross-section area. The parameters of Garofalo's equation have been fitted to the resulting steady-state stress and strain rate. Such a method is based upon the assumption of homogeneous stress and strain rate fields. In the Gleeble machine, the specimens are heated by the Joule effect leading to axial temperature gradients, and the specimen geometry is noncylindrical. The resulting inhomogeneities in the stress and strain rate fields are studied by finite element modeling, and it is shown that although they can be significant, the global radial strain rate and the axial force divided by the cross-section area at the specimen center can be relatively close to what the respective strain rate and stress values would have been if the conditions actually were homogeneous.  相似文献

Amino acids were used as sole nitrogen sources to examine their effects on the production of water-soluble red pigments and citrinin by Monascus ruber ATCC 96218 cultivated on chemically defined media. In general, when glycine, tyrosine, arginine, serine, or histidine were used as sole nitrogen sources, they favored the production of red pigments, and restricted the synthesis of the mycotoxin. In contrast, the production of citrinin was enhanced in media supplemented with either glutamate, alanine, or proline. Histidine was found to be the most valuable amino acid as it resulted in the highest production of red pigments and almost completely eliminated the formation of mycotoxin.  相似文献

The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) has been implicated in various attentional functions. This experiment examined the involvement of mPFC subregions in the allocation of attention in learning and action as a function of the predictive accuracy of cues. Rats with dorsal (encompassing anterior cingulate, prelimbic, and infralimbic cortices) or ventral (encompassing mainly infralimbic and dorsopeduncular cortices and tenia tecta) mPFC lesions were trained in a multiple-choice discrimination task in which operant nosepoke responses to some visual cues were consistently (100%) reinforced (CRF) with food, whereas responses to other visual cues were partially (50%) reinforced (PRF). In challenge tests designed to assess attention in the control of action, responding was directed more to CRF cues than to PRF cues in sham and dorsal mPFC-lesioned rats, but ventral mPFC-lesioned rats showed similar levels of responding to both CRF and PRF cues. Nevertheless, when given a choice between simultaneously presented CRF and PRF cues in a cue competition test, all groups responded more to CRF cues. In a subsequent Pavlovian overshadowing phase designed to assess attention in the acquisition of new learning, previously trained CRF cues overshadowed conditioning to novel auditory cues more than did PRF cues in dorsal mPFC-lesioned rats, whereas the opposite pattern was observed in sham and ventral mPFC-lesioned rats. These results suggest a dissociation within the mPFC in the use of reinforcement prediction information to allocate attention for new learning and for the control of action. Westinghouse is currently developing the MEFISTO code with the main goal to achieve fast, robust, practical and reliable prediction of steady-state dryout Critical Power in Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fuel bundle based on a mechanistic approach. A computationally efficient simulation scheme was used to achieve this goal, where the code resolves all relevant field (drop, steam and multi-film) mass balance equations, within the annular flow region, at the sub-channel level while relying on a fast and robust two-phase (liquid/steam) sub-channel solution to provide the cross-flow information. The MEFISTO code can hence provide highly detailed solution of the multi-film flow in BWR fuel bundle while enhancing flexibility and reducing the computer time by an order of magnitude as compared to a standard three-field sub-channel analysis approach.Models for the numerical computation of the one-dimensional field flowrate distributions in an open channel (e.g. a sub-channel), including the numerical treatment of field cross-flows, part-length rods, spacers grids and post-dryout conditions are presented in this paper. The MEFISTO code is then applied to dryout prediction in BWR fuel bundle using VIPRE-W as a fast and robust two-phase sub-channel driver code. The dryout power is numerically predicted by iterating on the bundle power so that the minimum film flowrate in the bundle reaches the dryout criteria. Predicted dryout powers (including trends with flow, pressure, inlet subcooling and power distribution) and predicted dryout locations (both axial and radial) are compared to experimental results, using the entire Westinghouse SVEA-96 Optima3 dryout database, and are shown to yield excellent results.  相似文献

Myo-inositol trispyrophosphate (ITPP), a synthetic allosteric effector of hemoglobin, increases the regulated oxygen-releasing capacity of red blood cells (RBCs), leading to suppression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) and to down-regulation of hypoxia-inducible genes such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). As a consequence, tumor growth is markedly affected. The effect of weekly intravenous injection of ITPP on an orthotopic, syngenic rat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) model was compared to that for untreated animals and animals subjected to conventional Doxorubicin chemotherapy. The longitudinal examination of HCC was performed by microCT imaging, and the cellular and molecular changes were evaluated by histology and Western blotting analysis of HIF-1α, VEGF, and caspase-3 gene expression in the tumor and in the surrounding liver. Hematologic impact was evaluated by blood cell-count measurement and determination of P50 (oxygen partial pressure for a 50 % oxygen saturation of hemoglobin). The HCC evaluation by microCT revealed a high potency of ITPP for tumor growth inhibition, thus allowing long-term survival and even cure of almost all the treated animals. The P50 value of hemoglobin in RBCs underwent a shift of 30 % following ITPP injection. Under these conditions, HIF-1α activity was strongly decreased, VEGF expression was down-regulated, and apoptosis was induced in HCC and surrounding liver cells, as indicated by Caspase-3 expression. ITPP did not affect hematologic parameters during treatment. The observations of in vivo tumor eradication suggest a significant clinical potential for ITPP in cancer therapy.  相似文献

Polyphosphorylated and perphosphorylated hexopyranose monosaccharides and disaccharides were synthesized from parent or partially protected carbohydrates as potential allosteric effectors of hemoglobin. A study toward the construction of seven- and eight-membered cyclic pyrophosphates was also performed on the sugars which had the proper orientation, protection, and number of phosphates. All final compounds were tested for their efficiency on oxygen release from human hemoglobin. Several compounds presented higher potency than myo-inositol hexakisphosphate, which is the most efficient of the known allosteric effectors of hemoglobin. Structure-activity relationships were analyzed. The affinity and efficiency depend on the number of phosphates attached to the carbohydrate skeleton and are related primarily to the number of negative charges present. Other effects operate, but play a lesser role.  相似文献

The morphology of solution grown single crystals of a series of double crystalline diblock copolymers derived from l-lactide and ?-caprolactone has been investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy. The copolymers had a variable composition with a poly(l-lactide) weight percentage that ranged between 81 and 10%. All samples had a low polydispersity index (1.4-1.1) and a similar number average molecular weight (20,000-35,000 g/mol).Bulk crystallization and melting behaviour of diblock copolymers were evaluated by DSC and the results demonstrated the double crystalline nature of the samples. Fractionated crystallization clearly occurred in copolymers having an intermediate composition.Isothermal crystallizations were performed in dilute n-hexanol solutions at temperatures that ranged between 80 and 50 °C. Crystal morphologies were dependent on the crystallization temperature and even on the composition. Thus, the inability of poly(?-caprolactone) (PCL) blocks to crystallize between 80 and 70 °C rendered lozenge, truncated and spindle-shaped crystals associated to the poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) block. These usually had thicker edges due to PLLA overgrowths that mainly took place in their periphery. However, an overgrowth of irregular PCL crystals during subsequent cooling and crystallization at room temperature was also detected. Complex morphologies constituted by lamellar crystals of both PCL and PLLA blocks were developed at intermediate temperatures (70-65 °C), whereas elongated hexagonal morphologies mainly associated to the PCL block were detected at the lowest crystallization temperature. In general, electron diffraction patterns showed for all samples’ reflections associated to both poly(?-caprolactone) and poly(l-lactide) (α-form) crystals. The relative intensity between the two types of reflections varied according to the copolymer composition.  相似文献
