Tribotronics—Towards active tribology

A constant trend towards more compact mechanical systems with higher power densities and increased thermo-mechanical loads emphasises the importance of the development of new design approaches and novel tribological systems. Ignoring this may cause a significant slow down in technological and industrial development. Tribotronics or active tribology based on adaptive performance is thought of as being critical in the implementation of smart machine concepts. Recognition of the importance of tribotronics, or active control of system loss outputs, such as those through friction and wear will have significant beneficial economic consequences as a result of the associated accelerated rate of technological progress. These smart tribotronic systems can be embedded in a great variety of machines and mechanisms. If this integration is made at the design stage, products that are more flexible, efficient and reliable can be produced. The concept of tribotronics is presented and discussed in this paper. Some illustrative examples that show the feasibility of an “active” approach are given. In addition, various possibilities already reported in literature are discussed.

Clay compaction modelling by homogenization theory

The modelling of hydromechanical behavior of clayey sediments by homogenization theory is described. The rheological model of clays buried in depth requires a three-dimensional approach and laboratory experiments to quantify the model parameters. An iterative process which can be coupled to any homogenization method is used to model the porous media behavior. Hydromechanical compaction results from oedometric experiments are simulated with the proposed model.     

天然气管网输配气量优化研究

天然气管网系统管理部门为了明确天然气管网的输气能力和提高天然气管网的利用率，需要对天然气管网系统的输配气量进行优化。为此，以天然气管网系统的最大流量为目标函数，同时考虑了管道强度、节点压力和流量限制等约束条件，建立了天然气管网输配气量优化的数学模型。在研究遗传算法和模拟退火算法的基础上，提出了一种由二者结合构成的具有全域搜索、快速收敛和鲁棒性强等特点的混合遗传算法。结合实例，采用这一新算法求解了天然气管网输配气量优化的数学模型。实例优化结果表明，所建立的数学模型和采用的混合遗传算法是可行和有效的，能够对天然气管网系统输配气量的调度运行起到指导作用。     

基于神经网络基础上的两种系统安全综合评价方法

从工业企业生产发展的特点出发,在界定安全评价概念的基础上，从系统论的角度简要介绍了运用三层BP神经网络技术进行安全综合评价的方法和安全模糊综合评价方法。通过对这两种较为流行的安全评价方法进行分析，指出了传统评价方法的不合理性，辨证说明了这两种评价方法的优越性。     

Trauma, dissociation, and conflict: The space where neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychoanalysis overlap.

The authors describe their scientific and clinical interests in developing the panel Trauma, Dissociation, and Conflict: The Space Where Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, and Psychoanalysis Overlap, given at the 22nd Annual Spring Meeting of the Division of Psychoanalysis of the American Psychological Association. They cite the influence of the panelists, Philip M. Bromberg, Wilma Bucci, and Joseph LeDoux, on their own work. Specializing in the treatment of chronic pain, Anderson has developed a relational intersubjective technique informed by this interdisciplinary approach. Gold's work has focused on the distinction between dissociative processes and repression in traumatic memory. The relevance of trauma, dissociation, and conflict, heightened since September 11, 2001, could not have been anticipated in the planning of the panel. A goal-striving life event and the onset of hypomanic and depressive episodes and symptoms: Perspective from the Behavioral Approach System (BAS) dysregulation theory.

On the basis of the behavioral approach system (BAS) dysregulation theory of bipolar disorder, this study examined the relation between occurrence of a BAS activation-relevant life event--goal striving--and onset of hypomanic and depressive episodes and symptoms. In particular, the authors examined the relation between preparing for and completing final exams (a goal-striving event) and onset of bipolar spectrum episodes and symptoms in college students with bipolar II disorder or cyclothymia (i.e., "soft" bipolar spectrum conditions). One hundred fifty-nine individuals with either a bipolar spectrum disorder (n=68) or no major affective psychopathology (controls; n=91) were further classified on the basis of whether they were college students (i.e., completed final exams). Consistent with the BAS dysregulation theory, preparing for and completing final exams was associated with an increase in hypomanic but not depressive episodes and symptoms in individuals with a soft bipolar spectrum diagnosis. Furthermore, self-reported BAS sensitivity moderated the presence of certain hypomanic symptoms during final exams. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)
