In this article Korean development of IMT-2000 is considered. It includes the second-generation digital mobile communications, R&D and standardization activities related to IMT-2000, and the authors' perspectives on IMT-2000 in Korea. In Korea, there are many activities for development of IMT-2000 radio transmission technologies, and the results of these activities will be the submission of technologies to the ITU. However, the Korean telecommunications standardization body (TTA) will make every effort to make a common global standard for IMT-2000. Therefore, the TTA will make a domestic standard for IMT-2000 after the ITU finalizes the related Recommendations. It seems to the authors that difficulties in harmonization in the TTA are very similar to difficulties in harmonization worldwide. The only way of reaching the harmonization of IMT-2000 in Korea is that the key players should have the view from the end users' seat  相似文献

This paper describes a model that can account for ad hoc user-responses to argument interrogative type of system-initiated questions. Successful implementation of the model can provide an alternative solution that is more effective than the menu-driven approach that has been proposed as a meager solution to enable the system to ask a question to the user. The proposed model assumes that when the system asks a question, it maintains an expectation of the potential answers. The system then uses the expectation as the focus to perform the most likely interpretation of the user's response. Without using such a focus the interpretation process could be unbounded. The interpretation process is mapped into a heuristic search problem. The interpretation process results in identifying a particular expectation-response relationship type, which the system can use to tailor its response strategy with respect to the given user-response. This paper analyzes the performance of a switching architecture. The performance measures include the elapsed time of packet transfer and the waiting time to begin transfer. The architecture is partitioned depending on the type of network used and the expected traffic in the network. Every partition has a switch with a buffer that can absorb surges of bursty traffic within the network partition. The buffer size depends on the type of the network and incoming traffic. The partition size depends on the network bandwidth, network traffic, packet size and buffer size. Examples of different networks are used to show the applications of the model. The results show that the elapsed time of packet switch transfer depends exponentially on the number of partitions in the network.  相似文献

The transmembrane segments of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase were determined by trypsinization of cytoplasmic side-out intact sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles. The membrane portion of tryptic digest comprising the transmembrane fragments, joined by the intravesicular segments, was separated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis after labeling with fluorescein 5-maleimide in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. In this way, seven fluorescent bands of tryptic fragments below 11 kDa were observed which were derived from 4 pairs of membrane spanning segments and one hydrophobic sequence at the C-terminal end. Two peptides of 10.8 and 10.6 kDa had the identical N-terminal sequence beginning at Glu826, representing the transmembrane segments M7 and M8 and their connecting loop. A band at 8.1 kDa contained one peptide beginning at Tyr36 (M1/loop/M2). A 7.7-kDa peptide starting at Leu253 (M3/loop/M4) and a 7.3-kDa peptide beginning at Ala752 (M5/loop/M6) were also observed. A band at 6.7 kDa contained two peptides, one beginning at Ser48 (M1/loop/M2) and another beginning at Tyr763 (M5/loop/M6). In addition, a 4-kDa peptide beginning at Met925 was observed. The size of this peptide did not allow for a complete pair of transmembrane segments, but this peptide could have been derived from trypsinolysis between the last pair of membrane spanning segments. These data therefore provide biochemical evidence for at least 8 transmembrane segments and perhaps two more at the C-terminal end of the enzyme.  相似文献

A novel traveling-wave electrode utilizing capacitively loaded T-rail elements was developed for low-voltage high-speed substrate-removed GaAs/AlGaAs electrooptic modulators. Electrodes with varying dimensions were fabricated and characterized. Electrode phase velocity, characteristic impedance, loss coefficient, and capacitive loading were extracted from the measured s-parameters up to 40 GHz. Electrode was also simulated using a finite-element solver. The measured and calculated electrode capacitance values were found to be in excellent agreement, showing that the electrode can be precisely designed. Approaches were outlined to provide a group velocity-matched very high-speed modulator electrode suitable for a low drive-voltage substrate-removed GaAs/AlGaAs electro-optic modulator  相似文献

The transmission mode of holographic polymer‐dispersed liquid crystals (HPDLCs) was developed an under electric field. Existing location-based routing protocols are not versatile enough for a large-scale ad hoc environment to simultaneously meet all of the requirements of scalability, bandwidth efficiency, energy efficiency, and quality-of-service routing. To remedy this deficiency, we propose an optimal tradeoff approach that: 1) constructs a hybrid routing protocol by combining well-known location-update schemes (i.e., proactive location updates within nodes' local regions and a distributed location service), and 2) derives its optimal configuration, in terms of location-update thresholds (both distance and time-based), to minimize the overall routing overhead. We also build a route-discovery scheme based on an Internet-like architecture, i.e., first querying the location of a destination, then applying a series of local-region routing until finding a complete route by aggregating the thus-found partial routes. To find the optimal thresholds for the hybrid protocol, we derive the costs associated with both location updates and route discovery as a function of location-update thresholds, assuming a random mobility model and a general distribution for route request arrivals. The problem of minimizing the total cost is then cast into a distributed optimization problem. We first prove that the total cost is a convex function of the thresholds, and then derive the optimal thresholds. Finally, we show, via simulation, that our analysis results indeed capture the real behavior.  相似文献

Evaporated thin tantalum films on single and polycrystalline nickel have been laser surface alloyed using either continuous-wave CO2 or Q-switched Nd-YAG radiation. In the case of the continuous-wave laser, surface alloys contain amorphous tantalum-rich regions, intermediate polycrystalline bands of TaNi, and an underlying Ni(Ta) solid solution. In the Q-switched laser case, a much more laterally uniform amorphous phase with approximately equal atomic fractions of nickel and tantalum is found, with little evidence of polycrystalline intermetallics.In situ annealing with the electron beam of the microscope results in formation of microcrystallites, predominantly nickel.  相似文献

Hydrogen gas pick-up mechanism of Al-alloy melt during Lost Foam Casting   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The hydrogen gas pick-up problem that can occur during Lost Foam Casting was investigated with reduced pressure tests and real castings.The initial hydrogen concentration of the melt and the contact time between melt and polystyrene had a main effect on the hydrogen gas pick-up of Al melt. The hydrogen gas pick-up of Al alloy depended also on pouring temperature and a proper metal front temperature gave the minimum hydrogen pick-up. At a low pouring temperature, the hydrogen went into the melt mainly from entrapped liquid product of polystyrene but at high pouring temperature it was by the gas as well as the liquid product. The mold flask evacuation down to 710 torr decreased the gas porosity down by around 0.4 vol%. The permeability of coating thickness had a great effect because it affects the filling time and the easy removal of liquid polystyrene.  相似文献
