Anodic production of self‐organized titania nanotubes (TNTs) in an electrolyte enriched with graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs) is reported. The TNT‐GOQD composites grown under these conditions show in‐situ carbon doping, leading to the formation of anatase TiO2 domains and to the reduction to substoichiometric oxide (TiOx) and TiC. Surface science and electrochemical techniques are used in synergy to reveal that graphitic carbon is incorporated into TiO2 upon anodic nanotube growth promoting the formation of oxygen vacancies and thus TiO2 reduction. Upon annealing in ultrahigh vacuum, titanium oxycarbide (TiOxCy) is formed at temperatures ≥400 °C, where the material changes from a semiconductor to a semimetal. At the solid/liquid interface, the apparent electron donor density increases from as‐grown TNTs to as‐grown TNT‐GOQD composites due to the carbon doping, and the conductivity increases further with annealing temperature due to the increasing concentration of coordinatively unsaturated C atoms, crystallinity, and TiO2 reduction. The materials synthesized and characterized in this study find application in different areas ranging from visible light photocatalysis and photo‐electrochemistry to use as Li‐ion battery anodes and electrocatalyst supports, because it is possible to gradually tune the density of states below the Fermi level, which can be referred to as band‐gap engineering.  相似文献

Ethylene is a plant hormone controlling a wide range of physiological processes in plants. During postharvest storage of fruit and vegetables ethylene can induce negative effects including senescence, over-ripening, accelerated quality loss, increased fruit pathogen susceptibility, and physiological disorders, among others. Apart from the endogenous ethylene production by plant tissues, external sources of ethylene (e.g. engine exhausts, pollutants, plant, and fungi metabolism) occur along the food chain, in packages, storage chambers, during transportation, and in domestic refrigerators. Thus, it is a great goal in postharvest to avoid ethylene action. This review focuses on tools which may be used to inhibit ethylene biosynthesis/action or to remove ethylene surrounding commodities in order to avoid its detrimental effects on fruit and vegetable quality. As inhibitors of ethylene biosynthesis and action, good results have been found with polyamines and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) in terms of maintenance of fruit and vegetable quality and extension of postharvest shelf-life. As ethylene scavengers, the best results can be achieved by adsorbers combined with catalysts, either chemical or biological (biofilters).  相似文献

Coat colour changes in polar animals are related to seasonal variation in photic inputs. The present work was performed to study the photoresponses of hair follicular melanocytes in human skin. The melanocytes, being photosensitive cells, can function as UV biosensors, since dendrites extend towards the source of UV light. Fifty-one skin biopsies from the margin of vitiligo were subjected to whole skin organ cultures. These were exposed to a pulse of UV light to study hair bulb melanocytes in vitiligo. It is observed that the melanocytes are seen within the anagen matrix. These melanocytes are poorly dendritic in control and dark-incubated cultures. On UV exposure, they become highly dendritic, the dendrites extending towards the hair shaft in 93.5%. They show prominent catechol oxidase and noradrenaline positivity, all features of UV responsiveness. The melanocytes within the hair follicle are not directly exposed to UV light. The melanocyte dendricity and the alignment of dendrites towards the shaft on UV exposure indicate that the columns of the cells in the hair shaft act as an efficient fibre-optic system, transmitting UV light. Morphologically, the keratinocytes in the hair shaft are arranged in compressed linear columns which resemble the coaxial bundles of commercial fibre-optic strands as is observed in plants. Keratinocytes in the inner and outer sheaths do not show this arrangement. Thus the hair follicle functions as a specialised UV receptor in the skin responding to nuances of photic inputs in human skin. This is reflected in coat colour changes in animals exposed to large variations in day-night cycles.  相似文献

The presence of sulfamethazine residues in pig and calf hair was compared with the residual levels encountered in the corresponding edible tissues (liver and muscle) as a consequence of drug administration. Sulfamethazine up to 84.7 mg kg-1 was found in calf hair samples after a pharmacological treatment, with a significant effect of hair pigmentation. High concentrations of the parent drug were detected in calf hair for 4 weeks after administration, when sulfamethazine residues were no longer detectable in the corresponding edible tissues. In a similar way, pig hair also accumulated sulfamethazine residues up to 40.5 mg kg-1, which was more than the amount detected in the corresponding muscle and liver samples at slaughter. Hair analysis seems a suitable tool to improve the efficacy of regulatory controls, and thus the safety of the food chain and to discourage the improper use of sulfamethazine in animal farming.  相似文献

HP infection is involved in the pathogenesis of several gastroduodenal diseases, as type B chronic gastritis, duodenal and gastric ulcer, MALT lymphoma and gastric cancer. The recent availability of molecular techniques, specifically the PCR, allow us to detect very low amounts of the bacterium. The aim of the study is to evaluate the presence of HP in gastric juice by PCR technique and to correlate this findings with histology (Giemsa) of gastric mucosa. Gastric juice PCR positive findings were found in 10/31 (32.3%) HP positive patients at histology. We concluded that HP in gastric juice is possible to detect by molecular techniques. In our study 32.3% of the patients showed the presence of HP in gastric juice.  相似文献
