Precision equipment for symmetrical bending— Part 1. The loading system

The design and performance of precision bending equipment for testing straight beams with constant rectangular section under a pure bending moment is described. Part 1 deals with the loading arrangements and Part 2 with the rig for measuring beam deflection. The methods for recording deflection of strain gauges applied on the beam have been described elsewhere.^1–4
The reactions to the deadweight gravity loads are taken via ball bearings. The total bending moment inaccuracy, i.e. the sum of estimated systematic errors and random errors, the latter expressed as the 2Ga confidence interval about the mean (2G_cim), is about ± 25 x. 10^-4%, for 23 tests with a steel beam with 15 mm × 75 mm cross sectional dimensions, loaded to 1-1.5 mm/m strain.
The measuring rig stands on the beam via hardened and polished spherical segment feet and uses a capacitive transducer system with less than 5nm resolution. Various application tasks are described. The total inaccuracy of the measured deflection, i.e. apart from bending moment inaccuracy, is about ± 35 times 10^4% for about 10 reproduced, not repeated, tests with the same steel beam. The deflection for such a beam is of the order of 2 to 4 mm.

Aspects of rapid crack propagation in silicon

Fracture experiments with silicon specimens in recent years have shown the need for a new approach to the analysis of rapidly propagating cracks in single crystals. Behaviour and phenomena have been revealed that fracture in these materials is rather different from the fracture of both amorphous and polycrystalline materials. We show that continuum mechanics is insufficient for analyzing crack propagation in single crystals since it is unable to consider atomistic‐scale phenomena. Accordingly, we describe basic phenomena associated with rapid crack propagation in silicon : (i) anisotropic velocity‐dependent R‐curve behaviour, as a key phenomenon dictating atomistic scale behaviour, (ii) crack deflection from one cleavage plane to another as a mesoscopic scale phenomenon in single‐crystal fracture, (iii) the Rayleigh surface wave speed as the limiting crack tip velocity is re‐examined, (vi) the lowest crack velocity in brittle crystals is examined, and finally (v) the interaction between crack path and preferred cleavage planes in single crystals is depicted.

压电超声微电机混合结构定子的固有频率特性分析

压电超声微电机是依靠定子振动变换能的功率器件，定子性能将直接关系到微电机能否实现，本文采用Ｒａｙｌｅｉｇｈ－Ｒｉｔｚ方法来分析机械中经常采用的多层膜结构（混合结构）定子的固有振动特性，推导中考虑了平面应力和弯曲应力对固有频率的影响，模拟计算和实验结果符合得较好，此外还讨论了定子有关参数对固有频率的影响。

为了加强对油库消防监控,更好地保护油库的消防安全,宁波镇海国家储备油库的消防监控系统尝试了火灾自动报警与PLC自动控制相结合的监控模式,并取得了良好效果,使系统监控的智能化程度大为提高,其报警及灭火控制功能更为先进。文章主要阐述了该系统的特点、结构及功能,并结合实际工程应用介绍了该系统的工作流程,为该技术在其他类似工程的应用提供了有益的借鉴。     

A motivational model of rural students' intentions to persist in, versus drop out of, high school.

Using self-determination theory, the authors tested a motivational model to explain the conditions under which rural students formulate their intentions to persist in, versus drop out of, high school. The model argues that motivational variables underlie students' intentions to drop out and that students' motivation can be either supported in the classroom by autonomy-supportive teachers or frustrated by controlling teachers. LISREL analyses of questionnaire data from 483 rural high school students showed that the provision of autonomy support within classrooms predicted students' self-determined motivation and perceived competence. These motivational resources, in turn, predicted students' intentions to persist, versus drop out, and they did so even after controlling for the effect of achievement. 在每一周期的开始时的速度值V1预设定到传动装置上进行速度预控制，同时，反馈回来的实际值Sj与S1进行比较计算，得出当时偏差值△S，此偏差值△S乘以比例系数Ksp，得到Vk叠加在Vt上，得出传动装置应具有的速度控制信号V，然后V经速度／电压变换和D／A转换向传动系统的速度控制发出控制信号Uα控制执行机构的定位。调节Ksp的值使系统无超调无振荡。
