To treat uncertain interface position is an important issue for complex applications. In this paper, we address the characterization of randomly perturbed interfaces between fluids thanks to stochastic modeling and uncertainty quantification through the 2D Euler system. The perturbed interface is modeled as a random field and represented by a Karhunen–Loève expansion. The stochastic 2D Euler system is solved applying Polynomial Chaos theory through the Intrusive Polynomial Moment Method (IPMM). This stochastic resolution method is fully explained and studied (theoretically and numerically). Stochastic Richtmyer–Meshkov unstable flows are solved and presented for several configurations of the uncertain interface (different rugosities) between the fluids. The probability density functions of the mass density of the fluid in the vicinity of the interface are computed built and compared for the different simulations: the system exhibits strong sensitivity with respect to the stochastic initially leading modes.  相似文献

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)/Fe(IO3)3 nanocomposite thin films are obtained by in situ particle generation in microemulsions and subsequent photopolymerization of a mixture containing methyl methacrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate, and crystallized iron iodate (Fe(IO3)3) nanorods. Hyper‐Rayleigh scattering measurements combined with X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering are first used to probe in situ the crystallization kinetics of iron iodate nanorods in water‐in‐oil microemulsions prepared with methyl methacrylate as the oil phase and marlophen NP12 as a surfactant. Trimethylolpropane triacrylate is then added as a crosslinker before spin‐coating. Films are deposited on glass substrates for the nonlinear optical characterizations and on silicon wafers for the piezoelectric and mechanical measurements. Nanocomposite films treated by corona discharge are finally characterized through optical microscopy, laser Doppler vibrometry, and Brillouin spectroscopy. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. In this paper we will present CyberNet, an interactive 3D dynamic information visualization tool designed to evaluate the added value this technology brings to network management. This paper explains how 3D metaphoric worlds may help the user and points out the problems raised by the dynamic nature of the information. It focuses on the solutions that were adopted to cope with these problems. We first present some prototypes of network administration tools implemented using the CyberNet framework. Secondly we explain how information is collected and structured, and then we show how this structured information may be mapped onto 3D graphical components in order to automatically build and update metaphoric 3D worlds. The last part of the paper presents the user interaction mechanisms provided by the system.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of dietary factors on the pH and the ammonia emission from slurry of growing-finishing pigs. Sixteen male hybrid pigs (80 to 90 kg BW) were allotted to one of four diets based on barley-wheat, tapioca, barley-tapioca, and sugar beet pulp. Diets were formulated to have similar NE and CP contents and a similar lysine:NE ratio. Diets differed in nonstarch polysaccharide content (NSP) and dietary electrolyte balance (dEB). Urine and feces were daily collected quantitatively in metabolism cages and mixed as a slurry at the end of the collection period. After mixing, the pH and the ammonia emission from the slurry were measured daily in a laboratory setup for 7 d at 20 degrees C. The type of diet affected the pH of the slurry and the ammonia emission (P < .001). The pH of the slurry from pigs fed the sugar beet pulp-based diet was .8 unit lower and ammonia emission was 52 to 53% lower than that of the other three diets. The low dEB and high NPS sugar beet pulp-based diet increased the VFA concentration and reduced the pH and ammonia emission from the slurry. We conclude that dietary NSP and dEB influence the pH and ammonia emission from slurry of growing-finishing pigs.  相似文献

The ARIANE launcher post mission analysis is done at ARIANESPACE. This activity is called the ‘level 0 post flight analysis’ (PFA) and is carried out after each launch by about 60 engineers who are working together under the leadership of ARIANESPACE.

The PFA is one of the most critical of ARIANE operations, for several reasons:

• - The launch rate (8 a year for ARIANE 4) leaves a very short time to carry out all the verification work. Moreover, the PFA is a mandatory step before authorizing the next launch.
• - The complexity of the ARIANE launcher results in a very high demand on the PFA engineers. Moreover, there are problems of availability of people with relevant expert knowledge (characterized by a substantial staff turn-over during the 10 year life duration of ARIANE 4) which could potentially result in errors or omissions.

It is very important to be able to take into account the experience of the preceding flights and to record the results and the knowledge accumulated for each launch.

• - The quality and the reliability of the PFA mainly depends on the accessibility of data and on the used methodology.

Because the PFA is still largely done manually, and does not benefit from improved methodologies and advanced technologies providing computerized support for data processing and diagnosis, ARIANESPACE has sponsored MATRA ESPACE for the development of a knowledge based system, called ARIANEXPERT, for supporting the PFA activity. This system combines AI techniques and numerical analysis techniques, together with advanced graphical capabilities.

A prototype has been delivered in April 1990 and has been used since 6 months by ARIANESPACE during real PFAs. Several lessons have been drawn from this operational experience and are described in this paper. They concern:

• - The utility and justification of the use of AI techniques mostly coming from the explanation capabilities and the stress put on capturing the expert knowledge.
• - The difficulties associated with the integration of such systems in the exploitation of ARIANE due to the introduction of very new tasks.
• - The user point of view which evolved from reluctant to convinced.

This work aims to detail the mass change of a porous silicon sample during copper immersion plating. Gravimetric measurements and quantification of the deposited copper by induced coupled plasma spectroscopy (ICP) permit to separate the contributions to the mass change. The results indicate that immersion plating proceeds independently of the porous layer thickness at short immersion time. However, after long immersion duration, the deposition stops and thick porous layers are not fully oxidised. The oxidation of the porous layer is homogeneous and proceeds in depth with time, down to several micrometers.  相似文献

In a previous paper in this Journal, a “hybrid method” was proposed for the joint propagation of probability distributions (expressing variability) and possibility distributions (i.e., fuzzy numbers, expressing imprecision or partial ignorance) in the computation of risk. In order to compare the results of the hybrid computation (a random fuzzy set) to a tolerance threshold (a tolerable level of risk), a postprocessing method was proposed. Recent work has highlighted a shortcoming of this postprocessing step which yields overly conservative results. A postprocessing method based on Shafer’s theory of evidence provides a rigorous answer to the problem of comparing a random fuzzy set with a threshold. The principles behind the new postprocessing scheme are presented and illustrated with a synthetic example.  相似文献

This work describes a collaborative effort to define and apply a protocol for the rational selection of a general‐purpose screening library, to be used by the screening platforms affiliated with the EU‐OPENSCREEN initiative. It is designed as a standard source of compounds for primary screening against novel biological targets, at the request of research partners. Given the general nature of the potential applications of this compound collection, the focus of the selection strategy lies on ensuring chemical stability, absence of reactive compounds, screening‐compliant physicochemical properties, loose compliance to drug‐likeness criteria (as drug design is a major, but not exclusive application), and maximal diversity/coverage of chemical space, aimed at providing hits for a wide spectrum of drugable targets. Finally, practical availability/cost issues cannot be avoided. The main goal of this publication is to inform potential future users of this library about its conception, sources, and characteristics. The outline of the selection procedure, notably of the filtering rules designed by a large committee of European medicinal chemists and chemoinformaticians, may be of general methodological interest for the screening/medicinal chemistry community. The selection task of 200K molecules out of a pre‐filtered set of 1.4M candidates was shared by five independent European research groups, each picking a subset of 40K compounds according to their own in‐house methodology and expertise. An in‐depth analysis of chemical space coverage of the library serves not only to characterize the collection, but also to compare the various chemoinformatics‐driven selection procedures of maximal diversity sets. Compound selections contributed by various participating groups were mapped onto general‐purpose self‐organizing maps (SOMs) built on the basis of marketed drugs and bioactive reference molecules. In this way, the occupancy of chemical space by the EU‐OPENSCREEN library could be directly compared with distributions of known bioactives of various classes. This mapping highlights the relevance of the selection and shows how the consensus reached by merging the five different 40K selections contributes to achieve this relevance. The approach also allows one to readily identify subsets of target‐ or target‐class‐oriented compounds from the EU‐OPENSCREEN library to suit the needs of the diverse range of potential users. The final EU‐OPENSCREEN library, assembled by merging five independent selections of 40K compounds from various expert groups, represents an excellent example of a Europe‐wide collaborative effort toward the common objective of building best‐in‐class European open screening platforms.  相似文献

The synthesis of few-layered graphene is performed by ion implantation of carbon species in thin nickel films, followed by high temperature annealing and quenching. Although ion implantation enables a precise control of the carbon content and of the uniformity of the in-plane carbon concentration in the Ni films before annealing, we observe thickness non-uniformities in the synthesized graphene layers after high temperature annealing. These non-uniformities are probably induced by the heterogeneous distribution/topography of the graphene nucleation sites on the Ni surface. Taken altogether, our results indicate that the number of graphene layers on top of Ni films is controlled by the nucleation process on the Ni surface rather than by the carbon content in the Ni film.  相似文献

A general-purpose modular-based scan chain between the analog-digital boundary of a mixed analog/digital design is proposed. This general-purpose Design-For-Test methodology is oriented towards the test of the mixed-signal modules within the design. Implementing this structure improves the controllability and observability of these modules and the reusability of the test software at a minimum cost.  相似文献
