Text categorization is the task of automatically assigning unlabeled text documents to some predefined category labels by means of an induction algorithm. Since the data in text categorization are high-dimensional, often feature selection is used for reducing the dimensionality. In this paper, we make an evaluation and comparison of the feature selection policies used in text categorization by employing some of the popular feature selection metrics. For the experiments, we use datasets which vary in size, complexity, and skewness. We use support vector machine as the classifier and tf-idf weighting for weighting the terms. In addition to the evaluation of the policies, we propose new feature selection metrics which show high success rates especially with low number of keywords. These metrics are two-sided local metrics and are based on the difference of the distributions of a term in the documents belonging to a class and in the documents not belonging to that class. Moreover, we propose a keyword selection framework called adaptive keyword selection. It is based on selecting different number of terms for each class and it shows significant improvement on skewed datasets that have a limited number of training instances for some of the classes.  相似文献

Human stem-cell factor (hSCF) stimulates the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic cells by binding to the c-Kit receptor. Various applications of hSCF require the efficient and reliable production of hSCF. hSCF exists in three forms: as two membrane-spanning proteins hSCF248 and hSCF229 and truncated soluble N-terminal protein hSCF164. hSCF164 is known to be insoluble when expressed in Escherichia coli cytoplasm, requiring a complex refolding procedure. The activity of hSCF248 has never been studied. Here, we investigated novel production methods for recombinant hSCF164 and hSCF248 without the refolding process. To increase the solubility of hSCF164, maltose-binding protein (MBP) and protein disulfide isomerase b’a’ domain (PDIb’a’) tags were attached to the N-terminus of hSCF164. These fusion proteins were overexpressed in soluble form in the Origami 2(DE3) E. coli strain. These solubilization effects were enhanced at a low temperature. His-hSCF248, the poly-His tagged form of hSCF248, was expressed in a highly soluble form without a solubilization tag protein, which was unexpected because His-hSCF248 contains a transmembrane domain. hSCF164 was purified using affinity and ion-exchange chromatography, and His-hSCF248 was purified by ion-exchange and gel filtration chromatography. The purified proteins stimulated the proliferation of TF-1 cells. Interestingly, the EC50 value of His-hSCF248 was 1 pg/mL, 100-fold lower than 9 ng/mL hSCF164. Additionally, His-hSCF248 decreased the doubling time, increased the proportion of S and G2/M stages in the cell cycle, and increased the c-Myc expression at a 1000-fold lower concentration than hSCF164. In conclusion, His-hSCF248 was expressed in a soluble form in E. coli and had stronger activity than hSCF164. The molecular chaperone, MBP, enabled the soluble overexpression of hSCF164.  相似文献

As part of a world-wide survey of middle distillate fuel instability, three fuels were chosen for detailed GC/MS analysis. These fuels are identified by number and country of origin; FL-2577 was from Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada; FL-2599 was from Abamadj, Kuwait; and FL 2592 was from Chiba, Japan. The organo-nitrogen compounds in the three fuels were separated by mild acid extraction followed by silica gel absorption. This treatment yielded three fractions for each fuel; a basic nitrogen compounds fraction, BNC; a non-basic nitrogen compounds fraction in methylene chloride, mcl, NBNC-mcl; and a non-basic nitrogen compounds fraction in methanol, meoh, NBNC-meoh. The three fractions from each fuel were analyzed by combined capillary gc/ms. The organo-nitrogen compounds from each fraction were identified and quantitated.  相似文献

Previous research has indicated that decision making is accompanied by an increase in the coherence of assessments of the factors related to the decision alternatives. In the present study, the authors investigated whether this coherence shift is obtained before people commit to a decision, and whether it is obtained in the course of a number of other processing tasks. College students were presented with a complex legal case involving multiple conflicting arguments. Participants rated agreement with the individual arguments in isolation before seeing the case and after processing it under various initial sets, including playing the role of a judge assigned to decide the case. Coherence shifts were observed when participants were instructed to delay making the decision (Experiment 1), to memorize the case (Experiment 2), and to comprehend the case (Experiment 3). The findings support the hypothesis that a coherence-generating mechanism operates in a variety of processing tasks, including decision making. Using poly-methyl methacrylate as a pore-forming agent, porous β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)/t-ZrO2 composites were fabricated depending on the volume percentages (vol.%) of t-ZrO2 powder. In the porous sintered bodies, hybrid pores, about 20 and 200 μm in diameter, were homogenously dispersed in the β-TCP/t-ZrO2 matrix and showed good interconnection. On the other hand, β-TCP-(t-ZrO2)/polycaprolactone (PCL) composites were fabricated by the melt infiltration process using porous β-TCP/t-ZrO2 bodies. The relative density of the β-TCP-(t-ZrO2)/PCL composites increased as the vol.% of t-ZrO2 increased and its maximum value was about 98.6%. However, the hardness, bending strength and elastic modulus of β-TCP-(t-ZrO2)/PCL composites decreased due to the low densification of porous β-TCP/t-ZrO2 bodies as the volume percentages of t-ZrO2 content increased. The values (using 20 vol.% of t-ZrO2) were 11.4 Hv, 25.5 MPa and 17.2 GPa, respectively.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Polypyrrole (PPy) was prepared on the mild steel substrate by electrochemical polymerisation in the solution containing pyrrole monomer and succinic acid. The mild steel surface could be passivated before and during electropolymerisation by molybdate. The morphology and structure of the PPy film were studied with SEM. The typical cauliflower structure of PPy was observed. Raman and IR spectroscopy showed that the obtained PPy was in an oxidised state. The thermal stability of PPy was investigated by the thermal gravimetric analysis, showing that PPy was stable at higher than 480°C. The electrochemical property of the PPy film was performed by open circuit potential, polarisation curves (I/E), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The corrosion behaviour of mild steel (CT3) with PPy film in solution NaCl 3% was studied.

Glucose and glutamine are essential energy metabolites for brain tumor growth and survival under both normoxic and hypoxic conditions. Both metabolites can contribute their carbons to lipid biosynthesis. We used uniformly labeled [14C]‐U‐d ‐glucose and [14C]‐U‐l ‐glutamine to examine the profile of de novo lipid biosynthesis in the VM‐M3 murine glioblastoma cells. The major lipids synthesized included phosphatidylcholine (PtdCho), phosphatidylethanolamine (EtnGpl), phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns), phosphatidylserine (PtdSer), sphingomyelin (CerP Cho), bis(monoacylglycero)phosphate (BMP)/phosphatidic acid (PtdOH), cholesterol (C), cardiolipin (Ptd2Gro), and gangliosides. Endogenous lipid synthesis, using either glucose or glutamine, was greater in media without fetal bovine serum (FBS) than in media containing 10 % FBS under normoxia. De novo lipid synthesis was greater using glucose carbons than glutamine carbons under normoxia. The reverse was observed for most lipids under hypoxia suggesting an attenuation of glucose entering the TCA cycle. Lactate was produced largely from glucose carbons with minimal lactate derived from glutamine under either normoxia or hypoxia. Accumulation of triacylglycerols (TAG), containing mostly saturated and mono‐unsaturated fatty acids, was observed under hypoxia using carbons from either glucose or glutamine. The data show that the incorporation of labeled glucose and glutamine into most synthesized lipids was dependent on the type of growth environment, and that the VM‐M3 glioblastoma cells could acquire lipids, especially cholesterol, from the external environment for growth and proliferation.  相似文献
