A new isothermally based, cure kinetic model for the prepreg was presented using an industrially supplied prepreg rather than pure resin. The matrix resin was bismaleimide (BMI) resins, and the reinforcement was carbon fiber T700–12S. The BMI prepreg was measured from 170 to 220°C by isothermal DSC. The isothermal cure reaction heat increases with the increment of cure temperature. The DSC data were analyzed by the proposed nth‐order reaction model. An increase in reaction rate was observed at higher temperature in both neat and prepreg. After reaching the peak value, the reaction rate dropped off faster in prepreg, resulting in a lower average value of the ultimate heat of reaction. It was suggested the presence of carbon fiber had an effect on the cure kinetics as a heat sink. The carbon fibers imposed restrictions on the molecular mobility of the reactive species and did not change the cure mechanism. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The isothermal cure of an epoxy-novolac molding compound was studied by means of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and dielectrometry (DE). Results obtained were compared with previous differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) observations. The behavior of epoxide conversion (FTIR) measured via FTIR was found similar to (but not exactly coinciding with) the extent of cure (DSC) determined previously by means of DSC. As for the DE analysis, directly measurable properties such as permittivity () and loss factor () varied in a complicated manner during the course of cure, showing strong dependence on both temperature and frequency. Other dielectric parameters (such as ionic conductivity, relaxed permittivity, and characteristic relaxation time) previously suggested in the literature as suitable for cure monitoring purposes were found difficult to determine within the limited frequency range (100 to 104 Hz) here. With some arbitrariness, the relative drop in log (at 100 Hz) was taken as an index (DE) for the extent of cure. Blends based on ethylene–propylene–diene monomer rubber (EPDM) and acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) was prepared. Sulfur was used as the vulcanizing agent. The effects of blend ratio on the cure characteristics and mechanical properties, such as stress–strain behavior, tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness, rebound resilience, and abrasion resistance have been investigated. Tensile and tear strength showed synergism for the blend containing 30% of NBR, which has been explained in terms of morphology of the blends attested by scanning electron micrographs. A relatively cocontinuous morphology was observed for 70 : 30, EPDM/NBR blend system. The experimental results have been compared with the relevant theoretical models. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The isothermal and nonisothermal cure behaviors of a novel nitrogen‐containing epoxy resin (XT resin) were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Various kinetic parameters and details of cure process were obtained based on the Avrami theory. The results indicated that Avrami method is suitable for calculating the kinetic parameters up to the gel point at least. The apparent activation energy (Ea) for isothermal cure process was in agreement with that for nonisothermal cure process. Ea value in the early stage (78.5–81.0 KJ mol?1) was about three times than that in the later stage (23.3–26.5 KJ mol?1). The kinetic results from Avrami theory may present a combined effect of all factors, and which is helpful to understand the cure technique for XT–DDS system. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 本文以木质纤维素/蒙脱土、炭黑为增强材料,制备了天然橡胶复合材料,探讨了以间苯二酚(R-80)、六甲氧基甲基三聚氰胺(HMMM)和新癸酸钴为主要成分的粘合体系对天然橡胶复合材料性能的影响。结果表明:间-甲-钴粘合体系大幅提高了天然橡胶复合材料的焦烧时间(T_(10))和正硫化时间(T_(90)),降低了其硫化速度(V_(C1));力学测试显示,粘合体系对复合材料的拉伸强度、撕裂强度和断裂伸长率的影响相当大;提高了复合材料的邵氏A硬度、密度和耐磨性。 相似文献

对3种不同取代基的秋兰姆类促进剂在天然橡胶中的硫化特性及物理性能进行了比较。结果发现,不论在有效、半有效或普通硫化体系中,含促进剂TE的天然橡胶胶料均具有最长的焦烧时间和较好的抗硫化返原性。对物理机械性能和抗热氧老化性能亦无不良影响,适合于在天然橡胶大型厚制品胶料中应用。 相似文献
