This paper describes the synthesis of three triaryldiamine derivatives presenting two thermally polymerizable trifluorovinyl ether groups that can be polymerized through thermal curing to form perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) polymers. These PFCB polymers, studied using time-of-flight techniques for the first time, exhibited remarkable non-dispersive hole-transport properties, with values of μh of ca. 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1. When we employed these thermally polymerized polymers as hole-transport layers (HTLs) in electroluminescence devices containing tris(8-hydroxyquinolate) aluminum (Alq3) as the emission layer, we obtained high current densities (ca. 3400 mA cm?2), impressive brightnesses (5 × 104 cd m?2), and high external quantum efficiencies (EQEs = 1.43%). These devices exhibited the same turn-on voltage, but higher EQEs, relative to those incorporating the vacuum-processed model compound N,N′-di(1-naphthyl)-N,N′-diphenylbenzidine (α-NPD) (EQE = 1.37%) as the HTL under the same device structure.  相似文献

Pt/SiO2 model catalyst samples, prepared under UHV conditions in a contiguous high pressure reactor cell surface analysis chamber, have been characterized via CO oxidation reaction kinetics under elevated pressure conditions (approaching 1 atm). Reaction kinetics are studied as a function of Pt coverage (θ Pt = 1–10 mL), along with measurements on a Pt(110) single crystal for direct comparison. CO desorption measurements and STM measurements on Pt/SiO2 films at T = 300 K have been obtained at various θ Pt. Kinetic results show agreement between observations on single crystal and catalyst samples, and general agreement and correlation is obtained for site calculations across the various methods. Results demonstrate the utility of well characterized model catalyst samples in obtaining qualitative and quantitative reactivity data at elevated pressures.  相似文献

This work explores the performance of a multiple-input multiple-output broadcast channel where both the transmitter and receivers have outdated channel knowledge due to node motion or other time-variations in the communication channel. A performance analysis based on measured channel responses reveals significant throughput degradation for optimal linear and nonlinear precoding strategies unless the channel state information (CSI) is frequently fed back to the transmitter. The paper then develops a linear beamforming precoding strategy based on channel distribution information in the form of a full spatial correlation matrix for each user. This algorithm is shown to provide highly stable communication, with a throughput that is higher than that for optimal precoders operating on outdated CSI, in a time-variant environment, indicating that this approach can operate with significantly reduced feedback frequency. Furthermore, the paper demonstrates the use of the well-known Kronecker and Weichselberger models to parameterize the full correlation matrix to enable further reduction in the amount of feedback data required for implementation of the new beamforming technique.  相似文献

The idea of combining photovoltaic and solar thermal collectors (PVT collectors) to provide electrical and heat energy is an area that has, until recently, received only limited attention. Although PVTs are not as prevalent as solar thermal systems, the integration of photovoltaic and solar thermal collectors into the walls or roofing structure of a building could provide greater opportunity for the use of renewable solar energy technologies. In this study, the design of a novel building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPVT) solar collector was theoretically analysed through the use of a modified Hottel-Whillier model and was validated with experimental data from testing on a prototype BIPVT collector.The results showed that key design parameters such as the fin efficiency, the thermal conductivity between the PV cells and their supporting structure, and the lamination method had a significant influence on both the electrical and thermal efficiency of the BIPVT. Furthermore, it was shown that the BIPVT could be made of lower cost materials, such as pre-coated colour steel, without significant decreases in efficiency.Finally, it was shown that by integrating the BIPVT into the building rather than onto the building could result in a lower cost system. This was illustrated by the finding that insulating the rear of the BIPVT may be unnecessary when it is integrated into a roof above an enclosed air filled attic, as this air space acts as a passive insulating barrier.  相似文献

We study the effects of carbon tax and revenue recycling across the income distribution in the Republic of Ireland. In absolute terms, a carbon tax of €20/tCO2 would cost the poorest households less than €3/week and the richest households more than €4/week. A carbon tax is regressive, therefore. However, if the tax revenue is used to increase social benefits and tax credits, households across the income distribution can be made better off without exhausting the total carbon tax revenue.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of semen diluent on calving rate (CR) following artificial insemination with liquid bull semen stored for up to 3 d postcollection. In experiment 1, the effect of storing liquid semen maintained at a constant ambient temperature in 1 of 7 different diluents [Caprogen (homemade), OptiXcell, BioXcell, BullXcell, INRA96, NutriXcell, or AndroMed (all commercially available)] on total and progressive motility was assessed on d 0, 1, 2, and 3 postcollection. In experiment 2, the field fertility of liquid semen diluted in Caprogen, BioXcell, or INRA96 and inseminated on d 1, 2, or 3 postcollection was assessed in comparison to frozen-thawed semen (total of n = 19,126 inseminations). In experiment 3, the effect of storage temperature fluctuations (4 and 18°C) on total and progressive motility following dilution in Caprogen, BioXcell, and INRA96 was assessed on d 0, 1, 2, and 3 postcollection. In experiment 1, semen stored in Caprogen, BioXcell, and INRA96 resulted in the highest total and progressive motility on d 1, 2, and 3 of storage compared with OptiXcell, BullXcell, NutriXcell, and AndroMed. In experiment 2, an effect of diluent on CR was found as semen diluted in BioXcell had a lower CR on d 1, 2, and 3 of storage (46.3, 35.4, and 34.0%, respectively) in comparison with Caprogen (55.8, 52.0, and 51.9%, respectively), INRA96 (55.0, 55.1, and 52.2%, respectively), and frozen-thawed semen (59.7%). Effects were found of parity, cow fertility sub-index, as well as the number of days in milk on CR. In experiment 3, when the storage temperature of diluted semen fluctuated between 4 and 18°C, to mimic what occurs in the field (nighttime vs. daytime), BioXcell had the lowest total and progressive motility in comparison to Caprogen and INRA96. In conclusion, diluent significantly affected sperm motility when stored for up to 3 d. Semen diluted in INRA96 resulted in a similar CR to semen diluted in Caprogen and to frozen-thawed semen, whereas that diluted in BioXcell resulted in a decreased CR. Consistent with this finding, semen diluted in BioXcell was less tolerant of temperature fluctuations than that stored in Caprogen or INRA96. Given that it can be used directly off the shelf, INRA96 may be a suitable alternative to Caprogen for the storage of liquid bull semen.  相似文献

We report the effects of 2-nitro-1-propanol (2NPOH), 2-nitroethanol (2NEOH), and nitroethane (NE) on growth and survivability of Listeria monocytogenes. In all cases, inhibition was greatest with 2NPOH and least with NE. For example, specific growth rates of L. monocytogenes strain 18 declined (P < 0.05) 76, 60, and 29% from controls during aerobic culture at 37 degrees C in brain heart infusion broth containing 10 mM 2NPOH, 2NEOH, or NE, respectively. Mean specific growth rate for the controls incubated likewise without added nitrocompound was 0.62 +/- 0.02 h(-1). Specific growth rates of L. monocytogenes Scott A decreased (P < 0.05) 67, 45, and 11%, respectively, from controls (0.67 +/- 0.02 h(-1)) when cultured similarly. Specific growth rates for L. monocytogenes strain 18 incubated similarly except at 30 degrees C were reduced (P < 0.05) 76, 60, and 30%, respectively, and were reduced (P < 0.05) 78, 23, and 23% during anaerobic culture at 30 degrees C in brain heart infusion broth containing 15 mM 2NPOH, 2NEOH, or NE (control rates ranged from 0.37 +/- 0.07 to 0.74 +/- 0.05 h(-1)). Survivability of L. monocytogenes strain 18 was reduced (P < 0.05) during aerobic storage (4 months at 4 degrees C) in brain heart infusion broth containing 2NPOH or 2NEOH (by 7.8 and 1.9 log units, respectively) but not NE. The inhibitory effect of 2NPOH was approximately 20% greater during growth at pH 7.0 than at pH 5.6 or 8.0. These results demonstrate the differential inhibitory activity of 2NPOH, 2NEOH, and NE against L. monocytogenes in vitro.  相似文献

To better understand the transmission and epidemiology of human listeriosis, 647 Listeria monocytogenes isolates obtained from human listeriosis cases in four U.S. locations (Michigan, Ohio, New York State, and New York City) over 61 months (1998 to 2003) were characterized by automated EcoRI ribotyping. A total of 65 ribotypes were differentiated among the characterized isolates; 393, 227, and 24 isolates were classified into lineages I, II, and III, respectively, and 3 isolates were not classified to lineage. The three most common ribotypes (responsible for 39% of all cases) represented L. monocytogenes epidemic clones, each of which had previously been linked to at least two human listeriosis outbreaks. Categorical analyses revealed that ribotypes and lineages were nonrandomly distributed among the four locations. Temporal cluster analysis of cases identified 13 statistically significant temporal subtype clusters, which represented 26% of all cases. Three of these clusters matched previously described human listeriosis outbreaks. Isolates involved in clusters belonged to nine ribotypes. Four, eight, and one cluster were caused by lineages I, II, and III, respectively. The two largest clusters were both caused by the epidemic clone representing ribotype DUP-1044A. Categorical analyses revealed no significant associations between lineage or ribotype and clinical manifestation (central nervous system infection, septicemia, fetal infection, or other infection) or disease outcome (fatal or not fatal). Although human listeriosis cases are caused by isolates belonging to a diversity of EcoRI ribotypes, specific lineage I epidemic clones cause a large number of human listeriosis cases. Many human listeriosis cases can be grouped into statistically significant temporal clusters, including widely distributed and region-specific clusters associated with isolates of various ribotypes. L. monocytogenes lineages and EcoRI ribotypes do not appear to differ in their likelihood of causing different clinical manifestations or mortality.  相似文献
