Motion and structure interpretation of an optical switch

This paper focuses on tracking, reconstruction and motion estimation of a well-defined MEMS optical switch from a microscopic view. For out-of-view reconstruction, a homography capable of transforming feature points and feature lines between a microscopic image and a CAD model of the switch is implemented. The homography between two sequential microscopic images is decomposed and factorized for motion estimation. Optical flow has also been explored to provide rough estimations of rotation centre and angle. The paper also illustrates motion parameter optimization principles to deal with uncertainty inherent in micro world. After non-linear optimization, estimation accuracy for rotation angle and rotation centre can reach 0.06° and pixel level, respectively.     

Synthesis,characterization and ion exchange properties of zirconium(IV) tungstoiodophosphate,a new cation exchanger

Zirconium(IV) tungstoiodophosphate has been synthesized under a variety of conditions. The most chemically and thermally stable sample is prepared by adding a mixture of aqueous solutions of 0·5 mol L⁻¹ sodium tungstate, potassium iodate and 1 mol L⁻¹ orthophosphoric acid to aqueous solution of 0·1 mol L⁻¹ zirconium(IV) oxychloride. Its ion exchange capacity for Na⁺ and K⁺ was found to be 2·20 and 2·35 meq g⁻¹ dry exchanger, respectively. The material has been characterized on the basis of chemical composition, pH titration, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis. The effect on the exchange capacity of drying the exchanger at different temperatures has been studied. The analytical importance of the material has been established by quantitative separation of Pb²⁺ from other metal ions.     

阴离子型水性超分散剂的制备及其表征

根据超分散剂作用机理及结构设计原则，以马来酸酐、正丁醇、丙烯酸为原料，过硫酸铵为引发剂，通过先酯化后共聚的方法，制备出低相对分子质量的水溶性超分散剂。通过红外光谱（FT-IR）对聚合物的结构进行表征，运用乌氏黏度法测定其相对分子质量．用合成的超分散剂对纳米二氧化钛、纳米碳酸钙进行了分散稳定性的研究，发现该超分散剂能使纳米二氧化钛在水溶液中稳定分散1152h以上，使纳米碳酸钙悬浮液的黏度降低到接近水的黏度．该超分散剂能有效的分散超细粒子．     

QFT control design for an approximately linearized pneumatic positioning system

A block‐oriented approximate feedback linearization for control of a pneumatic cylinder positioning system is introduced and a rather detailed discussion is presented on the uncertain linearization residual characterization. It is shown that making use of the characterized gain–phase information of the linearized system leads to a more reasonable trade‐off between performance and stability in the QFT control design and thus results in high control performance. Production and structural features of a water-soluble polysaccharide from a mutant strain of Agrobacterium sp.

We have developed a mutant strain derived from Agrobacterium sp. ATCC 31750, which produces a water-soluble polysaccharide having potential utility to the food, feed, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. A high concentration of product (15 g/L) is obtained by 48 h cultivation of the mutant strain under optimized fermentation conditions. The water-soluble polysaccharide obtained from cultures of the mutant strain beta82 has Glc:Man:Gal in approximate molar ratios of 5.8:6.7:1.0. The molecular weight of the polysaccharide was determined to be approximately 1000 kDa by HPSEC analysis. Linkage analysis contained 3-Glcp, 3-Manp, terminal Glcp and terminal Manp, as well as a small proportion of 3- and 3,4-Galp, and 4,6-Manp residues. Based on analyses using FT-IR and ¹³C NMR spectrometers, most glycosidic bonds joining these sugar residues are of the α-type, and acetyl groups are apparently attached to the polymer chain at random.

L-抗坏血酸亚铁的合成及表征

研究了VeCO3的制备以及利用自制的FeCO3与L-抗坏血酸作用合成L-抗坏血酸亚铁.主要探讨了溶剂的用量、反应时间以及温度对产物收率和产品质量的影响.确定了最佳反应条件为:溶剂用量为20mL,时间为120min,反应温度为100℃,产率可达68.1%.并通过x射线能谱和红外吸收光谱等测试手段对产品进行了表征.     

Stability of hydrogenated nanodiamonds under extreme ultraviolet irradiation

It is generally accepted that diamond is resistant to a wide spectrum of electromagnetic radiation from the ultraviolet through to the soft X-ray range, which makes it very attractive for the fabrication of diamond-based photodetectors. However the effect of photon radiation on the diamond structure has not yet been examined. In the work presented here, photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to study the graphitization of nanodiamond crystallites exposed to extreme ultraviolet radiation. Under such irradiation, the surface hydrogen groups and graphite species are found to prevent graphitization. The mechanism of radiation-induced nanodiamond graphitization is discussed.     

Characteristics of origin-destination pair traffic in Funet

In this paper we analyze measurements gathered from a 2.5~Gbps link in the Finnish university network (Funet) in 2004. The traffic is broken down into origin-destination (OD) pair components based on source and destination IP address. We study the traffic characteristics of these components, and identify four typical representative OD pairs. For these pairs we investigate the validity of a moving IID Gaussian model. We find that the statistical properties of these OD pairs differ significantly from each other, with only some of them close to Gaussian. The OD pairs are also found to have some cross-correlation between each other, contradicting an often made assumption about OD pair independence. Furthermore, the existence of a mean-variance relation between the OD pairs is studied. We find that there is a relation between mean and variance, but for some periods of time it is rather weak.     

Where is the psychology going? Structural fault lines revealed by psychologists' use of Kuhn.

Psychologists' appropriation of language and ideas from Thomas Kuhn's (1962, 1970b) The Structure of Scientific Revolutions reveals deep and contradictory concerns about truth, science, and the progress of the field. The author argues that psychologists, uncomfortably straddling natural and social science traditions, reference Structure for 2 reasons largely overlooked: first, because it presents an intermediate, naturalistic position in the war between relativist and rationalist views of scientific truth, and second, because it presents a psychologized model of scientific change. The author suggests that the history of this mutual influence--psychologists being influenced by Kuhn and vice versa--may usefuly inform current practices of psychological science.
