Recriticality in a BWR during reflooding of an overheated partly degraded core, i.e. with relocated control rods, has been studied for a total loss of electric power accident scenario. In order to assess the impact of recriticality on reactor safety, including accident management strategies, the following issues have been investigated in the SARA project: (1) the energy deposition in the fuel during super-prompt power burst; (2) the quasi steady-state reactor power following the initial power burst; and (3) containment response to elevated quasi steady-state reactor power. The approach was to use three computer codes and to further develop and adapt them for the task. The codes were SIMULATE-3K, APROS and RECRIT. Recriticality analyses were carried out for a number of selected reflooding transients for the Oskarshamn 3 plant in Sweden with SIMULATE-3K and for the Olkiluoto 1 plant in Finland with all three codes. The core initial and boundary conditions prior to recriticality have been studied with the severe accident codes SCDAP/RELAP5, MELCOR and MAAP4. The results of the analyses show that all three codes predict recriticality—both super-prompt power bursts and quasi steady-state power generation—for the range of parameters studied, i.e. with core uncovering and heat-up to maximum core temperatures of approximately 1800 K, and water flow rates of 45–2000 kg s−1 injected into the downcomer. Since recriticality takes place in a small fraction of the core, the power densities are high, which results in large energy deposition in the fuel during power burst in some accident scenarios. The highest value, 418 cal g−1, was obtained with SIMULATE-3K for an Oskarshamn 3 case with reflooding rate of 2000 kg s−1. In most cases, however, the predicted energy deposition was smaller, below the regulatory limits for fuel failure, but close to or above recently observed thresholds for fragmentation and dispersion of high burn-up fuel. The highest calculated quasi steady-state power following initial power excursion was in most cases approximately 20% of the nominal reactor power, according to SIMULATE-3K and APROS. However, in some RECRIT cases higher power levels, approaching 50% of the nominal power, were predicted leading to fuel temperatures exceeding the melting point, as a result of insufficient cooling of the fuel. Long-term containment response to recriticality was assessed through MELCOR calculations for the Olkiluoto 1 plant. At a stabilised reactor power of 19% of nominal power, the containment failure due to overpressurisation was predicted to occur 1.3 h after recriticality, if the accident is not mitigated. The SARA studies have clearly shown the sensitivity of recriticality phenomena to thermal-hydraulic modelling, the specifics of accident scenario, such as distribution of boron-carbide, and importance of multi-dimensional kinetics for determination of local power distribution in the core. The results of the project have pointed out the importance of adequate accident management strategies to be used by reactor operators and emergency staff during recovery actions. This letter presents the methodology and accuracy assessment of a new 500 m spatial resolution land cover map of the western part of insular Southeast Asia. The map was produced using 250 Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images (acquired 1 January–2 July 2007), elevation information and peatland maps. The map covers the Malaysian Peninsula and the major islands of Sumatra, Java and Borneo, in addition to numerous smaller islands. The classification scheme of 12 classes reflects the special characteristics of land cover of insular Southeast Asia. With an overall accuracy of 82%, the map provides reliable new information on the current land cover distribution in this region, which is experiencing rapid land cover changes.  相似文献

The hydrogenation kinetics of 2,2‐dimethylol‐1‐butanal (TMP‐aldol) and formaldehyde were studied over two commercial supported catalysts; NiCr on silica and CuCr on alumina. Both catalysts hydrogenated the aldol selectively to triol, but the kinetic trends differed widely. With the nickel catalyst, the aldol hydrogenation was not started before almost all of the formaldehyde was consumed from the bulk phase, whereas the copper‐containing catalyst hydrogenated aldol and formaldehyde in parallel. Rate equations for the hydrogenation of aldol and formaldehyde were derived from a competitive surface mechanism. Since formaldehyde retarded significantly the hydrogenation rate of aldol over NiCr, the kinetic model was modified in order to take into account the inhibitory effect of formaldehyde. With the modified model, the experimental data produced over the NiCr catalyst were rather well described. The data from the experiments over the CuCr catalyst followed pseudo‐first order kinetics remarkably well. Furthermore, the kinetic model without the inhibitory effect of formaldehyde was able to describe the governing trends of the data obtained over the CuCr catalyst. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The prevalence of Listeria monocytogenes in retail roe, as well as the microbiological and sensory qualities of the roe, were studied for three fish species under three different storage conditions. A total of 147 Finnish rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus), vendace (Coregonus albula), and burbot (Lota lota) roe samples were bought fresh, frozen, or frozen-thawed from Finnish retail markets. The overall prevalence of L. monocytogenes was 5%; however, the prevalence of the pathogen in fresh roe was 18%. Fresh-bought roe tested positive for Listeria spp. and for L. monocytogenes, respectively, 5 and 20 times as often as did frozen and frozen-thawed roe products combined. The microbiological quality (analyzed as total aerobic heterotrophic bacteria and coliform bacteria) of 78% of the roe samples was unacceptable. Frozen roe samples were found to have the best microbiological quality. According to the results of a sensory evaluation, at least one sensory attribute (appearance, odor freshness, texture, and freshness of taste) was unacceptable for 29% of the roe samples studied. The sensory quality of roe samples bought fresh was better than that of roe samples bought frozen or frozen-thawed. From the results of this study, it is concluded that both the microbiological and the sensory qualities of roe at the retail level need to be improved.  相似文献

Alterations in chylomicron and VLDL TAG and the magnitude of postprandial lipemia were studied in healthy volunteers after two meals of equal FA composition but different TAG-FA positional distribution. Molecular level information of individual lipoprotein TAG regioisomers was obtained with a tandem MS method. The incremental area under the response curve of VLDL TAG was large (P=0.021) after modified lard than after lard. In plasma TAG, the difference did not quite reach statistical significance (P=0.086). In general, there were less TAG with palmitic acid in the sn-2 position and more TAG with oleic acid in the sn-2 position in chylomicrons than in fat ingested. From 1.5 to 8 h postprandially, the proportion of individual chylomicron TAG was constant or influenced by TAG M.W. VLDL TAG regioisomerism was similar regardless of the positional distribution of fat ingested. Significant alterations were seen in VLDL TAG FA, in M.W. fractions, and in individual regioisomers with respect to time. The TAG sn-14∶0-18∶1-18∶1+sn-18∶1-18∶1-14∶0, sn-16∶0-16∶1-18∶1+sn-18∶1-16∶1-16∶0, and sn-16∶1-18∶1-18∶1+sn-18∶1-18∶1-16∶1 decreased (P<0.05); and sn-16∶0-16∶0-18∶2+sn-18∶2-16∶0-16∶0, sn-16∶0-16∶0-18∶1+sn-18∶1-16∶0-16∶0, sn-16∶0-18∶1-16∶0, and sn-16∶0-18∶1-18∶2+sn-18∶2-18∶1-16∶0 increased (P<0.05) after both meals. In conclusion, positional distribution of TAG FA was found to affect postprandial lipid metabolism in healthy normolipidemic subjects.  相似文献

Adherence of 3 persistent and 14 nonpersistent Listeria monocytogenes strains to stainless steel surfaces after short and long contact times was investigated. L. monocytogenes strains were obtained from poultry plants and an ice cream plant throughout several years. Adherence tests were performed in tryptic soy broth at 25 degrees C for 1, 2, and 72 h. Test surfaces were rinsed after the contact time, and attached cells were stained with acridine orange and enumerated with an epifluorescence microscope. The persistent poultry plant strains showed adherence 2- to 11-fold higher than the nonpersistent strains following 1- and 2-h contact times. The adherence of the persistent ice cream plant strain after 1- and 2-h contact times was higher than most of the nonpersistent strains. Seven of 12 nonpersistent ice cream strains showed an adherence of less than half that of the persistent strain. After 72 h, the differences in adherence were not as marked, since half the nonpersistent strains had reached adherence levels comparable with the persistent strains. In fact, three nonpersistent strains showed even higher adherence than the persistent strains. Thus, results of this study reveal that persistent L. monocytogenes strains show enhanced adherence at short contact times, promoting their survival in food processing facilities and possibly having an effect on initiation of persistent plant contamination.  相似文献

A study of the relathonship between alcohol consumption and nonfatal myocardial infarction, involving 399 cases and 2486 reference subjects, indicated absence of any major overall association (rate ratio point estimate of 0.9 with 95% confidence limits of 0.6 and 1.2), but there was some evidence of a lower rate in subjects consuming six or more drinks per day (rate ratio point estimate of 0.6 with 95% confidence limits of 0.3 and 1.1). We studied the changes in water quality and formation of biofilms occurring in a pilot-scale water distribution system with two generally used pipe materials: copper and plastic (polyethylene, PE). The formation of biofilms with time was analysed as the number of total bacteria, heterotrophic plate counts and the concentration of ATP in biofilms. At the end of the experiment (after 308 days), microbial community structure, viable biomass and gram-negative bacterial biomass were analysed via lipid biomarkers (phospholipid fatty acids and lipopolysaccharide 3-hydroxy fatty acids), and the numbers of virus-like particles and total bacteria were enumerated by SYBR Green I staining. The formation of biofilm was slower in copper pipes than in the PE pipes, but after 200 days there was no difference in microbial numbers between the pipe materials. Copper ion led to lower microbial numbers in water during the first 200 days, but thereafter there were no differences between the two pipe materials. The number of virus-like particles was lower in biofilms and in outlet water from the copper pipes than PE pipes. Pipe material influenced also the microbial and gram-negative bacterial community structure in biofilms and water.  相似文献

Ozonation is a disinfection technique commonly used in the treatment of drinking water. It destroys harmful microbes, but it also degrades organic matter in water, increasing the bioavailability of organic matter. Recently, it was found that not only organic carbon but also phosphorus can limit the microbial growth in drinking water, which contains high amount of organic matter. We used a bioassay to analyze whether ozone could also increase the microbially available phosphorus (MAP) in drinking water, and whether MAP in ozone-treated water was associated with the growth of heterotrophic microbes. We found that both assimilable organic carbon and MAP concentrations were increased by ozone treatment. In ozonated water, microbial growth was mainly limited by phosphorus, and even minor changes in MAP concentration dramatically increased the growth potential of heterotrophic microbes. In this study, ozonation increased the MAP by 0.08-0.73 microgram P/l, resulting in an increase of 80,000-730,000 CFU/ml in water samples. In contrast to MAP, the content of assimilable organic carbon (AOCpotential) did not correlate with microbial growth. The results show that in water treatment not only AOCpotential but also MAP should be considered as an important factor that can limit microbial growth in drinking water.  相似文献

Differential evolution has become one of the most widely used evolutionary algorithms in multiobjective optimization. Its linear mutation operator is a simple and powerful mechanism to generate trial vectors. However, the performance of the mutation operator can be improved by including a nonlinear part. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid mutation operator consisting of a polynomial-based operator with nonlinear curve tracking capabilities and the differential evolution’s original mutation operator, for the efficient handling of various interdependencies between decision variables. The resulting hybrid operator is straightforward to implement and can be used within most evolutionary algorithms. Particularly, it can be used as a replacement in all algorithms utilizing the original mutation operator of differential evolution. We demonstrate how the new hybrid operator can be used by incorporating it into MOEA/D, a winning evolutionary multiobjective algorithm in a recent competition. The usefulness of the hybrid operator is demonstrated with extensive numerical experiments showing improvements in performance compared with the previous state of the art.  相似文献
