An experimental arrangement has been developed for measuring the transient temperature responses and the thermal diffusivities of foil materials in the range of 10 to 300K by using the optical reflectivity technique. The cryogenic system with optical windows is designed to provide temperatures from 10 to 300 K. The front surface of a foil specimen is heated by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In situ measurement of the reflectivity of a continuous-wave He–Ne laser at the rear surface is conducted on the microsecond time scale. Using the temperature dependence of reflectivity, the transient temperature response is deduced. The thermal diffusivity is obtained by fitting Parker's formulae to the experimental data on temperature rise. Stainless-steel foils are chosen as samples and are studied in the region from 10 to 300 K. The accuracy is examined by comparing the present results with the theoretical temperature responses and thermal diffusivity data from the literature. Good agreement is observed.  相似文献

We have developed an innovative semianalytical technique for various substrate material characterization. The developed technique is a measurement procedure and data-reduction formulation that takes into consideration the radiation loss in a resonant structure, allowing for a more effective means of dielectric- and conductor-loss determination for a microstrip ring resonator and its substrate material. We separate dielectric and conductor loss precisely, evaluate the contribution of each term in the overall loss performance, and analytically predict the error in their respective predicted value.  相似文献

This paper describes a sequential tripping strategy used in a wide area back-up protection expert system (BPES) to combat situations in which protection relays have maloperated or information is missing. The BPES is an innovative back-up protection scheme designed to prevent the occurrence of widespread blackouts. The BPES evaluates the certainty that transmission lines are likely to be affected by the fault and uses a sequential tripping strategy to isolate the fault if a firm decision is not available due to maloperated relays and/or missing information. The mode of analysis and the sequential tripping strategy ensures that the BPES will clear a fault at minimum risk to the network. An example is included to demonstrate how the certainty factor based sequential tripping strategy is employed by the BPES to clear a fault which occurred on the South Western part of the UK National Grid System  相似文献

Beef and pork frankfurters were produced with 0, 5, 10, and 15% of the meat block being mechanically separated spleen (MSS). No fatting or peelability problems were experienced. Frankfurters were held at 2°C and evaluated at 2-wk intervals for 6 wk. Consumer panelists rated all products acceptable. A bi-monthly laboratory taste panel evaluated all frank furters (except the 15% product) acceptable during storage. Allo-Kramer shear values decreased with increased MSS, Frankfurters with 5, 10, and 15% MSS had 2.2, 3.9, and 4.9 times more iron than the control, respectively. Level of MSS did not influence bacterial numbers.  相似文献

A new technique for mixing optical waves to generate microwave-frequency signals using an injection laser diode and a fibre-optic interferometer is reported. A beat signal is produced by interfering light from the laser with light from the same laser emitted earlier at a different frequency. The interferometer consists of an evanescent-field fibre coupler joined to a length of single-mode optical fibre. The laser is tuned by pulsed or bipolar current waveforms superimposed on a DC bias current. Feedback from an external cavity stabilises the laser frequency and reduces its linewidth. Efficient mixing at difference frequencies from 250 MHz to 2 GHz is obtained, with spectral widths of less than 1% of the centre frequency.  相似文献

The "Wisconsin process'(a combination of lactic acid starter culture and sucrose) has previously been shown to be effective in preventing botulinum toxigenesis in reduced nitrite bacon. This technology has been applied to other low-acid refrigerated foods which receive less than a 12D thermal process. A combination of Pediococcus acidilactici and dextrose was effective in preventing botulinum toxigenesis in chicken salad. When the chicken salad was temperature abused, the P. acidilactici catabolized available dextrose to lactic acid. Extracellular accumulation of the lactic acid caused a decrease in the pH of the product. Pathogen challenge tests verified that the rate and extent of lactic acid accumulation in the chicken salad during temperature abuse was sufficient to preclude botulinum toxigenesis. This technology has the potential to be of use in a variety of low-acid refrigerated foods.  相似文献

The dynamic linewidth of 1.5 ?m ridge waveguide DFB lasers is shown to be reduced by shaping the pulse of the laser modulating waveform. Pulse shaping is performed by a second-order network designed to cancel the small-signal laser resonance. Results demonstrate a dynamic linewidth reduction from 1.4 ? to 0.55 ?
