Finite-element analysis and experimental study on tensile fatigue behaviour of bitumen–stone adhesion

Tensile fatigue behaviours of bitumen–stone adhesion were investigated using a dynamic mechanics analyser under stress‐controlled mode at two temperatures of 5 and 25°C and various controlled‐stress levels. Failure characteristics including interfacial failure and cohesive failure were examined using image analysis of fracture surfaces. Finite‐element analysis on stress distributions was conducted under different temperatures, film thickness and interfacial bonding conditions. A Coulomb–Mohr like criterion in combination with shear and normal stresses is proposed to deal with the extreme thin adhesive layer, which can be further simplified into an adhesive zone without significant loss of accuracy for stress analysis.

AC Complex Impedance Analysis of Doped Strontium Titanate Multifunctional Ceramics

Doped SrTiO3 capacitor-varistor multifunctional ceramics were fabricated by a single sintering process.AC complex impedance analysis was performed to investigate electrical features of grains and grain boundaries for both as-reduced ceramic and reoxidized ceramics.The results showed that the as-reduced ceramic exhibited inductive response at high frequencies above 2MHz,which is attributed to the contribution of electron behavior in semiconducting grains.The high frequency inductive response disappeared in impedance plots of reoxidized ceramics.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Steel-fibre in Conerete Thick Cap

The effect of steel fibre used in concrete was systematically analyzed by model testing of 30 2-pile thick caps of steel-fibre reinforced concrete, in which the model scale was 1：5. The experiment system composed of a loading device, strain measurement system and a data-acquisition system was used, also an electromechanic centigrade scale, a lens and a Y J-25 static resistance strainometer were used.The experimental results show that the volumetric rate of steel fibre and draw ratio have an important influence on its load-bearing capacity. The incorporation of steel fibre can effectively improve the extension and reduce the thickness of the caps.     

Characterization of the evaluation of the solid solubility of Si in sintered Fe–Si alloys using DSC technique

Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) is used to quantify the solid solubility of Si in sintered Fe–Si alloys. The calorimetry tests are run on Fe–Si alloys by arc melting and sintering. The relationship between the Curie temperature and the solid solubility of Si in Fe–Si alloys was determined using DSC. The solid solubility of Si in sintered Fe–Si alloys evaluated according to the relationship between magnetic transition and compositions can be compared with the results from a related quantitative electron probe microanalysis (EPMA).
