On the Choice of Stress Invariants in Solving Problems of Mechanics

It is proposed to formulate strength criteria as a relationship between the stress intensity and dimensionless invariant , which is equal to the ratio of the first stress-tensor invariant to the stress intensity. The use of the invariant in the case of plane stress is proved to be correct. A comparison of calculated and experimental data demonstrates advantages of the proposed formulation of the ultimate state conditions over the classical approach. Possible ways of how to extend the presented approach to a triaxial stress state are indicated.     

Finite-element-method calculation of flow and heat transfer in elements of plate exchangers

The finite-element method is used to solve a problem concerning the heat transfer through a wall separating two rectangular channels. Reliability Analysis of Systems Described by Fault Trees with Efficiency

A fault tree model is proposed that describes a structure and functioning of systems with different levels of operation quality. Approximate analytical and statistical methods for evaluation of reliability characteristics of such system are developed. An appropriate software is worked out.     

Theoretical and empirical estimates of tolerance to decision maker's errors and of the rate of convergence of methods that find the most preferred element

The rate of convergence and the tolerance to decision-maker's errors are estimated for random-search decision methods. Decision-maker's random errors do not have a significant effect if their probability is sufficiently small. Modeling the heat transfer in flow in complex channels by the finite-element method

The flow and heat transfer in closed and open channels are considered. The thermal part is solved in a conjugate formulation. On uncertainty problems in decision-making

The paper continues studying the uncertainty problem based on [2]. A decision-maker is assumed to have a prevalence relation on the consequences of his actions.
