A feasibility study is carried out on a 1.6 μm continuous-wave modulation laser absorption spectrometer system for measurement of global CO(2)concentration from a satellite. The studies are performed for wavelength selection and both systematic and random error analyses. The systematic error in the differential absorption optical depth (DAOD) is mainly caused by the temperature estimation error, surface pressure estimation error, altitude estimation error, and ON wavelength instability. The systematic errors caused by unwanted backscattering from background aerosols and dust aerosols can be reduced to less than 0.26% by using a modulation frequency of around 200 kHz, when backscatter coefficients of these unwanted backscattering have a simple profile on altitude. The influence of backscattering from cirrus clouds is much larger than that of dust aerosols. The transmission power required to reduce the random error in the DAOD to 0.26% is determined by the signal-to-noise ratio and the carrier-to-noise ratio calculations. For a satellite altitude of 400 km and receiving aperture diameter of 1 m, the required transmission power is approximately 18 W and 70 W when albedo is 0.31 and 0.08, respectively; the total measurement time in this case is 4 s, which corresponds to a horizontal resolution of 28 km. 相似文献

Interactions between photons irradiated from Ar-O2 mixture plasmas and polymer surfaces were investigated on the basis of depth analyses of chemical bonding states in the nano-surface layer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films via hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HXPES) and conventional X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The PET films were exposed to photons from the Ar-O2 mixture plasmas by covering the PET samples with MgF2 and quartz windows as optical filters for evaluation of photoirradiation effects in ultraviolet (UV) and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) regions. The HXPES results indicated that the degradation of the chemical bonding states due to photoirradiation in regions was insignificant in deeper regions up to about 50 nm from the surface. Whereas, conventional XPS analysis showed that CO bond, OCO bond and CO bond increased after photoirradiation in UV and VUV regions. These results suggest that the increase in oxygen functionalities (CO bond, OCO bond and CO bond) may be attributed to chemical reactions and/or terminations of scissed bonds via photodecompositions of the polymer with oxygen and/or OH species (oxygen molecules and radicals during plasma exposure and/or oxygen molecules and moisture after taking the PET samples out of the plasma reactor to the ambient air) in the vicinity of the sample surface. 相似文献

In this study, microbial precipitation of carbonate was observed using high microbial urease activity, and it was found that the ratio of Mg/Ca affected the types of crystals produced. Without Mg2+, calcite was produced using only CaCl2, while the presence of Mg produced Mg-calcite, magnesite and/or possibly dolomite of round, spherical or fibrous shapes, depending on reaction time, pH and Mg/Ca ratio. The carbonate produced contributed to the development of cementation for sands. The presence of Mg showed a relatively strong cementation of the carbonate. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Cardiac allograft rejection is accompanied by cellular infiltration and tissue edema resulting in myocardial relaxation abnormalities. Doppler tissue imaging is capable of measuring myocardial relaxation velocities and is useful in the detection of heart rejection. However, the influence of ventricular loading conditions on myocardial relaxation velocities has not been studied. This study is performed to determine whether myocardial relaxation velocities are affected by left ventricular loading conditions. METHODS: Twenty heart transplant recipients without evidence of rejection by endomyocardial biopsy underwent preload and afterload reduction with nitroglycerin. The pulmonary wedge pressure was reduced from 18.2+/-0.9 to 12.0+/-0.9 mm Hg 9 (p=0.001) and the mean blood pressure from 130.0+/-5.6 to 116.1+/-7.0 mm Hg (p=0.001). Pulsed-wave Doppler tissue imaging was performed before and after administration of nitroglycerin, and the peak myocardial relaxation velocities of the inferior wall were measured. RESULTS: Myocardial relaxation velocities did not change with the administration of nitroglycerin; 0.188+/-0.009 to 0.178+/- 0.006 m/sec (p=0.4) in spite of a significant reduction in pulmonary capillary wedge pressure. Furthermore, there was no correlation between pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, mean arterial pressure, wall stress, and myocardial relaxation velocities. CONCLUSIONS: Loading conditions on the left ventricle have no influence on myocardial relaxation velocities. Therefore in heart transplant recipients changes in myocardial relaxation velocities by Doppler tissue imaging may be useful in the diagnosis of rejection, in spite of diverse loading conditions. 相似文献

Previous studies have shown that coal swelling is not reversible and highly dependent on coal concentration in a solvent. This rules out the conventional coal structural model of a covalently cross-linked three-dimensional network. Many coal molecules may be physically associated by relatively strong intra- and intermolecular interactions. Coal swelling in selected solvents was examined for fractionated samples of two high volatile C bituminous coals to investigate the role of physical associations in coal structure. The dependence of coal concentration on swelling in tetrahydrofuran and toluene was similar for pyridine soluble and insoluble fractions. Solvent swelling of pyridine solubles was smaller than that of pyridine insolubles. Pyridine extract was mixed with iodine and further fractionated into pyridine soluble and insoluble fractions. The swelling ratio of the pyridine solubles was much smaller than that of the pyridine insolubles. The difference between swelling with toluene and with tetrahydrofuran was larger for pyridine insolubles than for pyridine solubles. All these results indicate that significant portions of coal molecules are not a three-dimensional network, but are physically associated. 相似文献

Temperature dependence of cyclic creep behavior has been studied using a Cu bicrystal containing dispersed SiO2 particles and a [0 1 1] 20° twist boundary. Failure occurred at shorter times with increasing temperature and stress amplitude. The fracture-mode of the bicrystals changed sharply from transgranular to intergranular at a certain critical stress amplitude. The brittle intergranular fracture that occurred below the critical stress amplitude caused discontinuous life shortening. The observed fracture-mode change at the critical stress amplitude is discussed in relation to grain-boundary sliding and grain-boundary cracking. 相似文献

1. An autopsy case of frontotemporal dementia with onset at the early age of 28 years is reported. 2. The neuropathological features consisted of limited, knife-like frontotemporal atrophy with severe neuronal loss, spongiform change and gliosis, which is compatible with the frontotemporal dementia. 3. Biochemical determinations disclosed that biogenic amines and their metabolites, predominant in the dopaminergic markers, were depleted in the damaged regions. 4. BACKGROUND and PURPOSE: Neuroradiological investigations do not disclose a source of bleeding in some patients with spontaneous subcortical hemorrhage. These patients may harbor undetected vascular malformations and may be at risk of rebleeding in the future. We investigated patients with subcortical hemorrhage with use of repeat angiography and MRI to determine the incidence of occult vascular malformations and the risk of bleeding during follow-up. METHODS: We reviewed a consecutive series of 137 patients with subcortical hemorrhage during a 10-year period (June 1987 through June 1997). If the patient was <65 years old and the first angiogram and/or MRI did not show a source of bleeding, repeat angiography was recommended. All angiographic and MRI studies were reviewed. The relationship between the identified bleeding source and clinical variables such as patient age, sex, and history of hypertension and the size and location of the hematoma were examined. RESULTS: One hundred seven patients (78%) underwent angiography on admission, 10 (7%) had immediate surgery for hematoma without angiography, and 20 (15%) had neither angiography nor surgery. Overall, an etiology for the hemorrhage was found in 55 cases (40%). Vascular malformations were common in young patients without preexisting hypertension. A second angiogram was obtained in 22 patients, and 4 arteriovenous malformations were demonstrated. Rebleeding at the site of the initial hemorrhage was not observed after a mean follow-up of 68 months. CONCLUSIONS: Angiography performed acutely after hemorrhage may not demonstrate vascular malformations. Consideration should be given to repeat angiography in patients who do not have a specific cause for hemorrhage. 相似文献
