Criterion for Selecting Composite Materials for Explosion Containment Structures (Review)

Experimental data on the dynamic response and strength of simple shells of fiber composites are used to justify the choice of these materials for the load-bearing shells of blast-proof structures. It is shown that in such structures composites are preferred to homogeneous metal alloys (structural steels) to eliminate strong scale effects of an energetic nature. A criterion for selecting fibers is proposed and justified experimentally, and reinforcement patterns are determined to obtain optimal (in the strength-mass ratio) compositions for the load-bearing shells of blast-proof containers and chambers. __________ Translated from Fizika Goreniya i Vzryva, Vol. 41, No. 5, pp. 3–13, September–October, 2005.     

Investigation of the effect of surface phosphate ester dispersant on viscosity by coarse-grain modeling of BaTiO slurry

To understand the role of phosphate ester dispersant, we investigated the rheology of a BaTiO slurry. For the model case, a coarse-grain molecular dynamics (CGMD) simulation was performed with the butyral polymer didodecyl hydrogen phosphate (DHP) in the toluene/ethanol solvent. By systematically analyzing the effect of DHP from an atomic-scale first principle and from all-atom MD to microscale CGMD simulation, we investigated how the adsorption of a DHP dispersant on a BaTiO surface affects the microstructure rheology of a BaTiO slurry. The first-principle and all-atom MD simulation suggests that DHP molecules prefer to locate near the BaTiO surface. CGMD simulation shows a reduction in viscosity with an increase in dispersants, suggesting that the dispersant population near the BaTiO surface plays a key role in controlling the rheology of the BaTiO slurry. In this study, we propose an approach for understanding the BaTiO slurry with molecular-level simulations, which would be a useful tool for efficient optimization of slurry preparation.     

Grafting poly(t‐butyl acrylate) to poly(allylamine) by inverse microemulsion radical polymerization: From comb‐polymer to amphiphilic shell crosslinked polymer nanocapsule

An interfacial grafting radical polymerization method for amphiphilic comb copolymer and shell crosslinked polymer nanocapsules was reported. Macropolyradicals on a water soluble long chain polyamine were generated with hydrogen peroxide in the water phase and subsequent grafting radical polymerization of a vinylic monomer at the water/oil interface proceeded at 65°C. In the presence of a crosslinker, the resulting graft copolymer formed a defined core‐shell structure with hydrophilic aqueous core functionalized by the polyamine and a hydrophobic crosslinked polymer shell. The structure of the core‐shell material was characterized by NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, TEM, and the mechanism of the graft polymerization is proposed. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 壳管式换热器在化工和食品行业中有着广泛的应用,对其分析的方法与手段也有很多。在本文中,作者尝试建立起壳管式换热器的传递函数,并利用Matlab分析软件中的Simulink模块对其分析与仿真,通过得到的动态特性仿真曲线,为提高换热器的使用效率提供一些依据。     

大开口高承载网格加筋壳的设计与工艺

本文采用有限元法计算了承受高轴压和外压作用下的大开口复合材料纵横密加筋壳的稳定性，得出不同铺层角度、不同受力工况下的大开口圆柱壳的临界载荷，并采用1：1试验件进行试验验证，将计算值与实验值进行了比较；对大开口复合材料纵横密加筋壳的缠绕工艺进行了研究，解决了大开口网格加筋壳开口补强的一次成型技术和密筋及开口部分的多丝嘴、无增量、非线性机械化缠绕成型工艺技术。     

Morphologies and dynamic mechanical properties of core‐shell emulsifier‐free latexes and their copolymers for P(BA/MMA)/P(MMA/BA) and P(BA/MMA)/PSt systems in the presence of AHPS

Different poly(methyl methacrylate/n‐butyl acrylate)/poly(n‐butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate) [P(BA/MMA)/P(MMA/BA)] and poly(n‐butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate)/polystyrene [P(BA/MMA)/PSt] core‐shell structured latexes were prepared by emulsifier‐free emulsion polymerization in the presence of hydrophilic monomer 3‐allyloxy‐2‐hydroxyl‐propanesulfonic salt (AHPS). The particle morphologies of the final latexes and dynamic mechanical properties of the copolymers from final latexes were investigated in detail. With the addition of AHPS, a latex of stable and high‐solid content (60 wt %) was prepared. The diameters of the latex particles are ～0.26 μm for the P(BA/MMA)/P(MMA/BA) system and 0.22–0.24 μm for the P(BA/MMA)/PSt system. All copolymers from the final latexes are two‐phase structure polymers, shown as two glass transition temperatures (T_gs) on dynamic mechanical analysis spectra. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Monodisperse polymer/metal composite particles by electroless chemical deposition: Effect of surface functionality of polymer particles

Micron‐sized polymer particles were coated with layers of nickel compounds by plating electrolessly in the presence of aqueous solutions of nickel chloride, sodium hypophosphite, sodium citrate, and ammonium chloride at elevated temperature. The uniform functional polymer particle could be obtained by seeded polymerization. To investigate the effect of surface functionality on the conditions for nickel deposition, the polymer particle was functionalized with the thiol group. From morphological observation, it was found that the mode of nickel deposition was greatly dependent on the surface functionality of the polymer particle. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
