Facile route to fabricate large-scale silver microtubes

Large-scale uniform Ag microtubes with high length diameter ratios have been first successfully synthesized by a facile approach, using low-cost super fine glass fibers as templates. The samples were characterized by SEM and XRD. The investigations showed that calcining or adding of PEG-1000 and alcohol could greatly improve the mechanical strength of the sample. Especially the products exhibited favorable catalytic properties during the degradation of Rhodamine B by NaBH₄.     

A new method for producing high melt strength polypropylene with reactive extrusion

A high‐melt‐strength polypropylene (HMSPP) was prepared using a twin‐screw reactive extruder from a commercial isotactic polypropylene through two stages, first, maleic anhydride is grafted to polypropylene to obtain a maleic anhydride‐grafted polypropylene (PP‐g‐MA), and then the grafted polymer is reacted with epoxy to extend the branched chain. Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy indicated that maleic anhydride was grafted on polypropylene and reacted with epoxy. Melt flow rate and sag resistance test showed that the melt strength of the HMSPP improved considerably. Differential scanning calorimetry test showed that the long chain branches (LCBs) act as a nucleating agent in the crystallization of the HMSPP, which leads to a high crystallization temperature and crystallinity. The influence of Johnson–Cook material constants on finite element simulation of machining of AISI 316L steel

In literature, five different sets of work material constants used in the Johnson–Cook's (J–C) constitutive equation are implemented in a numerical model to describe the behaviour of AISI 316L steel. The aim of this research is to study the effects of five different sets of material constants of the J–C constitutive equation in finite-element modelling of orthogonal cutting of AISI 316L on the experimental and predicted cutting forces, chip morphology, temperature distributions and residual stresses. Several experimental equipments were used to estimate the experimental results, such as piezoelectric dynamometer for cutting forces measurements, thermal imaging system for temperature measurements and X-ray diffraction technique for residual stresses determination on the machined surfaces; while an elastic–viscoplastic FEM formulation was implemented to predict the local and global variables involved in this research. It has been observed that all the considered process output and, in particular the residual stresses are very sensitive to the J–C's material constants.     

由呼出气中的氡浓度估计铀矿工体内~(225)Ra的负荷量

本文测量了某铀矿不同工种的56名矿工下矿井作业前的呼出气中的~(222)Rn浓度,并由此估算了他们体内的~(226)Ra 负荷量。按不同工种的人数加权,呼出气中的~(222)Rn 浓度平均值为34.1Bqm~(-3),体内~(226)Ra 负荷量的均值为1.95kBq。同时还对9名休息了2天的和2名离开井下作业3—4年的矿工以及12名来下过矿井的本矿工人呼出气中氡浓度进行了测量,由此估算出其体内~(226)Ra 负荷量的均值分别为1.11、0.94和0.17kBq。     

The integral representations of solutions for circular plate problems without any hold

In this article, the following results are obtained: (1) a special solution and a general solution (non-series form) for circular plate problems are given; (2) integral representations of solutions for circular plate problems without any hold with built-in edge conditions and simply supported edge conditions are found.     

Use of perlite as a pozzolanic addition in producing blended cements

There are ∼6700 million tons of perlite reserves in the world and two thirds of this amount takes place in Turkey. Although perlite possesses pozzolanic properties, it has not been so far used in producing blended cements. This study focuses on the use of natural perlites in blended cement production. For this purpose, after examining the suitability of the perlites as pozzolans and their ease of grindability, 16 types of blended cements having 320 m²/kg or 370 m²/kg Blaine fineness were produced by using 20% or 30% perlite additions. Production of the blended cements were accomplished either by intergrinding or separate grinding. The performance of the cements was evaluated by conducting the following tests: particle size distribution by laser diffraction, normal consistency, setting time, soundness and compressive strength. The results showed that perlites possess sufficient pozzolanic characteristics to be used in production of blended cement.
