India needs large dams for water storage, hydropower and flood control. It also needs long-distance inter-basin water transfers. However, India has a complex and strict environmental regulatory system which ignores a developing economy's needs and peoples' aspirations and is often impractical. This is used by activists to thwart infrastructure building, and, when faced with development slowdown, the government tries to thwart the laws they themselves have made. India's food, water and energy security, economic, and poverty-alleviation plans are in jeopardy unless environmental regulators realize that the regulations are being misused and that environmental over-enthusiasm is benefiting neither development nor the environment. 相似文献

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites are considered to have high performance and potential for use in strengthening , retrofitting and for the rehabilitation of structural sections. In this paper, design procedures are proposed for the axial load capacity of cold formed steel lipped channel columns strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). For the purpose of validation, the results are based on the proposed design equation from the North American specification for the design of cold-formed steel structural members (AISI-2007) and Euro code for cold-formed members and sheeting (EC3-EN1993-1-3:2006) are compared against the experimental test data. The test results showed that the capacity of the columns are close to the theoretical values predicted by the AISI-2007 and EC 3 provisions. Some tested specimens showed reduced capacity and premature failure due to peeling and debonding of the CFRP from the steel. Various experimental investigations are suggested for future work to further validate and update the design equations. From the experimental studies, it has been observed that there is significant increase in strength due to CFRP strengthening. 相似文献

An analytical method for the determination of ethyl carbamate in alcoholic beverages has been developed and optimized. A combination of headspace solid phase microextraction (HS‐SPME), as the extraction technique, and GC/MS, as the determination technique, was utilized. Analytical grade ethyl carbamate dissolved in ethanol solution was analyzed to determine the optimum analytical conditions. Ethyl carbamate‐d5 was added as an internal standard. The following HS‐SPME conditions were investigated: type of stationary phase of the fibre, ethanol content, sample volume and extraction time. The optimized procedure showed that the detection limit, relative standard deviation, and recovery were 6.7 μg/L, 0.4–2.0%, and 103.6–107.6%, respectively.
