Preliminary results of an investigation focused on the influence of electrokinetic treatment on the mechanical and hydraulic
behaviour of clayey soils are presented. The experimental programme aims at providing a contribution to the sustainability
of contaminant extraction or containment via electroosmosis. Changes in the hydraulic and mechanical properties of two illitic
clayey soils, subjected to a DC electric field, were investigated. Samples of the two soils were subjected to electrokinetic
filtration, for different periods of time, and under different constant loads. Afterwards, they were tested under one-dimensional
compression to detect changes in stiffness and hydraulic conductivity due to the electrical treatment. After the application
of a DC field for a few hours, a small reversible increment in the average soil stiffness was observed, with respect to the
untreated soil, while the hydraulic conductivity was not affected substantially. Dramatic changes of the mechanical and hydraulic
soil properties, correlated to changes of the soil pH, were observed following non-conditioned electrokinetic treatment with
duration of the order of days. 相似文献
Detection of isomorphism among kinematic chains is essential in mechanical design, but difficult and computationally expensive.
It has been shown that both traditional methods and previously presented neural networks still have a lot to be desired in
aspects such as simplifying procedure of identification and adapting automatic computation. Therefore, a new algorithm based
on a competitive Hopfield network is developed for automatic computation in the kinematic chain isomorphism problem. The neural
approach provides directly interpretable solutions and does not demand tuning of parameters. We have tested the algorithm
by solving problems reported in the recent mechanical literature. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the network
that rapidly identifies isomorphic kinematic chains. 相似文献
β'-Sialons are phases of the Si-Al-O-N system. The carbonitriding of clays and kaolins is a preparation method. The reaction mechanism of clay carbonitriding is verified by means of the relation among crystalline phases formed and the weight loss produced in the samples during the reaction. Two clays were previously mixed with carbon black and pressed into pellets, flowing through N2 atmosphere, at five temperatures within the range 1335–1427°C. The phases formed (XRD)—mullite, SiC, β'A-sialon, and oxynitrides—were related to the weight loss measured in the pellet independently of reaction temperature and time. The β'A-sialon and the nitrogenous phases were formed from SiC and mullite. A z value decrease for β'A-sialon was observed during reaction progression. 相似文献
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the levels of free carnitine and carnitine esters in the muscles of patients with inflammatory myopathies. METHODS: Six men and 7 women with inflammatory myopathy and 25 age-matched healthy controls were studied. Free carnitine and carnitine esters in muscle homogenates were measured by a radiochemical procedure. Muscle histochemical staining and measurement of respiratory chain enzyme activity were also performed. RESULTS: Eleven patients had muscle carnitine insufficiency. Five of them had subsarcolemmal oxidative accumulations, 5 had lipid droplets, and 4 had defects of the respiratory chain enzyme complexes. CONCLUSION: Abnormal distribution of muscle carnitine is present in patients with inflammatory myopathies and could impair muscle function. Coexistent mitochondrial dysfunction may contribute to carnitine insufficiency. 相似文献
Detailed analyses and comparisons of urban travel forecasts prepared by applying the state-of-practice sequential procedure
and the solution of a combined network equilibrium model are presented. The sequential procedure for solving the trip distribution,
mode choice and assignment problems with feedback is the current practice in most transportation planning agencies, although
its important limitations are well known. The solution of a combined model, in contrast, results from a single mathematical
formulation, which ensures a well-converged and consistent result. Using a real network, several methods for solving the sequential
procedure with feedback are compared to the solution of the combined model ESTRAUS. The results of these methods are shown
to have various levels of instability. The paper concludes with a call for a new paradigm of travel forecasting practice based
on an internally consistent model formulation that can be solved to a level of precision suitable for comparing alternative
scenarios. 相似文献
In rural areas, depopulation is mainly due to a lack of economic and employment opportunities. In this context, the reservoirs already built can be a source of socioeconomic development based on tourism and outdoor leisure activities. The condition for this development to materialize is that reservoir management considers these activities. In Central Spain, a process of rural depopulation has been generated in the municipalities around the reservoirs at the Upper Tagus River, as water management allows water transfers from the Tagus to the Segura River without taking into account regulations that prioritize and protect donor basin users. Through the comparison of reservoir water management and demographic data of two rural areas close to the reservoirs, this article reveals the direct relationship between reservoir management that enables recreational uses with its consequent socioeconomic development and the maintenance of the population in the territory. Consequently, reservoir water management based on the socioeconomic development of reservoir banks is necessary and a priority over transfers to another basin.

Combinatorial optimization problems are usually modeled in a static fashion. In this kind of problems, all data are known in advance, i.e. before the optimization process has started. However, in practice, many problems are dynamic, and change while the optimization is in progress. For example, in the dynamic vehicle routing problem (DVRP), new orders arrive when the working day plan is in progress. In this case, routes must be reconfigured dynamically while executing the current simulation. The DVRP is an extension of a conventional routing problem, its main interest being the connection to many real word applications (repair services, courier mail services, dial-a-ride services, etc.). In this article, a DVRP is examined, and solving methods based on particle swarm optimization and variable neighborhood search paradigms are proposed. The performance of both approaches is evaluated using a new set of benchmarks that we introduce here as well as existing benchmarks in the literature. Finally, we measure the behavior of both methods in terms of dynamic adaptation. 相似文献
Design, implementation and operation of solar thermal electricity plants are no more an academic task, rather they have become a necessity. In this paper, we work with power industries to formulate a multi-objective optimization model and attempt to solve the resulting problem using classical as well as evolutionary optimization techniques. On a set of four objectives having complex trade-offs, our proposed procedure first finds a set of trade-off solutions showing the entire range of optimal solutions. Thereafter, the evolutionary optimization procedure is combined with a multiple criterion decision making (MCDM) approach to focus on preferred regions of the trade-off frontier. Obtained solutions are compared with a classical generating method. Eventually, a decision-maker is involved in the process and a single preferred solution is obtained in a systematic manner. Starting with generating a wide spectrum of trade-off solutions to have a global understanding of feasible solutions, then concentrating on specific preferred regions for having a more detailed understanding of preferred solutions, and then zeroing on a single preferred solution with the help of a decision-maker demonstrates the use of multi-objective optimization and decision making methodologies in practice. As a by-product, useful properties among decision variables that are common to the obtained solutions are gathered as vital knowledge for the problem. The procedures used in this paper are ready to be used to other similar real-world problem solving tasks. 相似文献
A novel mesh-free approach for solving differential equations based on Evolution Strategies (ESs) is presented. Any structure is assumed in the equations making the process general and suitable for linear and nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations (ODEs and PDEs), as well as systems of ordinary differential equations (SODEs). Candidate solutions are expressed as partial sums of Fourier series. Taking advantage of the decreasing absolute value of the harmonic coefficients with the harmonic order, several ES steps are performed. Harmonic coefficients are taken into account one by one starting with the lower order ones. Experimental results are reported on several problems extracted from the literature to illustrate the potential of the proposed approach. Two cases (an initial value problem and a boundary condition problem) have been solved using numerical methods and a quantitative comparative is performed. In terms of accuracy and storing requirements the proposed approach outperforms the numerical algorithm. 相似文献
