Design rules are an essential interface to facilitate the information exchange between designers and experts. Despite many innovations in Knowledge-Based Engineering and Knowledge Management, unstructured design rules documents are still widely used in the manufacturing industry. Due to the complexity of the design process, these documents often contain hundreds of design rules, applicable in varying design contexts. Searching for the right rules according to a design context is demanding in time and cognitive resources. In this paper, we propose a Context-Aware Cognitive Design Assistant (CACDA) to capture the design context and perform tasks such as the recommendation of design rules, the verification of design solutions, or the automation of design routines. Contrary to existing works in model quality testing, the CACDA uses a proactive approach of design rules application and helps designers to provide error-free designs on first attempt. In this paper, we present the design rules recommendation system of the CACDA, its capabilities and its implementation. Then, to measure the impact of design rules recommendations on the design process, we compare our approach with the use of traditional design rules documents. Results show that the use of the CACDA’s design rules recommendations lower the perceived difficulty of design rules retrieval from 75 to 43.5 on a scale of 100. On average, participants that used the demonstrator successfully applied 8.6 design rules on the 25 applicable design rules of our set. Participants that used unstructured documentation correctly applied 4.3 design rules. The global cognitive weight of the design activity as well as the design rules retrieval performances appear to be unchanged. These results demonstrate the usability of the demonstrator and show a positive impact on the design process and on the quality of CAD models. Future works will focus on the overcome of the main limitations of our current experiments, with a panel of professional designers, a lager design rules set and the implementation of several lacking features of the CACDA into the demonstrator.  相似文献

The model selection paradigm is one of the focused themes within decision science. This paper addresses the consistent solution of model selection issue on the basis of the fuzzy axiomatic design (FAD) methodology. Moreover, the developed FAD–based model selection interface (FAD–MSI) is performed over the critical ship management processes in order to assign suitable (multiple criteria decision-making) MCDM techniques even if commonly utilized hybrid approaches. The main purpose of this work is to show the ability of the TCS (task configuration system) to perform both the design and the operation optimization of power plants. The TCS is a module that permits to set the main task of each one of the equipments of the system and consequently setting how they respond to variable loads. In this work, the TCS was applied to a micro cogeneration plant of 60 kW in which both the electrical and the thermal loads were variable. Primarily, the design optimization of the nominal power of the equipments and of the TCS configuration was performed for the loads and electricity/fuel costs assumed in the design. After this operational optimizations in cases where the loads and electricity/fuel costs were doubled and then halved in relation to the standard case were performed. The results presented the TCS in a very robust way in most of the cases even the operational conditions being very different from the originally assumed. Based on the results, it is possible to defend the use of the TCS to decrease the risk of high initial investments made in cogeneration systems.  相似文献

Using low-cost nonprecious metals to replace Pt as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst is promising, but still limited by their efficiency and stability. Herein, with low-cost dicyandiamide and metal salts as precursor, FeCo alloy nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogenated carbon nanotubes (FeCo-NCNTs) were facially synthesized as efficient HER electrocatalyst. Addition of iron as second element, though not facilitating the formation of carbon nanotube, was utilized to improve the physicochemical properties of metals. Via optimizing the atomic molar ratios of Fe/Co nanoparticles, the optimal Fe0.4Co0.6-NCNTs with thin carbon shell (c.a. 5–10 layer) and equally distribution of embedded alloy nanoparticles was found with outstanding HER activity. To achieve a current density of 10 mA cm−2, only overpotential of 50 mV, 157 mV and 202 mV were needed in acidic (0.5 M H2SO4), alkaline (1 M KOH), and neutral solutions. Its higher electrochemically active surface areas and lower electron transfer resistance may contribute to the excellent electrocatalytic HER. Furthermore, the illustrated current density slightly changed over 20 h, suggesting excellent stability. Hence, the present method provides cost-effective, high efficiency, and stable materials in developing the sustainable energy conversion systems.  相似文献

Crowdsourcing the public’s perceptions of the built environment in real time enables more responsive and agile infrastructure and land use planning. Social media has emerged to be an effective platform for citizens, engineers, and planners to communicate opinions and feelings transparently. However, a comprehensive terminological resource of the perceived built environment (BE) for consistent data collection and a specified analytical framework are still lacking, particularly for different underutilized land issues. To fill this knowledge gap, we demonstrate a BE-specific term construction and expansion method specifically for collecting Twitter data and propose a Geo-Topic-Sentiment analytical framework for retrieving and analyzing relevant tweets. We conduct a demonstrative study on un(der)utilized land-related BE terms across ten metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. Findings reveal spatial variations in contents and sentiments about underutilized land environments, and more localized efforts may be required to address specific land use issues across different urban contexts. The research demonstrates Twitter as a useful platform in crowdsourcing perceived BE and sentiments at fine temporal and spatial scales in a timely manner. It contributes to engineering informatics by investigating the role of social media in environmental planning and proposing integrated domain-specific data analytic approaches for engineering practices.  相似文献

A simulation environment for the dynamic simulation of paper or board mills has been developed. APMS (advanced paper mill simulator) provides tools for fast and easy modelling of the plant comprising e.g. stock preparation, approach system, wet end and dry end of the machine. The models are based on the first principles of physics and chemistry whenever it is possible. This mechanistic modelling principle with efficient equation solution techniques ensures fast and accurate simulation for the purposes of process and automation design, analysis and operator training.  相似文献

The paper addresses the control of an automatic assembly process represented by the typical operation of peg-in-hole insertion. The control problem is to track a prespecified trajectory defined by the peg position and orientation relative to the hole location (nominal control). The problem is compounded by the assumption that misalignment and variation in system parameters may occur such that the nominal control must be complemented with a synthesis which regulates the perturbed stage of the system. The regulation is achieved using a robust servomechanism approach and a force feedback approach. The two approaches are illustrated using simulation results.  相似文献

为了选择一种既能消除近红外图像噪声又能达到保持其图像边缘要求的消噪方法,通过比较各种常见的图像去噪算法,采用信噪比(SNR)、均方根误差(RMSE)和图像灰度曲面图等作为图像去噪效果的评估.对实际拍摄的多幅近红外图像进行消噪效果对比,仿真实验结果表明:在综合考滤图像去噪平滑效果、图像清晰程度和时间复杂度的基础上,分形消噪法较优,可应用于近红外图像的消噪处理.  相似文献
