This paper presents the efforts of the Bureau of Quarantine and International Health Surveillance (BQIHS), Department of Health (DOH), Philippines to launch a Good Manufacturing Procedure (GMP)–Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification Program for food services operating in Philippine inter-island water vessels. The BQIHS improved its food sanitation audit system for inter-island ships by including in its traditional walk-through evaluation of GMP the review of documents for both GMP and HACCP, and the verification of HACCP implementation. The BQIHS is now identified as a GMP–HACCP certification provider to specific sectors of the local food service industry on a national level.  相似文献

Based on quantum chemistry and chemical kinetics, the paper formulates basically new concepts of the possibility of controlling biochemical reactions in biological tissues by simultaneously making abnormal human visceral foci, in cancer diseases in particular, exposed to two rays via radiation and optic laser radiations. The paper also presents experimental findings of the channeling of X-ray and fluxes of charged particles along the fiber wave guides. It considers the circuit engineering of a medical endoscopic device that concurrently transmits optic laser radiation and fluxes of penetrating radiation into the viscera.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Two recent much cited publications have raised the concern that risk associated with cigarette smoking has so far been underestimated. In this study we wish to determine whether excess all-cause mortality associated with smoking has increased during the last 20-30 years in a study population representative of the general Danish population and whether any such changes relate to changes in smoking behaviour. METHODS: Pooled data from three prospective population studies conducted in Copenhagen with detailed information on smoking habits. A total of 31,194 subjects, 17,669 males and 13,525 females, initially examined between 1964 and 1992 with examinations repeated at intervals from 1-10 years, were followed until 1995 for all-cause mortality. Relative mortality risk in smokers versus never-smokers was calculated within periods of five calendar years and compared throughout the study period. RESULTS: Male smokers' exposure did not change during the study period whereas female smokers' exposure to tobacco increased in terms of age at smoking onset, quantity smoked and depth of inhalation. During follow-up 5744 males and 2900 females died. In males, death rate ratios (comparing continuous smokers with never-smokers) did not change in the study period. In females, ratios increased from 1964-1978 to 1979-1994 by a factor of 1.3 (95% confidence interval 1.0-1.8). CONCLUSIONS: In agreement with the observed changes in smoking habits, excess mortality in male smokers did not increase whereas excess mortality in female smokers increased slightly.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the extent to which cigarette smokers who switch to cigars or pipes alter their risk of dying of three-smoking related diseases-lung cancer, ischaemic heart disease, and chronic obstructive lung disease. DESIGN: A prospective study of 21520 men aged 35-64 years when recruited in 1975-82 with detailed history of smoking and measurement of carboxyhaemoglobin. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Notification of deaths (to 1993) classified by cause. RESULTS: Pipe and cigar smokers who had switched from cigarettes over 20 years before entry to the study smoked less tobacco than cigarette smokers (8.1 g/day v 20 g/day), but they had the same consumption as pipe and cigar smokers who had never smoked cigarettes (8.1 g) and had higher carboxyhaemoglobin saturations (1.2% v 1.0%, P < 0.001), indicating that they inhaled tobacco smoke to a greater extent. They had a 51% higher risk of dying of the three smoking related diseases than pipe or cigar smokers who had never smoked cigarettes (relative risk 1.51; 95% confidence interval 0.96 to 2.38), a 68% higher risk than lifelong non-smokers (1.68; 1.16 to 2.45), a 57% higher risk than former cigarette smokers who gave up smoking over 20 years before entry (1.57; 1.04 to 2.38), and a 46% lower risk than continuing cigarette smokers (0.54; 0.38 to 0.77). CONCLUSION: Cigarette smokers who have difficulty in giving up smoking altogether are better off changing to cigars or pipes than continuing to smoke cigarettes. Much of the effect is due to the reduction in the quantity of tobacco smoked, and some is due to inhaling less. Men who switch do not, however, achieve the lower risk of pipe and cigar smokers who have never smoked cigarettes. All pipe and cigar smokers have a greater risk of lung cancer than lifelong non-smokers or former smokers.  相似文献

Graphitization heat treatment of a precursor carbon black was seen to effectively produce a wide variety of forms of partially graphitized nano-sized carbonaceous materials with a set of unique properties, some of which are reported in this paper in comparison with those properties of the precursor carbon material. These novel materials were given the name of PUREBLACK® Carbons.Among some of the unique properties are: higher conductivity than that of acetylene type carbon blacks due to PUREBLACK® Carbon's particles having more graphitic structure; very low to zero volatile content (external oxygen, sulfur, etc., groups, which are often believed to be the cause of initiation of self-discharge reactions in batteries); very low equilibrium moisture pickup (20 ppm level), which makes it particularly attractive in lithium metal or lithium-ion based electrochemical systems; high purity. Electrochemical testing of the newly proposed PUREBLACK® Carbons in several battery systems offers significant promise that it presents a viable solution to the needs of industry.  相似文献

A four parameter generalization of the Weibull distribution capable of modeling a bathtub-shaped hazard rate function is defined and studied. The beauty and importance of this distribution lies in its ability to model monotone as well as non-monotone failure rates, which are quite common in lifetime problems and reliability. The new distribution has a number of well-known lifetime special sub-models, such as the Weibull, extreme value, exponentiated Weibull, generalized Rayleigh and modified Weibull distributions, among others. We derive two infinite sum representations for its moments. The density of the order statistics is obtained. The method of maximum likelihood is used for estimating the model parameters. Also, the observed information matrix is obtained. Two applications are presented to illustrate the proposed distribution.  相似文献

In this work, we consider a cognitive radio system with multiple primary channels and one secondary user, and then we introduce a channel-usage pattern model and some basic concepts in this system. Based on this system model and the basic concepts, we propose two opportunistic channel selection algorithms to optimize the throughput of the secondary user: minimum collision rate channel selection algorithm and minimum handoff rate channel selection algorithm. According to the two algorithms, we, respectively, present the channel selection scheme based on minimum collision rate algorithm (CSS-MCRA) and the channel selection scheme based on minimum handoff rate algorithm (CSS-MHRA) under the constraint that the collision probability is bounded below collision tolerable level. Theoretical analysis and simulation results both show that, on one hand, both CSS-MCRA scheme and CSS-MHRA can follow the constraint of collision tolerable level; on the other hand, the performance of CSS-MCRA scheme is better than that of CSS-MHRA scheme if handoff latency is zero or very low, while the performance of CSS-MHRA scheme is better than that of CSS-MCRA scheme if handoff latency is long enough.  相似文献

This paper surveys fitness functions used in the field of evolutionary robotics (ER). Evolutionary robotics is a field of research that applies artificial evolution to generate control systems for autonomous robots. During evolution, robots attempt to perform a given task in a given environment. The controllers in the better performing robots are selected, altered and propagated to perform the task again in an iterative process that mimics some aspects of natural evolution. A key component of this process–one might argue, the key component–is the measurement of fitness in the evolving controllers. ER is one of a host of machine learning methods that rely on interaction with, and feedback from, a complex dynamic environment to drive synthesis of controllers for autonomous agents. These methods have the potential to lead to the development of robots that can adapt to uncharacterized environments and which may be able to perform tasks that human designers do not completely understand. In order to achieve this, issues regarding fitness evaluation must be addressed. In this paper we survey current ER research and focus on work that involved real robots. The surveyed research is organized according to the degree of a priori knowledge used to formulate the various fitness functions employed during evolution. The underlying motivation for this is to identify methods that allow the development of the greatest degree of novel control, while requiring the minimum amount of a priori task knowledge from the designer.  相似文献

Rough set theory (RS) has been a topic of general interest in the field of knowledge discovery and pattern recognition. Machine learning algorithms are known to degrade in performance when faced with many features (sometimes attributes) that are not necessary for rule discovery. Many methods for selecting a subset of features have been proposed. However, only one method cannot handle the complex system with many attributes or features, so a hybrid mechanism is proposed based on rough set integrating artificial neural network (Rough-ANN) for feature selection in pattern recognition. RS-based attributes reduction as the preprocessor can decrease the inputs of the NN and improve the speed of training. So the sensitivity of rough set to noise can be avoided and the system’s robustness is to be improved. A RS-based heuristic algorithm is proposed for feature selection. The approach can select an optimal subset of features quickly and effectively from a large database with a lot of features. Moreover, the validity of the proposed hybrid recognizer and solution is verified by the application of practical experiments and fault diagnosis in industrial process.  相似文献
