A methodology to improve the efficiency of stochastic methods applied to the optimization of chemical processes with a large number of equality constraints is presented. The methodology is based on two steps: (a) the optimization of the simulation step, which involves the optimum choice of design variables and subsystems to be simultaneously solved; (b) the optimization of the nonlinear programming (NLP) problem using stochastic methods. For the first step a flexible tool (SIMOP) is used, whereby different numerical procedures can be easily obtained, taking into account the problem formulation and specific characteristics, the need for specific initialization schemes and the efficient solution of systems of nonlinear equations. This methodology was applied to the optimization of a reactive distillation process for the production of ethylene glycol. Due to the complexity of the mathematical model, several different numerical procedures were generated, and their influence on the computational burden and on the reliability and accuracy of the optimization to reach the global optimum were studied. The results obtained suggest that in addition to the choice of design variables, the structure of subsystems associated to numerical procedures has a considerable impact on the performance of the optimizers. 相似文献

A quantitative method was developed for the assay of vitamin K in human colostrum and milk. The procedure combines preparative
and analytical chromatography on silica gel in a nitrogen atmosphere followed by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography
(HPLC). Two HPLC steps were used: gradient separation with ultraviolet (UV) detection followed by isocratic separation detected
electrochemically. Due to co-migrating impurities, UV detection alone is insufficient for identification of vitamin K. Exogenous
vitamin K was shown to equilibrate with endogenous vitamin K in the samples. A statistical method was incorporated to control
for experimental variability. Vitamin K1 was analyzed in 16 pooled milk samples from 7 donors and in individual samples from 15 donors at 1 month post-partrum. Vitamin
K1 was present at 2.94±1.94 and 3.15±2.87 ng/mL in pools and in individuals, respectively. Menaquinones, the bacterial form

Spirulina (Arthrospira), a filamentous, unicellular alga, is a cyanobacterium grown in certain countries as food for human and animal consumption. It is also used to derive additives in pharmaceuticals and foods. This alga is a rich source of proteins, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and other nutrients. Its main use, therefore, is as a food supplement. Over the last few years, however, it has been found to have many additional pharmacological properties. Thus, it has been experimentally proven, in vivo and in vitro that it is effective to treat certain allergies, anemia, cancer, hepatotoxicity, viral and cardiovascular diseases, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, immunodeficiency, and inflammatory processes, among others. Several of these activities are attributed to Spirulina itself or to some of its components including fatty acids omega-3 or omega-6, beta-carotene, alpha-tocopherol, phycocyanin, phenol compounds, and a recently isolated complex, Ca-Spirulan (Ca-SP). This paper aims to update and critically review the results published over the last few years with regards to these properties. The conclusion is that even if this cyanobacterium has been one of the most extensively studied from the chemical, pharmacological and toxicological points of view, it is still necessary to expand the research in order to have more consistent data for its possible use in human beings. 相似文献

An optimization strategy has been applied to describe the chemical composition at the furnace bottom in the Kraft recovery boiler of a pulp production process. The concentrations of each involved chemical species were calculated through an optimization approach, minimizing the Gibbs free energy of the system. Various systems were proposed and tested, assuming different chemical species and phases number. Because serious initialization problems were found at this stage for some of the proposed systems, an optimization heuristic method (PSO) was used for the first approach to the problem. Once the appropriate phases number and chemical species in the system were determined, the initialization problems disappeared and the use of a deterministic optimization method (SQP) became viable. The proposed approach has shown to be satisfactory to reproduce industrial data and also data reported in the open scientific literature. 相似文献

Regenerating the load‐bearing tissues requires 3D scaffolds that balance the temporary mechanical function with the biological requirements. In functional tissue engineering, designing scaffolds with biomimetic mechanical properties could promote tissue ingrowth since the cells are sensitive to their local mechanical environment. This work aims to design scaffolds that mimic the mechanical response of the biological tissues under physiological loading conditions. Poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) scaffolds with varying porosities and pore sizes were made by the 3D‐plotting technique. The scaffolds were tested under unconfined ramp compression to compare their stress profile under load with that of bovine cartilage. A comparison between the material parameters estimated for the scaffolds and for the bovine cartilage based on the biphasic theory enabled the definition of an optimum window for the porosity and pore size of these constructs. Moreover, the finite element prediction for the stress distribution inside the scaffolds, surrounded by the host cartilaginous tissue, demonstrated a negligible perturbation of the stress field at the site of implantation. The finite element modeling tools in combination with the developed methodology for optimal porosity/pore size determination can be used to improve the design of biomimetic scaffolds. POLYM. ENG. This study is aimed at exploring the ability of very small sized N-bearing molecules to generate and stabilize microporous aluminophosphates. Two new AlPO4-n materials, called IST-1 and IST-2, have been obtained in aqueous media using, as main template, methylamine (MA), directly added, or generated in situ from methylformamide (MF) degradation. While IST-1 topology proved to be novel, IST-2 appears structurally related to AlPO4-53(A). The obtained materials were characterized by powder XRD, TG/DSC, SEM and solid-state NMR. Tetraalkylammonium (TEA) cations were used as potential co-templates but only MA and water were found incorporated in the pore volumes of both structures, which argues for their true templating role. In IST-1, 13C solid-state NMR studies showed that half of MA species, presumably protonated, is H-bonded to framework oxygens while the other half surprisingly bonds directly to framework Al atoms. 13C NMR showed that only protonated MA occurs in IST-2 channels. TEA+ cations definitely do not play any specific template role. They indirectly favor the crystallization of IST-1 or IST-2 devoid from other crystalline or amorphous side phases, by interacting with part of the Al and P in solution and forming soluble [AlPO4(OH)]–[TEA,HMA] complexes, substantially modifying the compositions of gels precursors to each phase during nucleation and/or growth steps. While both IST-1 and IST-2 crystallize from gels of similar initial compositions, it was demonstrated that the new MA/T ratio (T = Al or P) obtained after in situ complexation was the key parameter that specifically governs the crystallization of each phase. 相似文献

The electrochemical reduction of PbCl2 has been studied in a fused NaCl–KCl mixture with tungsten, molybdenum and nickel electrodes. Experiments were conducted in the 700–850°C temperature range using voltammetric and chronopotentiometric techniques. Poor lead adhesion to the electrode surface made the study with the nickel electrode impossible and the results obtained with the tungsten electrode somewhat doubtful. Lead adhesion to the molybdenum surface was good but the experimental curves had to be corrected for a cathodic residual current. The lead chloride reduction appears to occur reversibly according to the reaction.

Linseed contains high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), such as α-linolenic acid (> 50% ALA-18:3), that are naturally protected against thermal oxidation by their encapsulation within linseed oil bodies (OB) by multiple components including antioxidant proteins and mucilage emulsifying agents. Linseed OB emulsions (LSE) can be produced by grinding linseed seeds, adding water, adjusting pH, and sonication. This is a process that can encapsulate externally added PUFA to minimize their thermal oxidation, as it does for the intrinsic ALA PUFA. Fish oil (FO) encapsulation into this LSE platform to form linseed fish oil emulsions (LSFE) offers the possibility of a nutritive delivery system of the biologically essential FO PUFA eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. In this study, 1H low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) is used to characterize LSE's and LSFE's chemical and structural properties as well as their stability and changes under thermal oxidation (55 °C for 96 hours). 1H LF-NMR data processing was developed to generate one-dimensional (1D) T1 (spin–lattice), 1D T2 (spin–spin), and 2D (T1 vs. T2) relaxation time spectra that can characterize OB emulsions and monitor their time domain fingerprints (spectrum peaks) of chemical and structural changes during the oxidation process. The 1H LF-NMR analysis were further supported and correlated with conventional peroxide value test, self-diffusion, droplet size distribution, zeta potential estimation of surface stability, and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of fatty acid profile changes under thermal oxidation conditions. The 1D and 2D LF-NMR relaxation spectra showed that the LSE and LSFE did not suffer intense oxidation process, due to PUFA assembly in OB oxidative protection. These results were further confirmed by the supportive analytical methodologies. The results of this study demonstrate the efficacy of 1H LF-NMR methodology to monitor PUFA's rich oil and emulsion thermal oxidation. 相似文献
