It is proposed and demonstrated a design of 2-to-1 photonic data selector based on the cross-phase modulation in a highly nonlinear fiber. By using bidirectional configuration, this scheme has potentially advantages of cost effective and simple structure. The correct output logic function is obtained at 40 Gbit/s without using any additional input light beams. In addition, the output signals have a single spectrum component by reasonable selecting input signals wavelength, which is important for transmission and scalability. The dependences of performances on signal wavelength, pump power, the temporal relative position of pulses, as well as the OSNR and chirp of input signals are calculated and discussed respectively, showing impressive operation performance. This scheme could be a promising candidate for future ultrafast all-optical signal processing applications. 相似文献

A new general analysis for mode-locked operation of a homogeneously broadened laser with either internal phase (FM) or amplitude (AM) modulation is presented in this paper. In this analysis, a complex Gaussian pulse is followed through one pass around the laser cavity. Approximations are made to the line shape and modulation characteristics to keep the pulse Gaussian. After one round trip, a self-consistent solution is required. This yields simple analytic expressions for the pulse length, frequency chirp, and bandwidth of the mode-locked pulses. The analysis is further extended to include effects of detuning of the modulator, in which case analytical expressions are obtained for the phase shift of the pulse within the modulation cycle, the shift of the pulse spectrum off line center, the change in pulse length, and the change in power output. Numerical results for a typical Nd:YAG laser are given. In the case of the FM mode-locked laser it is found that there is a frequency chirp on the pulse and that this causes pulse compression and stretching when the modulator is detuned. Al0.26Ga0.74N/AlN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) structures with AlN interfacial layers of various thicknesses were grown on 100-mm-diameter sapphire substrates by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy, and their structural and electrical properties were characterized. A sample with an optimum AlN layer thickness of 1.0 nm showed a highly enhanced Hall mobility (μHall) of 1770 cm2/Vs with a low sheet resistance (ρs) of 365 Ω/sq. (2DEG density ns = 1.0 × 1013/cm2) at room temperature compared with those of a sample without the AlN interfacial layer (μHall = 1287 cm2/Vs, ρs = 539 Ω/sq., and ns = 0.9 × 1013/cm2). Electron transport properties in AlGaN/AlN/GaN structures were theoretically studied, and the calculated results indicated that the insertion of an AlN layer into the AlGaN/GaN heterointerface can significantly enhance the 2DEG mobility due to the reduction of alloy disorder scattering. HEMTs were successfully fabricated and characterized. It was confirmed that AlGaN/AlN/GaN HEMTs with the optimum AlN layer thickness show superior DC properties compared with conventional AlGaN/GaN HEMTs. 相似文献

The FM-laser or frequency-sweeping mode of laser oscillation has been demonstrated in a Nd :YAG 1.06-μ laser with an intracavity LiNbO3 phase modulator. The experimental results are in excellent agreement with the theoretical expressionDelta= (DeltaOmega/Deltanu) (delta/pi) where δ= peak single-pass phase retardation in the modulator,DeltaOmega = axial mode spacing,Deltanu =modulator detuning, and Δ=resulting FM index of the laser output. Modulation indices as large asDelta approx 230 rad have been obtained, in which case the instantaneous laser frequency is sweeping over a full spectral range of2Delta cdot f_{m} approx 120 GHz (≈ 4 cm-1) at a repetition frequencyf_{m} approx 260 MHz, with a time-bandwidth product per periodapprox 2Delta approx 460 . The coherently mode-locked spectral bandwidth thus obtained in the FM-laser case is very much wider than can be achieved in the pulsed mode-locked case with the same Nd:YAG laser. In this work, it is analyzed the uplink performance of MC-CDMA cellular systems in order to show that a MMSE multiuser detector can mitigate not only the own-cell interference, but also the co-cell interference. For the analysis, it is also considered a linear antenna array at the base station. The channel includes additive white Gaussian noise, exponential path-loss and slow frequency-selective Rayleigh fading. First, the interference in the cellular system is analyzed. Then, approximate expressions to evaluate the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) are derived. Also, expressions to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) both for BPSK and M-QAM modulations are obtained. Monte Carlo simulations verify the tightness of the expressions. The results show that when we include the co-cell interference statistics in the MMSE detector design, the effects of this interference can be mitigated. Also, it is observed that the system can be overloaded when the number of antennas in the array is increased while the mean BER maintains reasonable values. Finally, with an asymptotic analysis of the BER expressions, the BER reduction with the MMSE multiuser detector when compared with the zero-forcing multiuser detector is obtained. To solve the problem that the existing acoustic emission (AE) source location algorithms cannot always obtain accurate results for multilayer cylindrical media, a new acoustic emission source location method considering refraction was proposed. AE source coordinates were solved by the complex method. Pencil-lead-break experiments were used to verify this method. The absolute distance errors of location results are less than 3 mm, much less than those by the traditional method. The numerical experiments were used to further analyze factors that affect location accuracy. The results of numerical experiments show that the location accuracy of the proposed method is not affected by the ratio of wave velocities but affected by the measurement accuracy of wave velocity. These results show that new method can obtain accurate AE source location in the two-layered cylindrical surface media such as the triaxial compression test. 相似文献
