We report on the synthesis Zn1?x Fe x O nanotubes with average tube diameter of 60?nm to 100?nm and wall thickness of about 20?nm. The nanotubes were synthesized by a low-temperature electrochemical process, and their morphology was found to be sensitive to the electrolyte concentration and growth time. The maximum Fe doping achieved by this process was estimated to be approximately 4?wt.%. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction showed good crystalline quality of the doped and undoped nanotubes with preferential growth along the wurtzite c-axis. The Fe-doped nanotubes exhibit wurtzite crystal structure with an increase in the c-axis lattice constant when compared with the undoped nanotubes, indicative of the fact that Fe ions substitute for Zn as 2+ ions in the ZnO crystal lattice. Further evidence of Fe as a substitutional dopant is provided by Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy. A comparison of the effective magnetic moment in the undoped and doped nanotubes reveals the presence of four unpaired electrons in the Fe-doped sample and zero unpaired electrons for the undoped sample.  相似文献

Tool reliability plays an important role in the performance and justification of flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs). Failure of a single tool can cause downtimes over the entire system. This would cause due dates to be missed and can result in inferior products. Therefore, in order to justify the large capital investment associated with FMSs, the system must perform in a reliable manner to give an acceptable or required rate of return on the investment. In order to arrive at this objective, FMS reliability must be studied at the planning and design stages, tool failures pose a major obstacle to achieving this objective. In this paper, a mathematical model has been developed to determine the spare tooling requirement for the tooling system in an FMS, so that a desired system reliability is achieved and the cost is minimised. The influence of tool sharing on cost, reliability, spares requirement, and tool magazine capacity of the FMS are analysed. The tools and tool transporter are subject to general failure distributions.  相似文献

A key aspect of pervasive computing is using computers and sensor networks to effectively and unobtrusively infer users' behavior in their environment. This includes inferring which activity users are performing, how they're performing it, and its current stage. Recognizing and recording activities of daily living is a significant problem in elder care. A new paradigm for ADL inferencing leverages radio-frequency-identification technology, data mining, and a probabilistic inference engine to recognize ADLs, based on the objects people use. We propose an approach that addresses these challenges and shows promise in automating some types of ADL monitoring. Our key observation is that the sequence of objects a person uses while performing an ADL robustly characterizes both the ADL's identity and the quality of its execution. In the past, many researchers have used stochastic streamflow models along with sequent peak algorithm or sim ulation to obtain storage-reliability-yield (S-R-Y) relationships for a reservoir. These S-R-Y relationships con sider only the probability of failure, but not the likely consequences of the failure (vulnerability). In this paper, separate contours of reservoir performance, n amely reliability and vulnerability (eventbased), have been developed on the storage-yield plane, using stochastic reservoir sim ulation. These contours of performance, when superposed, give rise to the storageperformance-yield (S-P-Y) relationships, the construction of which is illustrated in this paper through a case example. These relationships provide more com prehensive information to the reservoir planner regarding perform ance than the S-R-Y relationships.  相似文献

There is intense and growing interest in one-dimensional (1-D) nanostructures from the perspective of their synthesis and unique properties, especially with respect to their excellent optical response and an ability to form heterostructures. This review discusses alternative approaches to preparation and organization of such structures, and their potential properties. In particular, molecular-scale printing is highlighted as a method for creating organized pre-cursor structure for locating nanowires, as well as vapor–liquid–solid (VLS) templated growth using nano-channel alumina (NCA), and deposition of 1-D structures with glancing angle deposition (GLAD). As regards novel optical properties, we discuss as an example, finite size photonic crystal cavity structures formed from such nanostructure arrays possessing high Q and small mode volume, and being ideal for developing future nanolasers.  相似文献
