This work describes a new control strategy for active energy flow in a hybrid photovoltaic (PV) system. The method introduces an online energy management by a hierarchical fuzzy controller between energy sources that consist of a photovoltaic panel (PVP), the battery and the load. The fuzzy logic controller has been developed for power splitting between PVP and battery, and it makes decision to choose the switching chain rules and corresponding controller. Simulation test results illustrate improvement in the operation's efficiency of online state of the switches and the battery's state of charge (SOC) has been maintained at a reasonable level. The trend in design of 300-mm wafer fabrication facilities is to seek means to bring about economies of scale. However, this may require trade-offs with various operational efficiencies. This research explores 10 alternative layout designs for a large 300-mm fabrication facility. These alternatives are the different combinations of independent and layer-based cellular design concepts, and are evaluated using a fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making method. A case study has been adopted for an empirical illustration. The results show that a megafab is not a preferred choice. The analysis concludes that a moderate-sized independent cell is a preferred design concept. The results provide fabrication facility management with guidelines for a future 300-mm layout design, which is the backbone of a cost-intensive 300-mm fabrication facility. A desalination plant – considered in two configurations (once-through and brine recirculation) – is modelled and controlled using a system of coupled PDEs that describe the desalination processes. The analysis is conducted in two separate parts. First, the operating point of the plant is obtained based on the deterministic process models of the plant. The steady-state distillate production is optimized with respect to a reference pressure head (operating point) that is achieved by applying relatively simple boundary controls. Both deterministic plant configurations are compared in term of characteristic numbers that evaluates the energy-efficient operation of the plant. In particular, those are the thermal ratio and the specific flow rate, where gains of roughly 5.5% and 21.5% are obtained in favour of the brine recirculation plant. The pressure head is subject to turbulence phenomena that disturb its surface so that a deterministic model is an insufficient representation of the real-case scenario. Concerning the second part of the paper, the effects of turbulence are incorporated through stochastic elements given as generalized and cylindrical Wiener processes located on the boundaries and throughout the plant (subdomain), respectively. The pressure head residual is defined as the difference between the deterministic and stochastic system. As both systems are actuated by the same type of boundary controls, the residual field is interpreted as a measure of a regulation error. It is statistical characterization is done spatially by means of the first four statistical moments (sampled) and temporarily with the autocorrelation function. It is found that the applied boundary controls are robust enough to keep the regulation error within tight bounds throughout the whole subdomain of the plant. In Spain, solar electricity (photovoltaic and thermoelectric) has reached a stable annual capacity factor above 20% since 2009; while wind achieved 23% since more than 10 years ago. This is the demonstration of an ongoing transition towards a more sustainable energy mix, further corroborated by the reduction of the capacity factor of gas-fired technology, which has seen a decline to values lower than 10% after an initial promising rise; this is a very low value for a fossil-fuel technology. Additionally, hydro installed capacity, which has been stable for the past 20 years, have demonstrated that can be used as a back-up power source in combination with solar and wind electricity, and it is capable of producing energy peaks that may increase from a stable base of 2000 GWh/month up to 6000 GWh/month and therefore meet demand at some particular times when solar and wind are generating less electricity without the need of installing new additional capacity at national level.  相似文献
