ABSTRACT

The present study demonstrates the distribution of carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration over the Indian region and the surrounding oceanic regions during 2009–2012, using measurements from satellites viz., Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) and Atmospheric Infrared Sounder, Carbon Tracker (CT) model simulations and flask measurements from two Indian stations Sinhagad (SNG) (73°45′ E, 18°21′36″ N) and Cape Rama (CRI) (73°54′ E, 15°6′ N). The concentration of CO2 is observed to be maximum during pre-monsoon and shows a decreasing phase during the post-monsoon season. In a regional scale, it is found that Indo-Gangetic Plain and northern India have relatively higher concentrations compared to the other regions. The probability distribution of the concentration differences shows that for most of the time, the differences lie between ±3 ppmv between GOSAT and CT. The comparison between the CO2 flask measurements over SNG and CRI with respect to that of GOSAT and CT clearly reveals that the differences in CO2 are as high as 10 ppmv between the ground- and satellite-based measurements. Further, we utilized the Lagrangian model FLEXible PARTicle (FLEXPART) to understand the source?receptor relationship over CRI, SNG, and over the equatorial Indian Ocean (IO). The source contributions from the northern and eastern continental regions of the Indian region are found to be more influential over SNG compared to CRI. It is also found from simulations that the equatorial IO has less influence from the continental source and therefore has a reduced seasonal variability compared to the other regions considered in the present study.  相似文献

Conjugated copolymers are important materials for organic light-emitting diodes. Here, an investigation of the photophysical and charge-transporting properties of the prototypical poly(p-phenylene vinylene) based copolymer SuperYellow (SY) is reported. The study also investigated the effect of processing conditions by comparing the properties of spin-coated and solution-cast films. For both types of films, the results of time-resolved fluorescence and photoluminescence quantum yield measurements are similar. The high photoluminescence quantum yield of 60% and its independence of processing conditions shows the effectiveness of the bulky side groups in preventing concentration quenching of fluorescence. Time of flight measurements of charge mobility in both spin-coated and solution-cast films also showed similar results, with mobilities in the range 10?6–10?7 cm2/V s for both films. These results provide important information about a widely used copolymer and show that a good polymer light-emitting diode material can have low mobility.  相似文献

Total site integration offers energy conservation opportunities across different individual processes and also to design as well as to optimize the central utility system. In total site integration of the overall process, indirect integration with intermediate fluids or through a central utility system are preferred as it offers greater advantages of flexibility and process control but with reduced energy conservation opportunities. To achieve the maximum possible indirect integration between processes assisted heat transfer, i.e., heat transfer outside the region between process pinch points, plays a significant role. A new concept is proposed in this paper for total site integration by generating a site level grand composite curve (SGCC). Proposed SGCC targets the maximum possible indirect integration as it incorporates assisted heat transfer. In this paper, a methodology is proposed to estimate the cogeneration potential at the total site level, utilizing the concept of multiple utility targeting on the SGCC. The proposed methodology to estimate the cogeneration potential is simple and linear as well as utilizes the rigorous energy balance at each steam header.  相似文献

An attempt was made to accelerate the flavour development in cheese base with the help of exogenous proteolytic and lipolytic enzymes (1:1 proportion, each at the rate of 0.025% by weight of cheese‐base) and ripening at elevated temperatures (i.e. 20 ± 1 °C) for up to 12 days. To counter the bitterness developed, adjunct cultures were used: viable or attenuated (freeze‐shocked or heat shocked). Study of biochemical characteristics, electrophoretic pattern and sensory evaluation of the product were carried out. An acceptable enzyme‐modified, lightly salted cheese base was obtained using 0.025% each of proteolytic and lipolytic enzymes, along with 5% starter culture and adjuncts followed by ripening up to 12 days. Freeze‐shocked adjunct Lactobacillus helveticus produced enzyme‐modified cheese base with no detectable bitterness. The usage of exogenous enzymes, temperature of ripening, ripening period and interactions amongst these parameters had significant (P < 0.01) influence on all of the biochemical characteristics monitored.  相似文献

The uncertainty about the fouling behaviour is one of the main reasons why plate and frame heat exchangers are not more widely installed in the chemical process industry and in power generating facilities. In the present investigation, the deposition of calcium sulphate in two different plate heat exchanger geometries was investigated. The deposition process was deliberately focused on crystallisation fouling through the installation of an in-line filter and the mode of preparation of the test solution. The investigated operating parameters were solution concentration, flow velocity, and bulk and surface temperatures. The heat exchangers were opened after each experiment to record the appearance and distribution of the deposits. The key result of this investigation is the strong correlation between the plate design and the tendency for deposit formation.  相似文献

A simple mathematical model has been developed to evaluate the technoeconomic performance of a hybrid solar water heating system for commercial and industrial applications. Numerical calculations, corresponding to Delhi climatic data and for the prevalent cost of a solar energy system in the Indian market, show that the optimum collector area (meeting nearly 45 percent of the daily hot water demand M litres) is 0–0075 Mm2; either a reduction of about 35 per cent in the present solar collector costs or a more than 20 per cent rise in the cost of presently subsidized diesel oil makes the solar option economic. With the present parameters the cost of useful solar energy is higher than that obtained from the conventional system.  相似文献

This paper concerns the exploitation of user transparent inherent parallelism of pure Prolog programs using program transformation. We describe a novel paradigmenumerate-and-filter for transforming generate-and-test programs for execution under the committed-choice model extended to incorporate multiple solutions based on set enumeration. The paradigm simulates OR-parallelism by stream AND-parallelism integrating OR-parallelism, AND-parallelism, and stream parallelism. Generate-and-test programs are classified into three categories:simple generate-and-test, recursively embedded generate-and-test, and deeply intertwined generate-and-test. The intermediate programs are further transformed to reduce structure copying and metacalls. Algorithms are presented and demonstrated by transforming the representative examples of different classes of generate-and-test programs to Flat Concurrent Prolog equivalents. We analyze the error performance of an improved hybrid selection/maximal-ratio combining (H-S/MRC) technique called minimum selection H-S/MRC in flat Rayleigh fading for coherent digital modulation schemes. Here the minimum number of diversity branches are selected such that their combined signal-to-noise ratio is above a given threshold. We derive a closed-form expression for the distribution of the number of selected branches. This distribution is used to obtain the symbol error probability.  相似文献

Following an earlier developed mathematical model [E. Shaviv, Building Int. 8, 12(1975)], appropriate sizes of sunshade overhangs over windows of different orientations have been calculated so that no direct sun radiation penetrates through them for a period from 22 March to 22 September at New Delhi (latitude 28°35′N). Meta-analyses were performed on 25 comparative Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and MMPI-2 studies of 1,428 male African Americans versus 2,837 male European Americans, 12 studies of 1,053 female African Americans versus 1,470 female European Americans, and 13 studies of 500 male Latino Americans and 1,345 male European Americans. Aggregate effect sizes suggest higher scores for ethnic minority groups than for European Americans on some MMPI/MMPI-2 scales and lower scores on others. However, none of the aggregate effect sizes suggest substantive differences from either a statistical or clinical perspective. The MMPI and MMPI-2 apparently do not unfairly portray African Americans and Latinos as pathological. Effect sizes across studies generally did not vary as a function of sociodemographic variables, research setting, or use of the MMPI versus MMPI-2.
