The lithogenic character of human gallbladder bile was investigated by a mathematical model on the basis of a clinical data set. Each bile was described by means of the quaternary system bile salts--phospholipids--free fatty acids--cholesterol. Reporting a set of bile samples on the tetrahedron of concentrations, a clear separation emerged between the control bile, the bile from patients with gallstones, and the bile of subjects with gallbladder dyskinesia. Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding (MCDA) offers a diversity of approaches designed for providing the decision maker (DM) with a recommendation concerning a set of alternatives (items, actions) evaluated from multiple points of view, called criteria. This paper aims at drawing attention of the Machine Learning (ML) community upon recent advances in a representative MCDA methodology, called Robust Ordinal Regression (ROR). ROR learns by examples in order to rank a set of alternatives, thus considering a similar problem as Preference Learning (ML-PL) does. However, ROR implements the interactive preference construction paradigm, which should be perceived as a mutual learning of the model and the DM. The paper clarifies the specific interpretation of the concept of preference learning adopted in ROR and MCDA, comparing it to the usual concept of preference learning considered within ML. This comparison concerns a structure of the considered problem, types of admitted preference information, a character of the employed preference models, ways of exploiting them, and techniques to arrive at a final ranking. 相似文献

The antioxidant capacities and the total phenolic content in cocoa liquor directly manufactured chocolate from an artisan manufacturer were measured using different in vitro methods (BR, TEAC, and Folin–Ciocalteu Reagent). These parameters were then compared with those of a chocolate made by a leading manufacturing company producing chocolate and cocoa‐containing products. A statistical analysis of the collected data showed that the antioxidant properties of the artisan‐made chocolate are significantly better than those of the factory‐produced one. These results were ascribed to the fact that all the bioactive components in the cocoa beans are better preserved in the artisan‐made chocolate. 相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) rheological, mechanical and impact tests were performed on alloys consisting of polycarbonate (PC) and diverse acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene copolymers (ABS), from which different amounts of low molecular (M) weight (W) species had been previously extracted in a Soxhlet apparatus by methanol. The influence on properties of the alloy composition and of the low MW species amount was investigated. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was found to be a useful probe for monitoring the migration trends of low MW ABS species towards the PC domains for the different alloys. In a morphological analysis it was found that the higher the ABS extraction extent the less the penetration of the etching agent into the surfaces of smoothed specimens. The blend rheological behavior showed that the capability of improving the PC processability, characteristic of commercial ABS's, was strongly lowered by the ABS extracted ones. The alloy modulus was higher when the ABS extraction extent was larger. The yield stress of alloys showed higher values than that of the PC one, particularly at low ABS content. The alloy composition, for which the impact resilience was at its maximum value, strongly depended on the extraction extent. All the above findings seem to suggest an increased adhesion between PC and ABS domains with enhanced extraction amounts of low MW species from the ABS component. 相似文献

A third-order continuous-time multibit (4 bit) /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ ADC for wireless applications is implemented in a 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS process. It is shown that the power consumption can be considerably reduced by using a tracking ADC composed of three comparators with interpolation instead of using a 4-bit flash quantizer. Moreover, the usage of a tracking ADC opens the door to a new forward-looking dynamic element matching (DEM) technique, which helps to reduce the loop delay time and consequently improves the loop stability. The quality of rotational molded products is strongly affected by the sintering behavior of the powders used in the process. In turn, for a given material, the sintering behavior of polymer powders is dependent on the size and the shape of particles obtained in the milling apparatus. The quality of powders for rotational molding is usually determined by means of size distribution, dry flow, and bulk density tests. However, these tests do not provide insight into the relationship between the shape of powders, the milling conditions, and the sintering behavior during the rotational molding cycle. Nevertheless, the application of mathematical tools to powder analysis can significantly improve the efficiency of the grinding process, looking not only at the size but also at the shape of the powder. This can in turn result in a higher reliability of rotational molding and in better performances of the products obtained in processes dominated by the sintering behavior of polymer powders. In this work the grinding process of recycled high‐density polyethylene was analyzed using a quantitative approach to the shape and size of the powders. In particular, shape factors, capable of characterizing powders obtained in different milling conditions, were studied. Many existing and emerging Scientific high-end applications (E-science) require end-to-end circuits interconnecting Grid resources for large data transfers. A few advanced networks, mainly National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), such as Surfnet, National Lambda Rail and Internet 2, now provide mechanisms for end-users to reserve and provision lightpaths via middleware referred to as Network Resource Mangers (NRMs). Although, some progress has been made in automated intra-domain lightpath services, inter-domain lightpath provisioning still requires manual intervention and presents several key challenges such as scalability of topology information exchanged, consistency and scalability of information model, security of access to the resources, hybrid networking and multi-layer lightpaths, and accounting and billing. In this paper, we describe a new architectural framework called Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF) Interdomain Resource Reservation Architecture (GIRRA) with the goal to provide an integrated response to these challenges. We propose a new approach to model GLIF network domains and GOLEs as virtual switches and to describe their behavior, functionality, policy capabilities, and topology aggregation. We define an inter-domain path computation model to determine paths that meet constraints and access policy restrictions. We propose a security framework for authentication and authorization of users and a model for accounting and billing that aims to provide easy and secure access to the resources. Key aspects of the GIRRA solution are that it focuses on the inter-dependence between different challenges of inter-domain path provision, and it is built around already existing solutions for intra-domain resource provisioning. 相似文献
