Visibly highly transparent indium tin oxide (ITO)/epoxy nanocomposites were prepared by dispersing polyglycidyl methacrylate (PGMA) grafted ITO nanoparticles into a commercial epoxy resin. The oleic acid stabilized, highly crystalline, and near monodisperse ITO nanoparticles were synthesized via a nonaqueous synthetic route with multigram batch quantities. An azido-phosphate ligand was synthesized and used to exchange with oleic acid on the ITO surface. The azide terminal group allows for the grafting of epoxy resin compatible PGMA polymer chains via Cu(I) catalyzed alkyne-azide "click" chemistry. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation shows that PGMA grafted ITO particles were homogeneously dispersed within the epoxy matrix. Optical properties of ITO/epoxy nanocomposites with different ITO concentrations were studied with an ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared (UV-vis-NIR) spectrometer. All the ITO/epoxy nanocomposites show more than 90% optical transparency in the visible light range and absorption of UV light from 300 to 400 nm. In the near-infrared region, ITO/epoxy nanocomposites demonstrate low transmittance and the infrared (IR) transmission cutoff wavelength of the composites shifts toward the lower wavelength with increased ITO concentration. The ITO/epoxy nanocomposites were applied onto both glass and plastic substrates as visibly transparent and UV/IR opaque optical coatings.  相似文献

A key discovery in the last two decades has been the realisation that gold, when prepared as supported nanoparticles, is exceptionally effective as an oxidation catalyst, particularly for the oxidation of alcohols. The catalytic efficacy is enhanced further by the alloying of gold with palladium. In this paper we study the effect of the method preparation of gold–palladium alloy nanoparticles supported on titania and investigate the activity of the materials for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol. We contrast impregnation and deposition–precipitation methods and demonstrate that the most active catalysts are prepared using the deposition–precipitation method.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A pilot plant investigation was conducted to study the influence of hydrotreating conditions on conversion and characteristics of diesel blend and to determine the severity of operating conditions required to meet the proposed product specifications for diesel fuel in India. A typical diesel blend derived from various refinery streams with sulphur content of 2·06 wt% was hydrodesulphurised over a commercial NiO-MoO3/Al2O3 catalyst in a pilot plant trickle bed reactor. The experiments were conducted at 300–370°C, 30–50 kg/cm2, 2·0 3·0 hr-1 liquid hourly space velocity and constant H2/oil ratio of 185 m3/m3. The data showed that the diesel blend could be hydrotreated to meet revised product specifications of 0·25 wt% sulphur, 46 cetane number by increasing the severity of operation. The cetane number and aromatic saturation were limited by thermodynamic equilibrium at temperatures above 360°C. The influence of temperature was found to be more pronounced than that of pressure in the range of operating conditions studied.  相似文献

New‐fangled hybrid composite membranes were prepared by the incorporation of 5, 10, and 15 mass % NaY–zeolite particles into blend membranes of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)‐g‐acrylamide/sodium alginate (NaAlg) and crosslinked with glutaraldehyde. The pervaporation (PV) separation performance of the hybrid composite membranes was explored for the dehydration of isopropyl alcohol from their aqueous solutions at 30°C. The effect of NaY–zeolite in these blend membranes was investigated in PV dehydration. From the experimental results, we found that NaY particles could be intercalated in the aqueous polymer solution. The obtained results show that both the flux and selectivity increased simultaneously with increasing zeolite content in the membrane. This was explained on the basis of an enhancement of the hydrophilicity, selective adsorption, and molecular sieving action by the creation of pores in the membrane matrix. The membranes were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Bulk ZnO nanorod assemblies have been successfully fabricated on CuO nanowires through spin coating of organoprecursor gels. A thin film of CuO nanowires was first generated by direct heating of a metallic Cu-foil at 500 °C in an air atmosphere. A stable colloidal organo-precursor sol synthesized by dissolving equimolar zinc acetate dihydrate and monoethanolamine in 2-methoxyethanol was subsequently repeatedly deposited onto the CuO nanowires by spin coating. The formation of ZnO nanorod assemblies was controlled by varying the number of coatings. The average diameter of the ZnO rods was determined to be ~600 nm.  相似文献

Effect of Ca addition on the changes in morphology of hypoeutectic Mg?C1.15Si alloy has been studied. The addition of Ca has resulted in morphological changes in ??-Mg halos by refining it from coarse dendrites to finer shape structure and the lamellar eutectic Mg2Si phase changes to fine fiber type structure. The formation of Ca containing precipitate and its modifying mechanisms in Mg?CSi alloys is also investigated.  相似文献

Recent years have witnessed a global increase in allergy and asthma, particularly in developed countries. Attempts to develop effective control measures for allergy and asthma resulted in the exploration of alternate medicines including herbal remedies traditionally used in old world countries. Turmeric is known for its multiple health restoring properties, and has been used in treating several diseases including several respiratory disorders. Turmeric is a common spice used in the culinary preparations in South and East Asian countries. The active component of turmeric is curcumin, a polyphenolic phytochemical, with anti-inflammatory, antiamyloid, antiseptic, antitumor, and antioxidative properties. Curcumin was reported to have antiallergic properties with inhibitory effect on histamine release from mast cells. The effectiveness of curcumin in allergy and asthma has been further investigated using a murine model of allergy. The results indicate a marked inhibition of allergic response in animals treated with curcumin suggesting a major role for curcumin in reducing the allergic response. The present review focuses on the results of research aimed to understand the immunomodulation induced by curcumin and its associated roles in the amelioration of allergy. These findings needed further evaluation, extrapolation, and confirmation before using curcumin for controlling allergy and asthma in humans.  相似文献

We report the computation of a family of travelling wave solutions of pipe flow up to Re=75000. As in all lower branch solutions, streaks and rolls feature prominently in these solutions. For large Re, these solutions develop a critical layer away from the wall. Although the solutions are linearly unstable, the two unstable eigenvalues approach 0 as Re-->infinity at rates given by Re-0.41 and Re-0.87; surprisingly, the solutions become more stable as the flow becomes less viscous. The formation of the critical layer and other aspects of the Re-->infinity limit could be universal to lower branch solutions of shear flows. We give implementation details of the GMRES-hookstep and Arnoldi iterations used for computing these solutions and their spectra, while pointing out the new aspects of our method.  相似文献
