Open‐cycle OTEC systems with freshwater product: Effects of noncondensable gases on performance of condenser

An open‐cycle ocean thermal energy conversion (OC‐OTEC) system is one of the energy conversion methods used to generate electricity from ocean thermal energy. For the OC‐OTEC system, steam evaporated from the surface seawater due to flash evaporation drives the turbine. At that time, dissolved gas such as air is introduced into the low‐pressure system (OC‐OTEC system) as the noncondensable gas, which degrades the performance of condensation heat transfer. In this paper, a small‐scale OC‐OTEC experimental unit experimentally investigates the effect of noncondensable gas on the heat transfer performance in a condenser. The experimental results are discussed in comparison with theoretical estimation by the Sparrow–in method. It is shown that the condensation is occupied by heat and mass transfer near a condensation surface and that the condensation efficiency is affected by exhaust quantity of noncondensable gas at a relatively high concentration ratio of condensable gas. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 测井资料高分辨率层序地层分析

高分辨率层序地层学克服了岩性地层对比穿时的缺点.高分辨率层序地层对比是等时的高精度的地层对比,它满足了勘探开发中地层对比等时性和高分辨率的要求.测井资料的纵向分辨率较高,是高分辨率层序地层研究的重要资料.提出了利用测井相分析技术,从测井资料上识别出单井岩性和沉积微相剖面,结合测井曲线特征,划分单井基准面旋回,并进行连井地层等时对比,这为定量地进行高分辨率层序地层分析提供了一种方法.通过研究区实际资料的处理,验证了该方法的有效性.     

SMT互连组件在热循环中的可靠性预计模型

电子设备中表面安装器件和电路基板以及焊接材料的热膨胀系数差异,使得SMT互连组件在热循环条件下产生热膨胀失配,在焊接处产生热应力,在长时间的交变应力的作用下,焊接处遭到疲劳破坏而使设备工作失效,这就是SMT互连组件在热循环条件下的基本失效机理。文中还介绍了美国MIL—HDBK—217F NOTICE Ⅱ公布的表面安装连接组件可靠性预测lSMT模型。给出一系列具有实用价值的参数。     

真丝绸产品的清洁生产与生态设计

通过对真丝绸整个产品生命过程的分析，对其进行了生命周期评价，说明了丝绸与其产地环境之间的联系和影响，尝试寻求两者之间的和谐关系，提出了清洁生产工艺的规划和各种行之有效的对策和措施，尝试了对环境友好的丝绸印染工艺的生态设计。     

Evaluating Liquefaction Strength of Partially Saturated Sand

A method is presented for evaluating the liquefaction strength of partially saturated sand using the compression wave velocity (P-wave velocity), a new indicator of saturation. Based on laboratory test results, an empirical correlation that relates the liquefaction strength with the pore pressure coefficient B is firstly proposed. The strength is defined as the cyclic stress ratio required to cause liquefaction at a specified number of cycles. With the aid of a theoretical relation between B and the P-wave velocity, an explicit correlation of more interest is then established between the liquefaction strength of sand and its P-wave velocity. A comparison of the predictions using this explicit correlation with laboratory measurements shows a satisfactory agreement. The significance of this method lies in that it makes it possible to evaluate the liquefaction strength of sand as affected by saturation through the measurement of P-wave velocity, which can be made not only in the laboratory but particularly in the field.     

An economic and environmental assessment of biomass utilization in lignite‐fired power plants of Greece

The environmental and socio‐economic impacts of biomass utilization by co‐firing with brown coal in an existing thermoelectric unit in Greece or through its pure combustion in a new plant were studied and evaluated in this work. The 125 MW_e lignite‐fired power plant in Ptolemais Power Station (Western Macedonia) was used as reference system. The environmental benefits of the alternative biomass exploitation options were quantified based on the life cycle assessment methodology, as established by SETAC, while the BIOSEM technique was used to carry out socio‐economic calculations. The obtained results showed clear environmental benefits of both biomass utilization alternatives in comparison with the reference system. In addition, co‐firing biomass with lignite in an existing unit outperforms the combustion of biomass exclusively in a new plant, since it exhibits a better environmental performance and it is a low risk investment with immediate benefits. A biomass combustion unit requires a considerably higher capital investment and its benefits are more evident in the long run. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Photovoltaic collectors efficiency according to their integration in buildings

A model for building integrated photovoltaic systems has been developed and implemented in a dynamic simulation tool. This tool takes into account the thermal interactions between the PV collector and the building. The influence of the type of integration upon the PV collector efficiency has been evaluated and hybrid PV/air collectors have been studied. An overall efficiency is defined, including the production of electricity and heat. A case study has been performed on two different typical buildings. In the case of a multi-crystalline silicon PV collector integrated on the roof of a single family house located in Paris, the efficiency of unventilated PV modules fixed on the roof is 14%. If the PV collector is used to preheat the ventilation air, the efficiency reaches 20%. A proper building integration also improves the environmental balance of PV technologies over their life cycle.
