A high surface area and non-microporous submicrometer-sized β-SiC material was successfully obtained according to the Shape Memory Synthesis (SMS) method. The attack by SiO vapors of a nanodiamond preform with sp3-bound carbon, at 1200–1300 °C under dynamic vacuum, formed β-SiC nanoparticles by carboreduction of the SiO vapors. These β-SiC nanoparticles had a mean size distribution centered at 10 nm and a specific surface area of 140 m2/g. The high carbon to carbide conversion obtained and the location of the remaining unreacted carbon in the core of the β-SiC nanoparticles allowed a direct use of the material as a catalyst support without any stabilizing post-synthesis oxidative treatment. The material showed dispersive properties and a good resistance towards oxidation, due to the presence of a thick and partially oxidized protecting amorphous coating, preventing from the extensive oxidation of SiC into silica.  相似文献

In this paper we describe the collection and organization of the speaker recognition database in Indian scenario named as IITG Multivariability Speaker Recognition Database. The database contains speech from 451 speakers speaking English and other Indian languages both in conversational and read speech styles recorded using various sensors in parallel under different environmental conditions. The database is organized into four phases on the basis of different conditions employed for the recording. The results of the initial studies conducted on a speaker verification system exploring the impact of mismatch in training and test conditions using the collected data are also included. In this paper, we present a comparative analysis of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) for design of voice conversion system using line spectral frequencies (LSFs) as feature vectors. Both the ANN and GMM based models are explored to capture nonlinear mapping functions for modifying the vocal tract characteristics of a source speaker according to a desired target speaker. The LSFs are used to represent the vocal tract transfer function of a particular speaker. Mapping of the intonation patterns (pitch contour) is carried out using a codebook based model at segmental level. The energy profile of the signal is modified using a fixed scaling factor defined between the source and target speakers at the segmental level. Two different methods for residual modification such as residual copying and residual selection methods are used to generate the target residual signal. The performance of ANN and GMM based voice conversion (VC) system are conducted using subjective and objective measures. The results indicate that the proposed ANN-based model using LSFs feature set may be used as an alternative to state-of-the-art GMM-based models used to design a voice conversion system.  相似文献

Energy efficiency for gas liquid mixing in a modified downflow bubble column reactor has been analyzed in this paper. Efficiencies of the different parts of the bubble column have been assessed on the basis of energy dissipation. Prediction of the energy dissipation coefficient as well as energy utilization efficiency due to gas‐liquid mixing as a function of different physical, geometric and dynamic variables of the system has been done by correlation method. The distribution of energy utilization in the different zones of the column has also been analyzed. Experiments were carried out with air‐water and air‐aqueous solutions of carboxy methyl cellulose with different concentrations.  相似文献

Zeolite Li-BEA and Na-BEA with Si/Al = 3–4 were synthesized by alumination and ion exchange, then characterized by XRD, TG–DSC and NMR. The enthalpies of formation and dehydration of Li and Na ion exchanged zeolite beta are investigated by high temperature oxide melt solution calorimetry. For Li-BEA, the formation enthalpies of formation from oxides at 25 °C are 25.6 ± 1.7 kJ/mol TO2 for the dehydrated zeolite and −8.45 ± 0.94 kJ/mol TO2 for the fully hydrated zeolite; for Na-BEA they are −2.4 ± 0.6 kJ/mol TO2 for the dehydrated and −17.8 ± 1.0 kJ/mol TO2 for the fully hydrated zeolite. The integral dehydration enthalpy at 25 °C is 33.2 ± 1.8 kJ/mol H2O for Li-BEA and 16.5 ± 1.1 kJ/mol H2O for Na-BEA. The partial molar dehydration enthalpies of both Li-BEA and Na-BEA are a linear function of water content. Molecular mechanics simulations explore the cation and water molecule positions in the framework at several water contents.  相似文献

Spatiotemporal deformations of the free charged surface of a thin electrolyte film undergoing a coupled electrokinetic flow composed of an electroosmotic flow (EOF) on a charged solid substrate and an electrophoretic flow (EPF) at its free surface are explored through linear stability analysis and the long-wave nonlinear simulations. The nonlinear evolution equation for the deforming surface is derived by considering both the Maxwell’s stresses and the hydrodynamic stresses. The electric potential across the film is obtained from the Poisson–Boltzmann equation under the Debye–Hückel approximation. The simulations show that at the charged electrolyte–air interface, the applied electric field generates an EPF similar to that of a large charged particle. The EOF near the solid–electrolyte interface and the EPF at the electrolyte–air interface are in the same (or opposite) directions when the zeta potentials at the two interfaces are of the opposite (or same) signs. The linear and nonlinear analyses of the evolution equation predict the presence of travelling waves, which is strongly modulated by the applied electric field and the magnitude/sign of the interface zeta potentials. The time and length scales of the unstable modes reduce as the sign of zeta potential at the two interfaces is varied from being opposite to same and also with the increasing applied electric field. The increased destabilization is caused by a reverse EPF near the free surface when the interfaces bear the same sign of zeta potentials. Flow reversal by EPF at the free surface occurs at smaller zeta potential of the free surface when the film is thicker because of less influence of the EOF arising at the solid–electrolyte boundary. The amplitude of the surface waves is found to be smaller when the unstable waves travel at a faster speed. The films can undergo pseudo-dewetting when the free surface is almost stationary under the combined influences of EPF and EOF. The free surface instability of the coupled EOF and EPF has some interesting implications in the development of micro/nano fluidic devices involving a free surface.  相似文献

Adaptation is a desirable requirement in a distributed system as it helps the system to perform efficiently under different environments. For many problems, more than one protocol exists, such that one protocol performs better in one environment while the other performs better in another. In such cases, adaptive distributed systems can be designed by dynamically switching between the protocols as the environment changes. Distributed protocol switching is also important for performance enhancement, or fault-tolerance of a distributed system. In this work, we illustrate distributed protocol switching by providing a distributed algorithm for adaptive broadcast that dynamically switches from a BFS tree to a DFS tree. The proposed switching algorithm can also handle arbitrary crash failures. It ensures that switching eventually terminates in spite of failures and the desired tree (DFS tree) results as the output. We also investigate the properties that can be guaranteed on the delivery of broadcast messages under specific failure conditions. We show that under no failure, each broadcast message is eventually correctly delivered to all the nodes in spite of switching. Under arbitrary crash fault, we ensure that switching eventually terminates with the desired tree as the broadcast topology. We also investigate the specific delivery guarantees that can be provided when a single crash fault happens, both during switching and when no switching is in progress.  相似文献
