Background  

Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] is the major circulating form of vitamin D and a standard indicator of vitamin D status. Emerging evidence in the literature suggests a high prevalence of suboptimal vitamin D (as defined by serum 25(OH)D levels of <32 ng/ml) as well as an association between lower serum levels and higher mortality in cancer. We investigated the effect of oral vitamin D supplementation as a means for restoring suboptimal levels to optimal levels in cancer.  相似文献

Galvannealed steel sheets (GA) have become the mainstream steel sheet for automobile applications because of their superior corrosion resistance, paintability, and weldability. To impart specific properties, different coatings on GA steel sheet were reported to improve properties further. In this context, we have developed an electroplating process (flash coating) for bright and adherent Fe-Zn alloy coating on GA steel sheet to enhance performances such as weldability, frictional behavior, phosphatability, and defect coverage. A comparative study with bare GA steel sheet was carried out for better elastration. The electroplating time was reduced below 10 s for practical applicability in an industrial coating line by modulating the bath composition. Electroplating was performed at current density of 200-500 A/m2 which yielded with higher cathode current efficiency of 85-95%. The performance results show that Fe-10 wt.% Zn-coated GA steel sheet (coating time 7 s) has better spot weldability, lower dynamic coefficient of friction (0.06-0.07 in lubrication), and better corrosion resistance compared to bare GA steel sheet. Uniform phosphate coating with globular crystal size of 2-5 µm was obtained on Fe-Zn flash-coated GA steel sheet. Hopeite was the main phosphate compound (77.9 wt.%) identified along with spencerite (13.6 wt.%) and phosphophyllite (8.5 wt.%).  相似文献

A factorial design at two levels and four factors has been carried out in order to investigate the potential for hydrogen generation using Eosin Y-sensitized TiO2/Pt catalyst under visible solar light in presence of triethanolamine (TEOA) as electron donor. The solution pH was found to be a significant parameter, and was maintained at pH 7.0 throughout the investigation. Visible light irradiation time (I-time) showed highest positive effect on hydrogen generation followed by initial Eosin Y concentration (for dye-sensitization) and the TEOA concentration while Pt content (wt %) in TiO2 showed negative effect toward hydrogen generation. Experimental data were analyzed using both “Pareto analysis” as well as conventional regression analysis techniques. A regression function is proposed that satisfactorily predicts hydrogen generation.  相似文献

We propose a generalized form of optimal teleportation witness to demonstrate their importance in experimental detection of the larger set of entangled states useful for teleportation in higher dimensional systems. The interesting properties of our witness reveal that teleportation witness can be used to characterize mixed state entanglement using Schmidt numbers. Our results show that while every teleportation witness is also a entanglement witness, the converse is not true. Also, we show that a hermitian operator is a teleportation witness iff it is a decomposable entanglement witness. In addition, we analyze the practical significance of our study by decomposing our teleportation witness in terms of Pauli and Gell-Mann matrices, which are experimentally measurable quantities.  相似文献

Polymeric mucoadhesive pellets of nifedipine were designed using computer software and they were prepared by extrusion-spheronization using HPMC K15M and κ-carrageenan with microcrystalline cellulose. A randomized rotatable two factor central composite design was applied for assessment of influence of two independent variables such as concentration of κ-carrageenan and HPMC K15M on dependent variables. Pellets were characterized by FTIR, DSC, SEM, flow properties, particle size, abrasion resistance, sphericity, drug content, percent production yield, in vitro drug release, ex vivo mucoadhesion, stability studies and similarity factor. The optimized formulation was selected based on criteria of sphericity nearest to 1.0 with maximum cumulative drug release percentage. Formulation NF6 exhibited sufficient porous spheres, free flowing and smooth surface mucoadhesion of 91.34 % and drug content 98.22 ± 0.37 %. Kinetic modeling revealed that the formulation followed the Higuchi model and showed the Quassi-Fickian drug release mechanism. The similarity factor, F2 value, was found to be 74 ± 6 and there was no significant change in drug content and ex vivo mucoadhesion after 90 days at 40 ± 2 °C, and 75 ± 5 % RH clearly indicated the optimized batch NF6 was stable. Thus, it can be concluded that use of κ-carrageenan, microcrystalline cellulose and HPMC K15M at the 20:35:10 w/w ratio could provide an effective carrier for enhancement of sphericity and sustained release of matrix pellets.  相似文献

New imidazolium gemini surfactants were synthesized by reaction of epichlorohydrin with long chain fatty alcohols furnishing products 2-(alkoxymethyl)oxirane followed by their subsequent treatment with imidazole resulting in the formation of 1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl-3 alkoxy)propane-2-ol which on subsequent treatment with 1,2-dibromoethane and 1,3-dibromopropane resulted in the formation of title gemini surfactants:1,2-bis(1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)ethane bromide (7), 1,3-bis(1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)propane bromide (8), 1,2-bis(1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)ethane bromide (9), 1,3-bis(1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)propane bromide (10), 1,2-bis (1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)ethane bromide (11) and 1,3-bis (1(3-alkoxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium)propane bromide (12). Their identification was based on IR, 1H-, 13C-NMR, DEPT, COSY and mass spectral studies. Their surface active properties were also evaluated on the basis of surface tension and conductivity measurements.  相似文献

A qualitative evolution of an asymmetric Raman line-shape function from a Lorentzian line-shape is discussed here for application in low dimensional semiconductors. The step-by-step evolution reported here is based on the phonon confinement model which is successfully used in literature to explain the asymmetric Raman line-shape from semiconductor nanostructures. Physical significance of different terms in the theoretical asymmetric Raman line-shape has been explained here. Better understanding of theoretical reasoning behind each term allows one to use the theoretical Raman line-shape without going into the details of theory from first principle. This will enable one to empirically derive a theoretical Raman line-shape function for any material if information about its phonon dispersion relation, size dependence, etc., is known.  相似文献

Dielectric and rotational viscosity measurements of a multi-component ferroelectric liquid crystal mixture were performed by adding a small concentration (0.01 wt%) of silica and multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Liquid crystals turn out to be outstanding hosts for nanomaterials. A remarkable increase in the rotational viscosity was noticed in CNT doped system as compared to silica doped same liquid crystal system. Comparison of dielectric studies shows higher value of permittivity and dielectric losses for silica-doped sample than those of CNT doped sample. The results have been interpreted both experimentally and theoretically.  相似文献

Therapeutic antibodies are antigenically similar to human antibodies and are difficult to detect in assays of human serum samples without the use of the therapeutic antibody's complementary antigen. Herein for the first time, we established a platform to detect Herceptin in solutions by using a small (<2.2 kDa), inexpensive, highly stable human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2) mimotope-derived synthetic peptide immobilized on the surface of a Au quartz electrode. We used the HER2 mimotope as a substitute for the HER2 receptor protein in piezoimmunosensor or quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) assays to detect Herceptin in human serum. We demonstrated that assay sensitivity was dependent upon the amino acids used to tether and link the peptide to the sensor surface and the buffers used to carry out the assays. The detection limit of the piezoimmunosensor assay was 0.038 nM with a linear operating range of 0.038-0.859 nM. Little nonspecific binding to other therapeutic antibodies (Avastin and Rituxan) was observed. Levels of Herceptin in serum samples obtained from treated patients, as ascertained using the synthetic peptide-based QCM assay, were typical for those treated with Herceptin. The findings of this study are significant in that low-cost synthetic peptides could be used in a QCM assay, in lieu of native or recombinant antigens or capture antibodies, to rapidly detect a therapeutic antibody in human serum. The results suggested that a synthetic peptide bearing a particular functional sequence could be applied for developing a new generation of affinity-based immunosensors to detect a broad range of clinical biomarkers.  相似文献
