Orientation-based unique representation for planar curves and shapes

This paper presents an orientation-based representation for planar curves and shapes. The new representation can uniquely represent all types, of planar shapes, be it convex, nonconvex, polygonal, smoothly curved, or piecewise smooth shapes. It is based on a new parameterization, theabsolute integral orientation. This representation is invariant under translation and rotation. The absolute integral orientation is a parameter invariant under scaling. As a result, matching of similar shapes (i.e., determination of the relative orientation and the scaling factor) using the absolute integral orientation as the parameter is easier than using the arclength as the parameter. In addition, the new representation has the feature of adaptive sampling, making it more compact and efficient than arc-length-based representations.     

Synthesis and characterization of poly(siloxane-urethane)s

A series of polyurethane block copolymers based on hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane and poly(propylene glycol) soft segments of molecular weights 1818 and 2000, respectively, were synthesized. The hard segments consisted of 4,4′-diphenylnethane diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol as the chain extender. Samples with different molar ratios were prepared. We tried to synthesize polydimethylsiloxane-based polyurethanes (PDMS-PU) containing a hard block as major fraction and a soft block as minor fraction for preparing toughened rigid systems. After a study of the pure polydimethylsiloxane-based polyurethane and poly(propylene glycol)-based polyurethane (PPG-PU), (mixed polyol)-based block copolymers and blends of PDMS-PU and PPG-PU were synthesized, and characterized by means of differential scanning calorimetry, tensile testing and scanning electron microscopy. In (mixed polyol)-based copolymers and lower hard-segment content blends, macro-phase separation occurred, but blends with higher hard-segment contents showed significant reduction in amounts of phase separation.

NiTi形状记忆合金基本驱动特性

研究了预应变ＮｉＴｉ形状记忆合金的基本驱动特性，结果表明，加热和冷却过程回复力存在滞后行为；卸载过程中应力与应变具有与加热、冷却过程相关的非线性关系；卸尖力随卸载应变速率增加而降低，此外研究了预应变ＮｉＴｉ合金丝产生回复力后对外应力的响应行为。

Predicting the shape of organic crystals grown from polar solvents

A method for predicting the shape of organic crystals grown from polar solvents is presented. The model is an improvement of the recent method developed by Winn and Doherty (A.I.Ch.E. Journal 44 (1998) 2501) for predicting the shape of organic crystals grown from solvents in which the energy of adhesion at the interfaces is dominated by dispersive forces (e.g., non-polar solvents). The principal characteristic of the new method is that it can account for the role of hydrogen donor and hydrogen acceptor atoms in forming strong bonds at the interface. This technique is a first step towards predicting the shapes of organic crystals grown from polar solvents, and has been applied successfully to predict the shape of adipic acid grown from water, and succinic acid grown from water and from propanol.     

油田开发经济运行质量研究与应用

提出了油田开发经济运行质量的研究方法和技术思路。对胜利油区几种典型的油藏类型进行了经济运行质量评价。以老河口油田桩106块为例，提出了提高油田经济运行质量的三条基本途径，取得了较好的实际应用效果。     

Bulk modification of styrene–butadiene–styrene triblock copolymer with maleic anhydride

The bulk modification of SBS rubber with maleic anhydride in a mixing chamber of a Haake rheomixer was studied. The effect of temperature, maleic anhydride, and benzoyl peroxide concentrations on the grafting efficiency was evaluated. High grafting efficiency was achieved when the ratio of peroxide and maleic anhydride concentration was high. On the other hand, on this condition high insoluble fraction was generated. The addition of a diamine, 4,4′‐diaminediphenylmethane to the reaction mixture minimizes the amount of insoluble polymer. However, the grafted MAH content also decreases. The graft copolymer was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and the grafting extension was determined by titration. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
