Current trends in cellular telecommunications suggest the incorporation of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) as supplementary access technologies into the existing cellular infrastructure. Overlay network architectures are expected to improve both service provision and resource utilization under the condition that sophisticated architectural options are followed. Many proposals suggest that all active connections be handled through the same access network technology. However, this is not believed to be efficient in a heterogeneous environment. Therefore, a mechanism that allows each connection of a terminal to be served by different radio access technology is introduced. Based on a tight coupling architecture for interworking between Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and WLANs, the proposed scheme combines a sophisticated decision mechanism with flexible connection management in a way that ensures seamless service continuity during handover. The performance of the system is evaluated using a detailed simulation model and compared against existing architectures. Simulation results indicate an improvement in parameters such as connection and handover blocking probabilities, which justifies the enhancement in the overall usage of network resources when connections are handled separately.  相似文献

A mathematical model is developed for calculating linear sloshing effects in the dynamic response of horizontal-cylindrical and spherical liquid containers under external excitation, with emphasis on earthquake excitation. The velocity potential is expressed in a series form, where each term is the product of a time function and the associated spatial function. Because of the configuration of the containers, the associated spatial functions are nonorthogonal and the problem is not separable, resulting in a system of coupled nonhomogeneous ordinary linear differential equations of motion. The solution can be obtained through either direct integration or modal analysis. Particular emphasis is given on the rate of convergence of the solution. The cases of half-full cylinders and spheres are examined in detail, where explicit expressions for the coefficients of the governing equations are derived. Using the proposed methodology, sloshing frequencies and masses are calculated rigorously for arbitrary liquid height of horizontal-cylindrical or spherical containers, and the response under two characteristic seismic events is obtained. The results describe the linear dynamic response of such containers and can be used for an efficient seismic analysis and design of industrial pressure vessels.  相似文献

Attribution of specific roles to the two ubiquitously expressed PI 3-kinase (PI3K) isoforms p110α and p110β in biological functions they have been implicated, such as in insulin signalling, has been challenging. While p110α has been demonstrated to be the principal isoform activated downstream of the insulin receptor, several studies have provided evidence for a role of p110β. Here we have used isoform-selective inhibitors to estimate the relative contribution of each of these isoforms in insulin signalling in adipocytes, which are a cell type with essential roles in regulation of metabolism at the systemic level. Consistent with previous genetic and pharmacological studies, we found that p110α is the principal isoform activated downstream of the insulin receptor under physiological conditions. p110α interaction with Ras enhanced the strength of p110α activation by insulin. However, this interaction did not account for the selectivity for p110α over p110β in insulin signalling. We also demonstrate that p110α is the principal isoform activated downstream of the β-adrenergic receptor (β-AR), another important signalling pathway in metabolic regulation, through a mechanism involving activation of the cAMP effector molecule EPAC1. This study offers further insights in the role of PI3K isoforms in the regulation of energy metabolism with implications for the therapeutic application of selective inhibitors of these isoforms.  相似文献

Computer vision can lead toward more sustainable agricultural production by enabling robotic precision agriculture. Vision-equipped robots are being deployed in the fields to take care of crops and control weeds. However, publicly available agricultural datasets containing both image data as well as data from navigational robot sensors are scarce. Our real-world dataset RumexWeeds targets the detection of the grassland weeds: Rumex obtusifolius L. and Rumex crispus L. RumexWeeds includes whole image sequences instead of individual static images, which is rare for computer vision image datasets, yet crucial for robotic applications. It allows for more robust object detection, incorporating temporal aspects and considering different viewpoints of the same object. Furthermore, RumexWeeds includes data from additional navigational robot sensors—GNSS, IMU and odometry—which can increase robustness, when additionally fed to detection models. In total the dataset includes 5510 images with 15,519 manual bounding box annotations collected at three different farms and four different days in summer and autumn 2021. Additionally, RumexWeeds includes a subset of 340 ground truth pixels-wise annotations. The dataset is publicly available at https://dtu-pas.github.io/RumexWeeds/ . In this paper we also use RumexWeeds to provide baseline weed detection results considering a state-of-the-art object detector; in this way we are elucidating interesting characteristics of the dataset.  相似文献
