This paper deals with a design problem of robust non-fragile stabilizing controllers for a class of uncertain linear continuous-time systems. The proposed design approach of robust non-fragile controllers is based on computation of the trajectory for the uncertain linear system and differs from the existing methods based on quadratic stabilization via Lyapunov criterion. In this paper, we show that sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability of the linear system with uncertainties and controller gain variations, and a LMI-based design algorithm of a robust non-fragile controller. Furthermore, we extend the result to the design problem of decentralized robust non-fragile controllers for a class of uncertain large-scale interconnected systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design scheme of robust non-fragile controllers is shown through illustrative examples.  相似文献

A new whispering cave mode (WCM), a three-dimensional (3D) case of Lord Rayleigh's 2D whispering gallery modes, based upon 3D total internal reflection is presented, where GaAs quantum well (QW) near-vertical microdisk resonators exhibit a strong carrier-photon coupling for the QW carriers located in the Rayleigh band, generating 2D-to-1D carrier phase transitions of photonic quantum ring (PQR). It is a ‘photonic’ quantum corral effect (PQCE), whose simulation work produces a tangled web pattern of imminent recombinant carriers in picoseconds timescale. The PQCE is responsible for the ultralow threshold currents below 300 nA for a single mode GaAs PQR laser, and a prototype GaN PQR laser with a threshold near and below 1 μA.  相似文献

I argue that intentional psychology does not stand in need of vindication by a lower-level implementation theory from cognitive science, in particular the representational theory of mind (RTM), as most famously Jerry Fodor has argued. The stance of the paper is novel in that I claim this holds even if one, in line with Fodor, views intentional psychology as an empirical theory, and its theoretical posits as as real as those of other sciences. I consider four metaphysical arguments for the idea that intentional psychological states, such as beliefs, must be seen as requiring in-the-head mental representations for us to be able to understand their characteristic causal powers and argue that none of them validly generate their desired conclusions. I go on to argue that RTM, or some computational version thereof, is not motivated by appeal to the nature of cognitive science research either. I conclude that intentional psychology, though an empirical theory, is autonomous from details of lower level mechanism in a way that renders RTM unwarranted.  相似文献

Global positioning systems (GPS) logs recorded in personal devices contain rich information such as travel patterns, locations of frequent visits and place–event associations. There have been rather successful attempts in detecting the mode of transport from GPS logs such as walking, driving or taking a bus, which has found varied applications. However, the best-known schemes either require tedious manual labelling or pre-training process (or both). We present MoDetect (MD), a unsupervised scheme which eliminates the need of manual labelling and pre-training while attaining equal or greater accuracy compared with the best-known supervised methods. MD can also cater for differences in individual's behaviours, and hence may be more widely applicable than the existing schemes. To achieve this, MD relies on Kolmogorov–Smirnov test which offers a theoretical assurance when computing similarity between segments of records. Our analysis shows that the higher speed modes can be better differentiated through a weighted bootstrapping procedure. We also augment the decisions with reference to the transfer probabilities between different modes at locations identified from the GPS records.  相似文献

Accurate estimation of shortwave net radiation (Sn) at a high spatial resolution is critical for regional and global land surface models. Current surface radiation budget products have fine temporal resolutions, but only coarse spatial resolutions that are not suitable for land applications. A hybrid algorithm was developed in this study to estimate Sn from MODIS data under both clear and cloudy sky conditions without requiring coarser resolution ancillary data. This algorithm was validated using ground measurements at seven sites of the SURFace RADiation budget observing network (SURFRAD) in the United States. Instantaneous Sn estimated by this method was also compared with GEWEX/SRB and ISCCP data, and other methods. The results indicate that our algorithm can produce Sn at 1-km resolution with improved accuracy and is easily implemented to generate operational global products. Daily integrated Sn is estimated at 1-km resolution using instantaneous Sn. These finer spatial resolution datasets capture the specific sequence of the redistribution of the available energy at the Earth's surface. Therefore, they support recent high resolution land surface models.  相似文献

A theoretical model, describing thermal degradation behavior of cotton fabrics that exposed to a constant radiant heat flux, is proposed in the paper. The model describes thermal and oxidative degradation of cotton fabric under the oxygen‐containing atmosphere and considers pseudo‐bi‐component separate‐stage kinetic process. Both exothermic and endothermic reactions are included in the decomposition process. At present, gas phase oxidation reactions are not included. Comparison with experimental results demonstrates that the predictions of the mass loss rate and temperature profile with these cotton fabrics are in agreement with the experiment. Effects of thermal radiation and ambient oxygen concentration on decomposition have also been investigated. The gas phase temperature is also predicted by the present numerical model. Results from numerical model will help contribute to a better understanding of the ignition mechanism of flame‐resistant cotton fabrics used for fire safety garments. Abstract

We propose a method for a systematic investigation of quasicrystal-related approximant structures in view of photonic bandgap applications. A detailed study is presented in the case of approximants formed by dielectric cylinders and constructed from a two-dimensional quasiperiodic lattice with octagonal symmetry. We show that isotropic photonic bandgaps are obtained even for the lowest order approximants generated by successive hyperspace shear. The main Fourier components of the dielectric function, responsible for the first photonic bandgap opening, are derived from the main component set of the quasiperiodic lattice. The magnitudes of the corresponding Brillouin zone vectors are shown to be directly related to the average distance between the planes passing by the dielectric cylinders. In other words, the approximant gap position is rather determined by the fundamental lattice parameters common to the quasiperiodic and approximant structures than by the approximant period. We also show that structure point symmetry is not indispensable for the band gap opening.  相似文献
