Capillary gas liquid chromatography analyses were conducted on free and esterified sterol fractions of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum cv. Stoneville 213) floral buds and anthers. The free sterols of both cotton buds and anthers consist mainly of the common plant sterols sitosterol, stigmasterol and 24ζ-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol. The composition of esterified sterols of cotton buds and anthers were similar, and consisted of pollinastanol, 31-norcycloartanol, cycloartenol, 31-norcycloartenol, 24-dehydropolinastanol and sitosterol. Desmosterol was also present in both the free and esterified sterols of anthers. The identities of the sterols were confirmed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analyses. Esterified sterols accounted for 46.7 and 88.7% of total sterols of cotton bud and anthers, respectively. The ratio of esterified sterol to free sterol per gram of tissue is about 8∶1 in anthers. The Δ5-sterols of the esterified sterols of cotton buds and anthers account for only 17 and 9.2% of the total sterols, respectively.  相似文献

A predicted three-dimensional structure of the two N-terminalextracellular domains of human CD4 antigen, a cell surface glycoprotein,is reported. This region of CD4, particularly the first domain,has been identified as containing the binding region for theenvelope gp120 protein of the human immuno-deficiency virus.The model was predicted based on the sequence homology of eachdomain with the variable light chain of immunoglobulins. Theframework ß-sheet regions were taken from the crystalcoordinates of REI. For one region in the first domain of CD4there was an ambiguity in the alignment with REI and two alternatemodels are presented. Loops connecting the framework were modeledfrom fragments selected from a database of main chain coordinatesfrom all known protein structures. Residues identified as involvedin binding gp120 have been located in several other studieswithin the first domain of CD4. Epitopes from eight monoclonalantibodies have been mapped onto residues in both domains. Competitionof these antibodies with each other and with gp120 can be interpretedfrom the structural model.  相似文献

The application of combined g.c.-m.s. with automated data processing to the rapid analysis of coal solvents has been described. An analytical method, using commercially available data processing routines, has been developed for the automatic quantitative analysis of specific aromatic and hydroaromatic compounds in coal processing solvents. To demonstrate the use of this technique, raw anthracene oil was hydrogenated under different conditions and the resulting hydrogenated anthracene oils were analysed. The results showed correlations between the hydrogen content and the absolute concentrations of specific compounds in the samples.  相似文献

The purpose of this work was to examine the possible significance in the formation of metallurgical coke of the anisotropic spherical mesophase exemplified by that found during the carbonization of pitch-like materials, and to ascertain if the various types of optical anisotropy found in coke could form a basis for the characterization of cokes produced from different coals. Vitrains from a wide range of coals were carbonized at temperatures from 370 to 1000 °C and the types and amounts of optical anisotropy in the resulting semi-cokes and cokes were determined from microscopic examination, the anisotropic components being classified according to grain size of the granular mosaics and appearance. The anisotropy developed directly from the isotropic phase, appearing initially as a fine-grained mosaic. With increasing carbonization temperature, this fine-grained mosaic was transformed into progressively coarser-grained anisotropy, the extent of this transformation depending on the rank of the vitrain. It is therefore concluded that the formation, growth and coalescence of anisotropic spherical bodies, such as occurs during the carbonization of pitch, is not a necessary precursor of the mosaic anisotropy in coke. The type and amount of anisotropy developed provide a quantitative means of characterising different cokes.  相似文献

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) PS304 coating is a plasma spray deposited tribological coating with feedstock composed of NiCr, Cr2O3, Ag and BaF2-CaF2 powders. The effects of rounded BaF2-CaF2 particles on the gravity-fed flow characteristics of PS304 feedstock have been investigated. The BaF2-CaF2 powder was fabricated by water atomization using four sets of process parameters. Each of these powders was then characterized by microscopy and classified by screening to obtain 45-106 μm particles and added incrementally from 0-10 wt.% to the other constituents of the PS304 feedstock, namely nichrome, chromia and silver powders. The relationship between feedstock flow rate, measured with the Hall flowmeter, and concentration of fluorides was found to be linear in each case. The slopes of the lines were between those of the linear relationships previously reported using angular and spherical fluorides and were closer to the relationship predicted using the rule of mixtures. The results offer a fluoride fabrication technique potentially more cost-effective than gas atomization processes or traditional comminution processes.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider parameter estimation Markov-modulated Poisson processes via robust filtering and smoothing techniques. Using the expectation maximization algorithm framework, our filters and smoothers can be applied to estimate the parameters of our model in either an online configuration or an offline configuration. Further, our estimator dynamics do not involve stochastic integrals and our new formulas, in terms of time integrals, are easily discretized, and are written in numerically stable forms in W. P. Malcolm, R. J. Elliott, and J. van der Hoek, “On the numerical stability of time-discretized state estimation via clark transformations,” presented at the IEEE Conf. Response characteristics of a microcantilever, such as resonant frequency, amplitude, phase and quality factor, can be used for absolute pressure measurements in the range of 10−4 to 103 Torr. To this end, it would be very convenient to have the resonance of the microcantilever actuated and detected electrostatically. Herein, we report the nonlinear dynamics of microcantilevers under varying pressure and different gases using the harmonic detection of resonance (HDR) technique [J. Gaillard, M.J. Skove, R. Ciocan, A.M. Rao, Electrical detection of oscillations in 340 microcantilevers and nanocantilevers, Rev. Sci. Instrum. 77 (2006) 073907]. The HDR technique exploits nonlinearities in the cantilever-counter electrode system to allow electrostatic actuation and detection of the responses of the microcantilever to the pressure and gas composition. In particular, the 2nd and 3rd harmonics of the measured charge on the cantilever are investigated. The microcantilever demonstrates a quality factor of 10,000 at 10−3 Torr, and a usable response in the range from 10−3 to 103 Torr. The use of different harmonics can enable us to adjust the range of pressures over which the sensor has an efficacious response, enhancing its sensitivity to a particular environment. The experimental results are in reasonable agreement with theoretical calculations, despite the nonlinearities involved.  相似文献

A conductive engineered cardiac patch (ECP) can reconstruct the biomimetic regenerative microenvironment of an infarcted myocardium. Direct ink writing (DIW) and 3D printing can produce an ECP with precisely controlled microarchitectures. However, developing a printed ECP with high conductivity and flexibility for gapless attachment to conform to epicardial geometry remains a challenge. Herein, an asymmetrical DIW hydrophobic/hydrophilic membrane using heat-processed graphene oxide (GO) ink is developed. The “Masked spin coating” method is also developed that leads to a microscale GO (hydrophilic)/reduced GO (rGO, hydrophobic) physiological sensor, as well as a macroscale moisture-driven GO/rGO actuator. Depositing mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) coating on the one side of the DIW rGO , the ultrathin (approximately 500 nm) PDA-rGO (hydrophilic)/rGO (hydrophobic) microlattice (DrGOM) ECP is bestowed with the flexibility and moisture-responsive actuation that allows gapless attachment to the curved surface of the epicardium. Conformable DrGOM exhibits a promising therapeutic effect on rats' infarcted hearts through conductive microenvironment reconstruction and improved neovascularization.  相似文献

This paper proposes a rule-based motion planning system for agent-based crowd simulation, consisting of sets of rules for both collision avoidance and collision response. In order to avoid an oncoming collision, a set of rules for velocity sampling and evaluation is proposed, which aims to choose a velocity with an expected time to collision larger than a predefined threshold. In order to improve the efficiency over existing methods, the sampling procedure terminates upon finding an appropriate velocity. Moreover, the proposed motion planning system does not guarantee a collision-free movement. In case of collision, another set of rules is also defined to direct the agent to make a corresponding response. The experiment results show that the proposed approach can be applied in different scenarios, while making the simulation execution efficient.  相似文献
