Towards Japanese corpus-based semantic accessibility scale

A detailed analysis of semantic accessibility scale （SAS） based on Japanese corpus has been performed in this paper. Firstly, the method of systematic random sampling is devised for quicker comparison among six groups in きくに . Secondly, according to the direct result of comparison, different sampling ratios （SR） in groups show regular deviation. The more pages are extracted, the higher SR is involved. Thirdly, the values of SAS in groups are calculated and then contrasted with SR. The regular deviation of SR fails to bring fundamental variation of SAS even though minor difference of SAS in groups may be reflected. The irrelevance to SAS establishes the fact that SR can be used for literary critics to extract and analyze SAS in corpus-involved texts from semantic perspective.     

一种基于深广度权重树模型的局部最优树算法

为了降低用户访问页面的点击次数,提高网站的易用性,给出了一种独特的可以表示页面导航结构的深广度权重树模型,并在不影响导航之间逻辑关系的前提下,提出一种计算权重树的局部最优树算法。通过该算法改变了网站的导航结构,降低了网站总点击次数,继而提高了网站的易用性。实验结果表明该算法是有效的。     

居住小区价格与公共服务网络可达性的相关性研究

提出了居住小区公共服务网络的概念,考虑居住小区与各类公共服务节点之间的最短路径、最快路径、次短路径和次快路径等四个指标,以皮尔逊积矩相关系数评估各类公共服务节点可达性与居住小区住房价格的相关性,建立了计算模型,从而识别出对居住小区住房价格影响较大的因素,以武汉市居住小区公共服务网络为例进行了实证分析.结果表明,本方法能够效识别对居住小区价格有重要影响的公共服务要素,为居住小区规划和公共服务优化配置提供决策支持.     

Electrifying the Canon: The Impact of Computing on Classical Studies

The article offers a case study of the relationshipbetween current developments in Classical Studies andthe impact of computing and IT. The first sectionsummarises the main features of the Classical Studiesenvironment, especially the deep seated changes whichhave been taking place. These changes are then relatedto specific initiatives in Research, Teaching andLearning. The discussion is framed by a statement ofmicro-criteria for the evaluation of new developmentsand by reference to the macro-climate of debate aboutthe nature of cyberspace, especially the dichotomybetween conceptions of post-modern diversity and ofEnlightenment images of rational structures. It issuggested that these debates mirror those with whichthe discipline itself engages.     

An exploratory study of the accessibility of state government Web sites

This paper focuses on Web accessibility. Relevant legislation and judicial decisions are reviewed, and prior empirical research is presented. This study presents the results from the Web accessibility analysis of the home pages of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. It found that twenty-nine percent of the home pages do not meet the requirements for Conformance Level A Web accessibility. Only one state meets Conformance Level AA standards, which are the minimum standards recommended for Web accessibility, and no state meets Conformance Level AAA standards. This paper also discusses how to address common accessibility problems.

Accessibility levels of Portuguese enterprise websites: equal opportunities for all?

Web accessibility is growing in importance. We may also find an increasing need for access to web resources by those with some sort of disability. The Web is very important for spreading information and for promoting interaction between the various elements in society. Given this, it is essential that the Web presents itself as a totally accessible resource, so that it can help citizens with disabilities and their integration in society. This obligation should be even greater for enterprises as primarily the Web is used as a marketing and business platform. With this document, we present indicators regarding the [lack of] accessibility levels of Portuguese enterprise websites. This article contains theoretical and background considerations as well as the results of two different studies that the research team undertook. First of all, the research team made a comparison between the 1000 largest Portuguese enterprises (annual sales volume) and the 1000 best Portuguese small and medium enterprises (sales growth and profit) using a specialised software tool and according to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0; the research team then also considered WCAG 2.0 and its impact on enterprise Web accessibility. In the second study (qualitative in nature), focus group interactions led to a set of recommendations towards greater accessibility.     

适应新形势的大城市停车需求预测方法

目前我国已探讨出多种停车需求预测方法,这些方法的前提条件和适用范围各有不同,并且我国大城市交通形势又出现了小汽车进入家庭速度加快,交通拥堵日益突出,轨道交通建设进入黄金时代等新的情况。针对这些新形式,提出了宏观和中观停车需求预测方法,宏观层次为考虑车辆出行吸引和车辆使用率的总体停车需求预测,弥补了以往未考虑未出行车辆停车需求的不足;中观层面为考虑公交可达性和多种性质建筑综合开发共享停车需求预测,可减少配建停车泊位,提高停车泊位利用率。进行实例分析,丰富和扩展了交通规划模型技术,为我国大城市开展停车交通研究提供参考。     

AN ANALYSIS OF SOME FACTORS INFLUENCING SEAT COMFORT

Abstract

This study presents a re-analysis by correlation and factor analysis of data on the relative comfort of six Air Force pilot and crew seats. On the basis of the results obtained, the following conclusions may be drawn:

1. Seats are rated in the same relative order of comfort after only 5 min of sitting time has elapsed as after 4 or more hours of sitting on the seats.

2. People tend to rate the overall comfort of a seat mainly on the basis of the comfort of their backs and buttocks. The comfort of the neck and shoulders plays a secondary role while thigh und leg comfort seems to have little relationship to judgements of the overall comfort of a seat.

It was found that the following seven types of measurements wore measures of the same quantity, Overall Comfort of a, sent:

(a) Actual time a subject is willing to sit in a scat (up to a maximum of seven hours).

(b) Ratings of overall comfort after 5 min of sitting.

(c) Predictions of total time he would be willing to sit in the seat made after 5 min of sitting.

(d)Time of onset of first signs of discomfort.

(e)Ratings of overall comfort after 4 to 7 honrs of sitting.

(f)Comfort of the back.

(g)Comfort of the buttocks.     

The interaction experiences of visually impaired people with assistive technology: A case study of smartphones

Globally, the number of visually impaired people is large and increasing. Many assistive technologies are being developed to help visually impaired people, because they still have difficulty accessing assistive technologies that have been developed from a technology-driven perspective. This study applied a user-centered perspective to get different and hopefully deeper understanding of the interaction experiences. More specifically, this study focused on identifying the unique interaction experiences of visually impaired people when they use a camera application on a smartphone. Twenty participants conducted usability testing using the retrospective think aloud technique. The unique interaction experiences of visually impaired people with the camera application, and relevant implications for designing assistive technologies were analyzed.Relevance to industryThe considerations for conducting usability testing and the results of this study are expected to contribute to the design and evaluation of new assistive technologies based on smartphones.     

Do new and relocating firms have different preferences for accessibility?

Accessibility is one of the most important factors in a location choice decision of a firm. However, new and relocated establishments can value accessibility differently. Research papers differences of accessibility preferences between creations and relocations are scarce. In this paper, we examine these differences in an intraurban setting, the Lyon urban area. We rely on discrete choice models and data for more than 43,000 creations and 11,000 relocations during 2005–2011 from eight economic sectors. Results demonstrate that the effect of accessibility differs between creations and relocations of the same economic sector. This difference depends on the type of the economic activity of the sector.
