Fault handling in large water networks with online dictionary learning

Fault detection and isolation in water distribution networks is an active topic due to the nonlinearities of flow propagation and recent increases in data availability due to sensor deployment. Here, we propose an efficient two-step data driven alternative: first, we perform sensor placement taking the network topology into account; second, we use incoming sensor data to build a network model through online dictionary learning. Online learning is fast and allows tackling large networks as it processes small batches of signals at a time. This brings the benefit of continuous integration of new data into the existing network model, either in the beginning for training or in production when new data samples are gathered. The proposed algorithms show good performance in our simulations on both small and large-scale networks.

A new decomposition based evolutionary algorithm with uniform designs for many-objective optimization

For many-objective optimization problems, how to get a set of solutions with good convergence and diversity is a difficult and challenging work. In this paper, a new decomposition based evolutionary algorithm with uniform designs is proposed to achieve the goal. The proposed algorithm adopts the uniform design method to set the weight vectors which are uniformly distributed over the design space, and the size of the weight vectors neither increases nonlinearly with the number of objectives nor considers a formulaic setting. A crossover operator based on the uniform design method is constructed to enhance the search capacity of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, in order to improve the convergence performance of the algorithm, a sub-population strategy is used to optimize each sub-problem. Comparing with some efficient state-of-the-art algorithms, e.g., NSGAII-CE, MOEA/D and HypE, on six benchmark functions, the proposed algorithm is able to find a set of solutions with better diversity and convergence.     

Screening of frozen-thawed conditions for keeping nutritive compositions and physicochemical characteristics of goat milk

Frozen milk can help producers overcome the seasonality of goat milk production, low goat production and short lactation periods, and avoid discarding milk during some special periods. We investigated effects of combination between freezing (cryogenic refrigerator of ?16 to ?20°C or ultra-cryogenic refrigerator of ?76 to ?80°C) and thawing (homeothermy of 20 to 25°C or refrigeration of 2 to 4°C) on nutritive compositions and physicochemical characteristics of raw goat milk during storage period (80 d). Compared with fresh goat milk, the frozen-thawed milk decreased contents of fat, protein, and lactose, as well as surface tension and stability coefficient, whereas increased effective diameter and polydispersity index. The average values of color values (L*, a*, and b*) in 4 group samples changed from 83.01 to 82.25, ?1.40 to ?1.54, 3.51 to 3.81, respectively, and the ΔE of most samples did not exceed 2. In contrast to the other 3 frozen-thawed treatments, goat milk treated with ultra-cryogenic freezing-homeothermic thawing (UFHT) possessed higher fat (5.20 g/100 g), smaller effective particle diameter (0.32 µm), and the lowest polydispersity index value (0.26). The color and confocal laser scanning microscopy images of UFHT were similar to those of fresh goat milk, illustrating UFHT was the optimal approach to maintain the natural quality of goat milk. Our finding provides a theoretical basis for producers to freeze surplus milk.     

Three-dimensional crumpled graphene-based platinum–gold alloy nanoparticle composites as superior electrocatalysts for direct methanol fuel cells

High performance of electrocatalysts for direct methanol fuel cells was demonstrated by three-dimensional (3D) graphene (GR) decorated with platinum (Pt)–gold (Au) alloy nanoparticles (3D-GR/PtAu). The 3D-GR/PtAu composite with a morphology like a crumpled paper ball was synthesized from a colloidal mixture of GR and Pt–Au alloy nanoparticles with aerosol spray drying. The 3D-GR/PtAu had a high specific surface area and electrochemical surface area of up to 238 and 325 m²/g(Pt), respectively, and the electrocatalytic applications of the 3D-GR/PtAu were examined through methanol oxidation reactions. The 3D-GR/PtAu had the highest electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation reactions compared with commercial Pt–carbon black and Pt-GR. The 3D-GR/PtAu was also highly sensitive electrocatalytic activity in the methanol oxidation reaction compared with the 2D-GR/Pt–Au. Furthermore, the electrocatalytic activity of the 3D-GR/PtAu had the highest performance among the catalysts containing Pt, Au, and GR for the methanol oxidation reactions. The increased electrocatalytic activity is attributed to the high specific surface area of the 3D formation and the effective surface structure of the Pt–Au alloy nanoparticles.     

Structure,dielectric properties of novel Ba(Zr,Ti)O3 based ceramics for energy storage application

(1-x) Ba(Zr_0.2Ti_0.8)O₃-x Na_0.5Bi_0.5TiO₃ (x = 0, 10, 20 30, 40, 50 mol%) (BZTN) ceramics are prepared by the traditional solid phase method. All BZTN ceramics exhibit a pseudo-cubic BZT based perovskite structure. Both the average grain size and the relaxor ferroelectricity of BZTN ceramics gradually increase with increasing NBT content. The W_rec of 3.22 J/cm³ and η of 91.2% is obtained for the BZTN40 ceramic at 241 kV/cm. BZTN40 ceramic also exhibits good temperature stability from room temperature to 150 °C and frequency stability from 1 Hz to 100 Hz. A P_D of 0.621 J/cm³ and a t_0.9 of 82 ns is obtained for the BZTN40 ceramic at 120 kV/cm. BZTN ceramics show application potential in energy storage and pulse power capacitors.

Congruences and ideals in pseudoeffect algebras

This paper is devoted to congruences and ideals in pseudoeffect algebras. Let I be a normal ideal in a pseudoeffect algebra E. We show that: (1) the relation ~ _I induced by I is a congruence if and only if for every a∈E, I∩ [0,a] is upper directed; (2) the relation ~ _I induced by I is a strong congruence if and only if I is a normal weak Riesz ideal in a pseudoeffect algebra E. Moreover, we introduce a stronger concept of congruence—namely Riesz strong congruence—and we prove that, if I is a normal weak Riesz ideal in a pseudoeffect algebra E, then ~ _I is a Riesz strong congruence and, conversely, if ~ is a Riesz strong congruence, then I = [0]_~ is a normal weak Riesz ideal, and ~ _I = ~. 基于路由算法的无线传感器网络伪装研究

在研究如何通过无线传感器网络WSN有效获取信息的同时,如何确保敏感地区的信息不被WSN窃取也成为研究者关注的热点问题。基于WSN已有的路由算法,利用其开放的特点在敏感地区设置WSN伪装节点,并使其加入WSN节点的路由构建过程,伪装节点采用路由算法自适应伪装,通过修改数据报中的控制信息进而实现阻止WSN节点构建有效路由,并在最大程度上消耗WSN节点能量的目的。从WSN节点能耗速度和网络生命周期两方面验证了基于路由算法的WSN伪装的有效性。
